    Correct. It is a Scott Harris move. Calling it an Al Avila move is simply lazy and thoughtless. It is notable that Harris has signed Boyd twice. It doesn't mean that's necessarily good or bad, but it is kind of interesting.

    Completely random, but worthy of noting. Buck O'Neil popped up as one of the players when I jumped on baseball reference. If thinking of Buck O'Neil's voice and story telling don't brighten your mood, gosh, I just don't know what to tell you.

    That mistake is being exacerbated by the mistake of keeping him on the major league roster despite his not being a player worthy of a spot on a major league roster.

    Performance is absolutely the issue with Cabrera. If he were a .750 OPS type of hitter, his heath issues and lack of dandy defensive value wouldn’t be an issue. But he’s not, those days have passed by.

    Cabrera and Candelario were essentially similar hitters last season, just for a bit of perspective. Yet some folks wanted one run out of town while wanting to keep the other for one more season. Makes a whole lot of sense.

    He's banked $30M+ per season the last 6 seasons despite being league average at best. He's got another $40M on the way this season whether he plays or not. Those are pretty damn good terms.

    Its asinine to suggest he isn't blocking anyone. Anyone that can play adequate defense at any position on the field and adequately hit a baseball is currently a better baseball player than Cabrera. I'm sorry to rock the feels of those pine for seeing Cabrera for just one more season, but just he's not a MLB quality player anymore.

    The merits may not change, but the emphasis of what merits matter seem to change at times. The lack of a rigid objective check off list allows them to do whatever they want to for whatever reason they want to.

    Cincinnati would probably be the best stocked program to find sustainable success. But I would think South Florida would give him ample access to more athletes and enough of a blank slate for him to put his imprint upon. In five years, if he has success, he can rightfully say, "see, I built this", whereas Cincinnati is kind of coming off of its historical zenith.

    And razor thin wins over Texas and Texas A&M. Oh, but that shut out of Austin Peay, I can see why that stands out.

    The St Cecilia’s jerseys are kind of appropriate tonight given how it looks like a bad pickup game at times.
