  1. Cleveland Guardians (58-52) at Detroit Tigers (43-69)
  2. Bless their heart…..
  3. Tigers threaten. You know the rest.
  4. Yes, and the prized off season position player is at the bat.
  5. Tigers threaten but do not score. Drink.
  6. At least it wasn’t teal.
  7. I said 1. Underpromise and overdeliver.
  8. Baez, sweetheart, he ain’t trying to plunk you on purpose. You’re not enough of a threat to intentionally put on base. Stop staring at the pitcher and take your base.
  9. Going out and finding the right one is a bit of an unknown proposition. At the very least, they’ve finally decided to move on from the wrong one.
  10. Can they afford to DFA any healthy pitchers?
  11. This has the feel of a 14-1 kick to the nuts.
  12. He’s filled in admirably. Hutchison, not Avila.
  13. I had poutine at a Blue Jays game. It was a different experience for sure.
  14. This game is starting poorly.
  15. Pat Benatar is my wife’s favorite. I might pick something of her’s. Would “Hell is for Children” be acceptable?
  16. Why say anything about any specific transactions? ”Unfortunately we as an organization are not in the place where we should be. We appreciate Avila’s efforts and professionalism over the years, but we felt it was time to make a change. And so we’ve made the decision to start that process now.”
  17. Poor kid makes his MLB debut and he’s now an afterthought on the day.
  18. Daggumbed molleycoddled ballplayers.
  19. Quintana's OPSing around .800 between A+ & AA. He hadn't established himself as a prospect via his stats with the Tigers. Maybe Cincinnati saw something to adjust and/or he just had a breakthrough as a player?
  20. Chafin is awfully close to a Brookens 'stache clone. Alexander and Foley have potential.
  21. If we're going to pull out names from that era, we better leave the comparisons up to 84Lives.
  22. Heck, it might screw up his whole future career.
  23. I mentioned this in the 08/09 game thread, but its time to put Cabrera on the IL. Management needs to do the right thing and stock the roster with players that are capable, at least in terms of health and conditioning, of playing the game. Its great that they called up Carpenter. I'm not necessarily upset about Cameron being demoted. But it seems odd to have to carry a player on the roster that is barely in enough shape to populate the batter's box 4 times a game. As has been mentioned, his right knee is preventing him from getting any sort of drive into his swings. He cannot run. He cannot field. The team is essentially going with 12 position players. He is a detriment to the team. He is obviously in pain right now. He should be placed on the IL. Grow a spine, send a message, get into basic conditioning for next season, or just send him on his way.
