It hit me last week. My youngest likes to bicycle to dance practice, but it’s too late for the return trip home now. The weather is fine, but it’s just getting too dark.

This reminds me, we were on the shore of Lake Ontario in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. We could see high rise buildings in downtown Toronto. We were told they were 32 miles away. Seems impossible, but maybe that’s right.

Bret Saberhagen had that at the beginning of his career. -
Sounds like Cabrera will be playing for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic.

Shortening daylight. Just not ready for it yet.

Is this the international space station? I’m an idiot, there’s probably only one space station. But, yeah, we’ll make it a must see if the conditions are right. It’s crazy to think you can see it from that far away, however far away it is.

Maybe, maybe not. If he were left handed, I'd be more forgiving. His season by season BABIP is absolute Jeckyl and Hyde. -
Just heard this little nugget: An average trip around the bases after hitting a home run is 26 seconds. Albert Pujols has spent over 5 hours of his life in a home run trot.

There are currently 49 guys on the 40 when you include the 60 day ILs. Personally I have a hard time seeing Garcia being kept ahead of 41-49 plus any players that need to be added to the 40 this offseason. He'll be 28 to start next season and doesn't miss enough bats or induce enough weak contact. It seems like an easy nontender despite a handful of decent starts. -

BABIP of .216 is unsustainable. His SO% has approached league average while his BB% is worse vs. Small sample size, but it seems like a mirage. -

Fool's gold. -
Where are they at right now? Where have they been in recent history, or longer term history? We weren't around when Minnesota last won the conference (1961). Wisconsin has had 7 conference titles (and lost 4 championship games) since. Come on, we're really not going to have argument about Minnesota football vs Wisconsin football are we? Because there honestly is not an argument to be had. I agree with you that Wisconsin isn't a national or blue blood program. But one team has been able to get some punches in vs blue bloods while the other one has pretty much shown up in the loss column.

Is Minnesota’s sports program really on the same echelon as Wisconsin? I am under the impression that it’s behind. I suppose if you want to line up Fleck and Chryst and compare their results based on the type of programs that are at, it might be closer to a dead heat. But Wisconsin has a few big wins, been in a few big games. What has Minnesota done?

They’re probably going to have to move some pitching just because they have so many pitchers on the 40. They can just DFA Cisnero, Norris, and Garcia to start with. I’d probably add Funkhouser to that, but understand if they’d want to see how he looks post injury. Hutchison is probably gone as well, but give the guy credit, he usually got them to the middle of the game with a puncher’s chance. As much as I’d love them to move Soto and his over 5 BB9, I doubt there would be much interest in him. He may have great stuff, but the control is just awful. Who knows, maybe they could get lucky there and find someone focused on the lefty stuff. They have so many starters that they’ve gone through this season. It’ll be interesting to see how it gets sorted out. I wouldn’t think there would be much of a market for some of those guys. And, similarly, I wonder how much any of the relievers would entice teams. Harris has his work cut out for him. -

The Tuesday doubleheader starts around 6 Eastern and the Wednesday finale starts around 4 Eastern. -
I would disagree that Minnesota to Wisconsin is a lateral move. I think a well run Wisconsin program is among the top of the west year in and year out while Minnesota hopes to be among that group. I kind of wondered if this move might have been more about keeping Leonard and a little less so about firing Chryst. Obviously this is a poor start for Wisconsin. But the opportunity presents itself to promote Leonard, and so they took advantage of it.

Not arguing that. Just trying to relay the facts of this specific incident.

I don’t know that I’d call it rolling the dice. The kid is 23 years old and only 2 years removed from college and the draft. It’s been bad, but this isn’t an unheard of MLB rookie season. -
It wasn't a designed fake punt. You'd know that if you were watching the game.
