  1. I also read this as a league rule, not the Tigers. And it does seem reasonable to blame the supplier given the issues this season. Still inexcusable, the Stars weekend has been going on for more than a couple of years. But, hey, there’s plenty of ****ty connect swag for purchase in the meantime.
  2. I think the players and coaches will take some slight deviations from the zone as long as the calls are consistent. Doesn’t mean they won’t argue a call or two, but I think they generally accept the consistency from pitch to pitch as opposed to strict adherence of the true zone by rule. The strike zone, while it might be outlined in the rule book to be an exact rectangle extrapolated by the dimensions of the plate, it ain’t going to be called that precisely by human eyes. And Polly wants a cracker.
  3. I suppose I could have done that, but alas, I’m stupid ……. and contagious.
  4. The salaries in the NBA now are truly mind boggling. Hey, if it’s there, take it. I don’t begrudge them for accepting. I don’t think that’s the same as being critical of the contracts being offered out. But I think the salaries that are being offered out come with the responsibility to be on the court on a nightly basis. None of this load management crap with the exception of something like nagging injuries on back to backs as a minimum.
  5. Is EUZ an acronym for estimated umpire zone? Or maybe effective umpire zone?
  6. Oh Lord, I hope the driveway isn’t going to take the brunt of verbal abuse because a guy that’s played over 2,500 innings of professional outfield getting a start in RF.
  7. So they’ll probably roll out the ****ty connects? How can they not wear Stars’ regalia? I’m not much for alternate jerseys, but I appreciate the nod to the Stars. I’m disappointed in entirety of jerseys this season, beginning with the fiasco of the new suppliers for the “regular” jerseys, to the monstrosities that are the dark and electric blues, and now this. The only redeeming thing about the Motor City clothes is that they aren’t see through. And now we’re going to flip off the Stars because of … of…. I’m sorry, what rule or regulation is affected here?
  8. Those two overturns looked conclusive on replay. Can’t really complain about that. I know it’s easier to say than do, but the Perez play in particular is why you keep the ball on the runner through a play at a base just in the event the runner loses contact with the base.
  9. Yes. Its fun to have more than the one quota filling all star. Its fun to have legitimate current franchise cornerstones on both the mound and at the plate / in the field. While Skubal gets a lot of attention about whether to trade or extend, and given the extension that Keith agreed to, what kind of future are we looking at with Greene? He's been healthy this season. Is it time to buy out a few free agent seasons with an extension?
  10. Frustrating to see the box score and how the bullpen failed again. Then check out some of the videos and see some of the base running mistakes. This was the Skubal outing of the series, so to lose this one in such a fashion is a tough one to take. On the flip side, this is the Dodgers on the docket. The Tigers lurched out to a 3 run lead early and held them in check for most of the game despite being the inferior team with some major issues that have really been a disappointment this season. And they can still win the series.
  11. Vilade has over 2,500 innings as a professional OF. But you keep being you.
  12. It’s one game. Skubal is going to strike out most of those donkeys anyway.
  13. It is wrong. But if Brunson is happy with it, let him be happy with it.
  14. Maybe Manning should try pitching left handed.
  15. I played a game of NBA Jam yesterday. The real stand up arcade version. The Pistons had Thomas, Dumars, and Elliott. Took my nephew to OT (Chicago) and lost by 4. I struggled like crazy to remember how the damn buttons worked. But fun stuff.
  16. Just to pick nits on the COVID season, we’re down with that as an impediment to development at this point in general, right? I would think there’s been ample time to get past that impediment. As for Manning, it’s just hope at this point. I doubt he returns to the rotation unless it’s only to fill it out to finish the season. Can he contribute out of the bullpen, or is it just time to let him move on? That seems to be the question at this point.
  17. Mark Canha is the DH tonight. Canha is the best outfielder? On a team with Riley Greene?
  18. I honestly don’t know. I find myself flip flopping on Kelly. Two guaranteed seasons would be my end point. One thing that the Tigers have had the past few seasons is durability catching health. I don’t think they’ve dipped into 3rd catchers being called up much at all. At some point that string will break (pardon the pun). Neither Kelly nor Rogers are young, so a bit of a breakdown wouldn’t be too surprising.
  19. Might as well win another series.
  20. That’s basically what the hope is for Manning and Torkelson. They’re working on those things, ain’t mastered them yet, but eventually (hopefully sooner than later) figure it out
  21. What are the odds Kelly becomes unplayable within two seasons? What kind of contract would he command?
  22. Have you seen the Tiger city connects? Don’t underestimate their power.
  23. I believed you up until white jeans.
  24. He starts in the bullpen.
  25. Reece Olson would like a word with you.
