    Yup. That's my issue. I don't mind him shopping lesser value players, especially relievers with limited contract control. There's probably not much of a return for those players anyway. And to be fair, he's gotten some decent return (caveat on the prospects still to be developed) for a few relievers.

    The more recent memories of Mike Ilitch make him seem a more win or go home owner. A lot of folks forget about the Randy Smith era. This seems like that in that it’s obviously not working, but it seems that blind loyalty is too strong.

    They would likely bring up Cameron or Hill if they moved Grossman. Cameron hasn’t shown he’s not promotable and Hill hits like a pitcher and stays as healthy as a Detroit pitcher.

    Agree. Less risk involved moving relievers than with moving Skubal. But they need to move on from Avila as GM. It’s just not working.

    We can complain about Grossman's playing time (or any other position player). But as I scan over the offensive numbers, I notice this team's best bats this season are an end of bench utility player and a backup catcher. They've pretty much all sucked. None of the position players deserve regular playing time on a major league baseball team this season. But they have to put somebody on the field. And so here we are.

    I’ve been wondering about that, and also (and this will draw some ire) if the pitching coaching might have a sliver of responsibility as well.

    The 2022 Tigers have used 28 different pitchers (which includes 3 position players). 15 different pitchers have started a game for the team. In 1984, the Tigers used a grand total of 14 different pitchers. 10 of those 14 started a game. 5 of those 10 accounted for 146 of the 162 games started. 4 of those 5 started 130 of the 162. Kids, we ain’t even at game 100 yet.
