  1. BABIP of .216 is unsustainable. His SO% has approached league average while his BB% is worse vs. Small sample size, but it seems like a mirage.
  2. Where are they at right now? Where have they been in recent history, or longer term history? We weren't around when Minnesota last won the conference (1961). Wisconsin has had 7 conference titles (and lost 4 championship games) since. Come on, we're really not going to have argument about Minnesota football vs Wisconsin football are we? Because there honestly is not an argument to be had. I agree with you that Wisconsin isn't a national or blue blood program. But one team has been able to get some punches in vs blue bloods while the other one has pretty much shown up in the loss column.
  3. Detroit Tigers (66-93) at Seattle Mariners (87-71)
  4. Is Minnesota’s sports program really on the same echelon as Wisconsin? I am under the impression that it’s behind. I suppose if you want to line up Fleck and Chryst and compare their results based on the type of programs that are at, it might be closer to a dead heat. But Wisconsin has a few big wins, been in a few big games. What has Minnesota done?
  5. They’re probably going to have to move some pitching just because they have so many pitchers on the 40. They can just DFA Cisnero, Norris, and Garcia to start with. I’d probably add Funkhouser to that, but understand if they’d want to see how he looks post injury. Hutchison is probably gone as well, but give the guy credit, he usually got them to the middle of the game with a puncher’s chance. As much as I’d love them to move Soto and his over 5 BB9, I doubt there would be much interest in him. He may have great stuff, but the control is just awful. Who knows, maybe they could get lucky there and find someone focused on the lefty stuff. They have so many starters that they’ve gone through this season. It’ll be interesting to see how it gets sorted out. I wouldn’t think there would be much of a market for some of those guys. And, similarly, I wonder how much any of the relievers would entice teams. Harris has his work cut out for him.
  6. Did he recognize your daughter’s avatar from any online forums?
  7. Are you new here? This has been happening with regularity. 😆
  8. The Tuesday doubleheader starts around 6 Eastern and the Wednesday finale starts around 4 Eastern.
  9. I would disagree that Minnesota to Wisconsin is a lateral move. I think a well run Wisconsin program is among the top of the west year in and year out while Minnesota hopes to be among that group. I kind of wondered if this move might have been more about keeping Leonard and a little less so about firing Chryst. Obviously this is a poor start for Wisconsin. But the opportunity presents itself to promote Leonard, and so they took advantage of it.
  10. Not arguing that. Just trying to relay the facts of this specific incident.
  11. Detroit Tigers (65-93) at Seattle Mariners (87-70)
  12. Ok.
  13. I don’t know that I’d call it rolling the dice. The kid is 23 years old and only 2 years removed from college and the draft. It’s been bad, but this isn’t an unheard of MLB rookie season.
  14. It wasn't a designed fake punt. You'd know that if you were watching the game.
  15. Was he on the hot seat?
  16. I'll add some context to this (even though M fans don't want it). Its an Australian punter that's still picking up the game. The avenue was clearly open to run with the ball (as evidenced by the result). It wasn't a called fake punt. Day and Schiano cleared it up after at midfield after the game was over.
  17. On that note, if the Tigers are looking for a circus monkey for next season at the tune of $32M, I have a resume ready to send to them.
  18. Minnesota Twins (77-81) at Detroit Tigers (64-93)
  19. What’s to worry about? He’s going to retire, volunteer as the first base coach, and toss BitBits to the crowd in between innings whilst wearing the Paws costume.
  20. Cutting Torkleson, too? The production this season has been about the same.
  21. I understand that he had a long career and guys that have long careers are slower at the end than at the beginning. But I’m of the age that recalls Buckner for that little ground ball in the World Series. It’s illogically astounding to me that he was athletic enough to be the LF when Hank Aaron hit #715.
  22. It’s not the length of the game thread that counts. It’s what you do with it. — Casimirfucious
  23. Rumors are swirling that the Big Ten East winner will face a Big Ten West all star team in the Big Ten Championship this season.
  24. Gonna need to start including hookers & blow in these threads.
