  1. I guess I thought most players go through more year round training whereas when some of us had dinosaurs as pets, spring training was for players to get into shape. But I hadn't thought about the lack of contact between players and personal trainers with their MLB teams and training staffs. That said, we're now about two months into the regular season. Shouldn't the kinetics be caught up by now for guys that have been going since spring training? Maybe I'm just looking at this from too much of a macro point of view. You dig into a detail like Pineda's injury being kind of flukish (although he has had his health struggles), and there's not really anything that is an effect from the offseason or spring training. I don't know, its all just very frustrating. But lots of kudos to Fetter & company for making chicken salad out of all of this.
  2. But it can't all due to a shortened spring training, can it?
  3. What other team is going through anything like this?
  4. 8 pitchers on the IL, soon to be 9. Good grief, they’re going to have a whole pitching staff on the IL pretty soon.
  5. Wasn’t Carlos Peña a bit slick with the glove works?
  6. I just want to know, what does Keith Law think? We need those WWJD bracelets, but with WDKLT.
  7. Clearly we could be catchers. Just ask Jim Price.
  8. This is what they’ve backed themselves into by poor roster construction and management. Cabrera is day-to-day, they have only 12 position players, they have little to none quality versatility among those 12, and they’ve got a doubleheader tomorrow. So essentially they’ve got a bench of Barnhart and Candelario today. They have the extra player that they can call up tomorrow, and it’ll probably be another pitcher. I don’t want to wish bad things upon the team or players, but I really hope they goes stuck putting a pitcher out onto the field at some point over the next two days just because they need that result shoved in their faces.
  9. The radio field mikes were very adept at picking up Pelfrey’s F bombs. This will be what my mind’s ears hear if I read that the Tigers pick up that $8M tab. They have no bats right now, they have too many Ps on the active roster, and we want them to waste time with this has been? Simply terrible.
  10. You may be onto something.
  11. Playing RF seems less strenuous than CF. Just another measure to bring him back to baseball speed gradually?
  12. He should probably be demoted in the lineup, but then they would have to find someone else to promote to 4th. Tough to do when most of the lineup ain’t hitting.
  13. Hold on, I thought Hinch was running the show. Or was that only last May through the end of last season?
  14. Dump him, bring up Clemens.
  15. I agree that there wasn’t a player to tank for, save for maybe Kumar Rocker the year before he was actually drafted. The other thing to keep in mind about drafting higher is the draft slots that come with it. While there might not have been a Bryce Harper, there was the bigger chunk of change that came along with the privilege of picking before everyone else.
  16. I was watching on FS1. I don’t know who the play-by-play was that was calling the game (along with Tom Verducci), but he referred to Daz Cameron as Cam Diaz for the first 3 innings.
  17. A better GM.
  18. You don't that occurred during the Gardenhire years?
  19. If the plan is to tank, which causes the MLB team to suffer, and draft high, which should eventually create enough talent to pull the team out of the basement, by all means, they better hit on the draft picks. I realize not all draft picks pan out, but this is the path that they have chosen.
  20. There was the walkout in Oxford. Its probably something that should have been repeated at schools all over.
  21. When are we going to see the graphic that displays the number of children killed by gunfire in mass shootings this school year vs children killed by COVID vaccination shots?
  22. I hope whatever organization(s) will eventually do the deep dive on this does so independently and the honest facts are brought out. It probably won't move the needle on stricter gun control, but the truth of this incident (and others) needs to be out there. Maybe eventually a generation or two down the line will be wise enough to remember their time in school and realize that there might be better preventative ways to stifling this rather than going through active shooter drills.
  23. I wouldn’t trade my life for anybody’s. I’ve had so many blessings in my life. I don’t want people to be sad for me when I go. Be sad for the kids who die young. You shouldn’t feel sad for a man who lived his dream. -- Buck O'Neil Why are we allowing our kids to die young?
  24. If only we could ban idiots......
