  1. Well, there's always that chance for meeting in the playoffs.
  2. Nope. **** Trump. The Tigers are on. **** trump.
  3. if Minnesota goes 9-9, the Tigers need to go 13-5. Gotta pick those games up somewheres. Hosting Colorado and their dismal 22-53 road record is an opportunity to do that.
  4. That would make baseball sense.
  5. Well, trading Carpenter and landing a RHH don't necessarily need to be directly tied to each other in one transaction.
  6. That's a good point about the relievers. The bullpen could use some more swing and miss.
  7. Must sweep series.
  8. This. The question I have about this streak is the pitching. Is this sustainable? I didn't think it would be for this long. Personally I still think they need to add an upper rotation SP and a lower rotation SP to a mix of Skubal, Olson, and Mize. Guys like Montero, Gipson-Long, Manning, Jobe, and Madden are either in the BP or on call in Toledo. Jobe and hopefully Madden are on the rise. The others are just depth, and that's fine. And maybe both of those FA SPs are in the forms of what we've seen with Lorenzen and Flaherty, one year deals to a couple of guys that are trying to recapture their careers. The offense is interesting. Sure, they need RHH, and it probably fits better on the IF. But where exactly? Are they done with Torkelson? Are Keith and Jung really entrenched at their current positions? Can they upgrade everyday SS and how do they handle Baez?
  9. So here is one of the issues that the Tigers face. Tiebreakers. I think as part of the new playoffs with the 3rd wildcard, there are no regular season tiebreaker games. The Tigers have lost the season series to the Twins (6-7). The Tigers are currently trailing the Royals in that season series (3-7) with only 3 games to go. The Tigers have won season series over the Red Sox (4-2) and Mariners (5-1).
  10. The Twins, Royals, and Orioles are all losing tonight. I suppose realistically only the Twins are a realistic wild card team to hurdle at this point, but hey, stranger things have happened.
  11. How about the trade route? What is the story of Miami middle infielder Xavier Edwards?
  12. Miami has used 43 pitchers this season. St. Louis has used 43 total players this season.
  13. At this point, a .500 finish would be unsatisfactory. 8-10 (now after yesterday's victory) with only 6 games on the road and 6 games at home vs the Rockies and White Sox.
  14. All are still possible.
  15. I think it was during the 40s/50s where 1Bdudes were also expected to be good defensively rather than or maybe equal to offensively.
  16. Win the game and maybe be 3 1/2 games out of the wildcard with 3 weeks remaining. Dreaming too much? Maybe. Probably. Hey, why not?
  17. Busy during, but watching the recording now. I think it’s just the annual tradition of sports fans delving into football. The Tigers just took the lead, or maybe the A’s just gave up the lead, I’m not sure. Whichever, I hope the wildcats can win yesterday.
  18. Any day Notre Dame loses is a good day. Now to get Brian Kelly up on a tall scaffolding during a windy day.
  19. I like your style.
  20. That place looks gorgeous. Up there with Pittsburgh? I'm a sucker for incorporating history with a ballpark. The metal supply company building as the left field foul line. The warehouse in Baltimore. The rooftop bleachers outside of Wrigley (way to kill that charm). I kind of wish Detroit would bring the flagpole back into play as it had been before the fences were moved and as it was at Tiger Stadium, but I acknowledge that additional outfield obstacles are the last thing Riley Greene needs
  21. Looking at their Augusts, Uceta does have a case. Better WHIP, better SO/9, better BB/9, better opponent OPS, …. I know the tweet fits the thread. But I think there is merit to the vote being correct, even if there is some bias involved.
  22. I'd be more interested in a prediction of what the football conferences look like and what the nonfootball conferences look like in 2030.
  23. Much appreciation to Florida State for proving once again that preseason rankings ain't worth diddly freaking pooh.
  24. He was a 20th round pick out of college. The initial transition to pro ball in 2019 wasn’t smooth. Then COVID. But since then, he has maintained or improved his batting line with each promotion in the minors. He’s 26 now. Maybe he’s a later bloomer like Andy Ibanez but with SS on his tool belt? Just guessing, I have no clue aside from looking at numbers.
