  2. Hope for the best for him. Its good to see people of some fame and notoriety use their place in life and platforms to be honest that just because they can hit a fastball or drain a 3 and get paid handsomely for it, it doesn’t mean that they are anyone else is immune to times of difficulty. “Hey, I’m going through this, but I’m working through it with professionals, and if anyone reading this needs help, go find it, the resources are out there.” You have to appreciate people that will open up like that.
  3. So, 6 highest ranked conference champions and the 6 highest ranked teams of the remaining 124 teams. Essentially it’s the top 10 teams and a couple others that might not be in the top 12. It stands to reason that one of the 6 highest ranked conference championships are outside of the top 12. Heck, that 1 or 2 might go up to 3, maybe 4? Is it a reracked bracket after the first round? If 12 beats 5, do they still play 4? I think they should use the NFL model of best plays worst, next best plays next worst, next next best plays next next worst, etc.
  4. What an odd sentence to read if we were 10 years ago.
  5. College Football Playoff expansion talks reignite: Friday meeting could create larger field as soon as 2024
  6. Buddha is correct. However, I understand that today's MLB bullpen usage is too much paint by numbers at times. Guys need to know their roles, which, OK, how about go stand on that dirt pile, and get the guy with the hitting twig out? Seems like a pretty simple role. What gets me is a RP gets brought in, dusts 3 batters on 10 pitches or less, and then another RP comes in the next inning because we have to have 7th inning RPs and 8th inning RPs and 9th inning RPs. Or the best RP, the closer for most teams, won't be used in the 8th inning vs the 2nd, 3rd, 4th lineup hitters because that pitcher's role is the 9th inning. Why wouldn't you match up strength vs strength? You might not get out of the 8th with a lead to use the best RP in the 9th. But unfortunately RPs are trained to be this for the most part. Come in, have one inning of all out effort, and call it a night. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like its become more about throwing hard than pitching.
  7. Indeed. That looks more accurate. Carry on.
  8. Kansas City Royals (72-58) at Detroit Tigers (50-81)
  9. Soon enough the Tiger Ls will be replaced by Lion Ls.
  10. Isn’t the NIL income? Isn’t income taxable in the good ol’ USA?
  11. It was a fine play. Only about 5,000 folks in the park, nobody in the front row. Seriously, it was a fine play, terrific effort, and ultimately the correct call was made on the overturn. I disagree with the completely out of play. We saw baseballs brought back in from the other side of the barrier often enough and they don’t them out of play. Home runs any more, foul balls before the netting. We’ve seen it plenty, and if the ball is successfully caught, the out has been registered.
  12. The 2020 Tigers hit 62 home runs.
  13. Just wait until LeBron James returns.
  14. I’m sure it’s happened before, and I’m not judging NIL or what happened before or under the table or out in the open or any of that. It just struck me that some guys are going to make more money as an “amateur” than they will as an active (to some extent) pro, and that amateur/pro thing amuses me.
  15. I doubt that it happens this season. Kreidler might get some chances at SS, but it will probably be with Baez at DH or out of the game. My guess is that he'll get opportunities around the IF, maybe not necessarily every day, but maybe 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 4 games, something like that. I don't think they'll move their prized offseason position player acquisition off of SS. They've already had enough bad press with the rebuild is over followed by Avila's firing, and the on field play, and Rodriguez' absence (regardless of the true story behind it), etc.
  16. Yes, for all of the grief that Coolbaugh takes, Hessman seems to fly under the radar. I don't know how much blame either deserves, but its clear something needs to be done.
  17. Seattle Mariners (72-58) at Detroit Tigers (50-80)
  18. With Kreidler up, it would seem that Short would be sent to Toledo if/when the need arises for another pitcher or catcher. Speaking of catchers, with the exception of the early on services of Garneau, the Tigers' catching duo has not needed to be replaced at all (well..... healthwise anyway) this season.
  19. Stat of the day: Harold Castro has a career 0.1 WAR as a pitcher.
  20. This is just saddening. Mother of a 14-year-old girl killed by touching downed electrical line shares final moments Kid grabbed a live wire thinking it was nothing more than a twig. Completely innocent action with tragic consquences. To make things worse, first responders arrived, but could do nothing until the wire was deactivated. I simply cannot fathom.
  21. The Irish are just like everybody else. They want what's best for them. They'll pretend otherwise, but everybody knows the drill. Money is green. Shamrocks are green.
