Yeah, makes sense. There is the benefit of the day off tomorrow night and probably added adrenaline on Saturday & Sunday (although that could work both ways).
-
Good call. I was thinking Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling, but that Arizona pitching staff was a different than what Houston has.
-
Didn't Houston do it successfully? Granted they only scraped bottom for 3 seasons.

Now that its best of 3, you can still have different philosophies at play. If either starter is going well tonight, do you ride them with, say, a 3 or 4 run lead later than normal to preserve those other arms for games 6 and possibly 7? Do you ignore that and go to the bullpen as normal, and maybe add the game 5 starter to the bullpen mix for an inning in game 7? The stature of relievers has grown so much in the past decade that the theories of how to handle these kinds of World Series questions has had to have changed as well. I would imagine tonight's starters are due to empty their tanks on their personal seasons tonight, but that might not be the case necessarily. Verlander was known to be quite the grouch on his game days. Can you imagine his temperament today?
-
I agree, do not watch that and underappreciate the pass.
-
I watched the Pistons rather than this game. Maybe I should'of watched this one instead? Welp, 2-2 with Verlander on the bump tonight. I s'pose I'll watch this one.

Yeah, sure, throw some money at this and hope it goes away. What a clown.

Its kind of unfair. The way the schedule is set up, the Bucks were able to figure out the Pistons on the back end of the back-to-back. On the bright side, tankathon odds improved. -
The Tigers had the worst record over the last seven years and now have a farm system in the lower third of MLB. It was an absolute debacle.
-
Well, that’s one opened 40 man slot. Not surprising.

Drummond even made a few free throws, too. -
I honestly cannot believe that Irving hasn’t been suspended indefinitely. Why are the Nets and NBA sitting on their hands waiting for the other organization to do something? Even if it results in only a handful of games. Or maybe there isn’t a precedent for them to stand on? I guess I am struggling to come up with a prior incident where something similar has occurred, so maybe there isn’t anything.

Those are nice AAA ratios. But the 22 2/3 IP qualifier is missing from the tweet.

Its not like releasing him would be without sound reason. He's just not an effective baseball player anymore. And I know some folks still think he has some drawing power as far as attendance is concerned, but they are in the lower 3rd of attendance at less than 20K per game last season, the same deal as 2019.

Hayes at the point, Johnson on the wing, and Milicic in the middle. That's quite a big 3 right there if their ages lined up a bit better. -
He's out shopping for his Browns gear. You know, the Browns team that gladly took on Deshaun Watson?

The early season has been odd. A pair of back-to-backs in one city vs the same team with a day in between. But then to add to the oddity, the day before these matchups, there was a game in a different city. Last week was at Washington on a Tuesday followed by consecutive games vs Atlanta in a Wednesday and Friday. And this week is home vs Golden State on a Sunday followed by consecutive games at Milwaukee on a Monday and a Wednesday. I suppose the back to backs on consecutive days in different cities aren't new. But the consecutive games in the same city with a day off in between? What are we doing? -

I’m excited to see what happens over the next few offseasons, drafts, international signings, etc. I want to see how a new regime attacks team building. Chris Ilitch’s era hasn’t been good. There’s obviously room for improvement. This was the same at one point under Mike Ilitch’s ownership. For some reason, I get the impression that while folks fondly recall the good times under Mike, the bad times are forgotten. So, yeah, the Chris era hasn’t been good to date. But we’ve seen things change before. It doesn’t mean it necessarily will, but I think that the revamping front office is cause for hope.

He did have CAPS LOCKED, so tread lightly.

Because there are no game threads to argue in.

This is a demotion, right?

Isn't it common for most ballplayers to go through peaks and valleys throughout an extended period? Candelario has had some polar opposite seasons. The defensive issues from last season are bothersome.
