  1. I am eager to see an outfield of Meadows, Greene, and Clark. I've always wanted speedy, rangey, athletes in that OF. Its just never come to pass. I suppose that there is downfall to that trio as far as arm strength and maybe it won't be the strongest offensively in terms of HR. But that offense could be offset on the basepaths and with the defense.
  2. How long have you been waiting to use that?
  3. Skubal, FA, Olson, FA/Mize/Maeda, FA/Mize/Maeda to start the season. Jobe limits innings in Toledo in April and is bumped up to be the first injury replacement. Montero, Gipson-Long, other prospects/projects in Toledo to be called upon as needed. Montero has shown glimpses, but just not enough to consider for a rotation spot out of camp. There's still time for that to change. Gipson-Long has a handful of MLB starts, coming off significant time lost. He'll need that time in Toledo. I would think Manning is out of options, but its tough to think he has much of a future with Detroit at this point anyway. I get that there were a lot of issues this season. But there's not enough pitching. And if they do have too much pitching going into the trade deadline next season, move some to address other weaknesses or get back a prospect or two.
  4. Well, it sounds nuts because it is nuts. On the other hand, this team has a lot of players that ain't been in an MLB playoff push. Just let them see what they can get themselves into. Maybe they're naive enough to not help themselves from making up some ground.
  5. All your future ripened grapefruit are belong to us.
  6. Not enough depth.
  7. That's a good point.
  8. It’s good that he’s figured something out. I’m sure not many want to see him return next season, but if he can prove that the first half of this season was an anomaly, having his career numbers next season will be one less hole the Tigers have to fill during the off-season.
  9. And Faedo was all Seattle’s offense, too.
  10. Wow, Sweeney and Jung? Just in time for the playoff push, too.
  11. That seems an unfortunate ricochet.
  12. The SO/BB split is particularly interesting.
  13. Might as well, right?
  14. I s'pose that's one way to look at it.
  15. They have been getting good results. They've also benefitted from the schedule makers with off days on July 31, August 5, 12, and 19. For the most part, they've been pitching well since the all star break. But, yes, you kind of expect the wear and tear to arrive at some point. They have the off day on August 19 after the Little League game. Then its at the Cubs for 3, at the Jerk Sox for 4, host the Angels for 3, host the Red Sox for 3, then out to the Padres for 3 and at the Athletics for 3. Basically 3 weeks straight with an odd Tuesday off on the Tuesday after Labor Day as the only rest day. Maneuvering that could be interesting. Mize is probably due back at the end of that? Maeda hasn't been reinstated into the rotation yet. I don't know. That stretch could make for some tough sledding.
  16. What does the fox say?
  17. Not sure genius can be applied to bunting with 2 strikes.
  18. No clue where Baddoo will be next season. But enjoy the moment, young man.
  19. You’re in close proximity. Can you tell Seattle to eat it, please?
  20. “Where have I seen that guy before? What kind of name is Oblong? Should I have told him about the spinach stuck in his upper front teeth?”
  21. An OF/DH combination of Greene, Carpenter, Meadows, Malloy, Vierling (3B as well), Perez (maybe forced down to Toledo) ain’t bad if healthy, is it? I mean, you consider all are entering into their prime or earlier on that bell curve? Add in Keith at 2B. If they can get Torkelson’s game in order or add in a corner IF bat, it lengthens the lineup to where Baez’s isn’t such an impediment. Plus, maybe they can rest Greene a bit more, maybe that game management can keep him off of the injured list.
  22. My goodness, 15 runs, what kind of pointers did you give them?
  23. Skubal would be due to pitch that game if the "rotation" holds.
  24. This past week in particular was interesting. Finished 3-3. Could have easily been 4-2 or 2-4 without wackiness in the last inning in Seattle and a different turn of events without the rundown outs in the series finale in San Francisco. While we can complain about the lineups, the pitching decisions, etc, they were in each and every game, all of which could have easily tipped the other way. Also, the "back to back vacations" was a nice humble brag.
