  1. Looks like all are free today.
  2. Huh. 13 years of Catholic school. I never knew the bill or rights was in the bible. Learn something new false every day, I guess.
  3. Every once in a while I'll see a snapshot of the Exhibition Stadium stands around the infield and I'm stunned that there was no roof or overhang there. It seems so primitive. And then the nothingness but empty football field beyond the right field wall. That was distinctive to me from when I started watching. I don't think I remember any stadium setup like that. I know that's what the Dodgers had in the Colosseum when they moved out there. But I think every other baseball/football stadium in the 70s/80s/90s had the retractable stands pushed in to make the baseball dimensions work.
  4. Maybe he's just tired and needs a game off?
  5. Might as well win the series.
  6. I prefer the game is called correctly. The AAA ball/strike challenge system has limited pitches to challenge. I think it is 3 per game, but I'm not sure if there are caveat's to that (ie, retained challenge). I am pretty sure it is penalty free. If the call is challenged and upheld, play moves along. And from what I have seen, its a quick process. Pat the top of your head to challenge, the pitch is reviewed, the determination is broadcast on the scoreboard, and we move along. Honestly, the time it takes for that to happen is quite short compared to the challenges already in place in MLB. Maybe its as long as a pre pitch clock batter getting out of the box to scratch himself, adjust his batting gloves, knock dirt out of his cleats, and get back into the box.
  7. Since when has the truth mattered?
  8. Miller seems a mystery to me. Pretty decent peripherals, but when the batter makes contact, someone gets a souvenir.
  9. We went to a game a couple of years ago. Seats were uppest deck behind the plate. I remember walking to get up there and it was nothing but concrete in the corridor. I think even the handrail and lights were made of concrete. It was just a stale feeling. I'm sure it was just victim of the era when it was built. A few years later, Oriole Park was built and there was brand new thinking to baseball play pens. Those corridors would be more open now with views of the city and/or field.
  10. He is a bit on the seasoned side. Maybe he's just a AAAA type of announcer?
  11. We’re celebrating Wenceel and you’re dropping asterisks. Can we interest you in a hug?
  12. Never heard of Ordegon. Ever drive on nuh-VAY-duh Street?
  13. Well, and in fairness maybe that ball falls in anyway.
  14. Flaherty going through a lot of pitches in the 5th and 6th. Guerrero Jr homers. And now the Flaherty pitch count ends.
  15. Oh boy, the sketchy defense returns.
  16. I don’t know why it triple posts like that.
  17. There’s also a Nevada (Street) that is pronounced differently than the state.
  18. Well, I was right about the pronunciation, but the road I took to get there was a big lie. I feel shame.
  19. Oh, yes, you’re right, I’m wrong. I didn’t realize he went to Genoa, I always thought he went to Clay. Genoa is a smaller system than Clay, and Clay Twp is certainly smaller than Oregon. Thanks for correcting me.
  20. Oregon, Ohio is pronounced differently than the Oregon the state. Oregon here has the syllables drawn out a bit longer and the “gon” sounds like a lot like the word “gone”.
  21. Dig it. You Canha do this more often, please.
  22. One of the announcers declared Chris Bassett is from the tiny town of Clay, Ohio. Clay is the school system of Oregon, Ohio, which is a decent sized suburb of Toledo. Geographical knowledge you didn’t know you needed to get you through this game. You’re welcome.
  23. I’m not sure I agree with the target date being that far down the line. I think they were simply taking best player available. If you are in fact correct about the timeline theory, that’s an awful decision. They can improve the farm system via draft while at the same time improving big league roster. We can allow multitasking. The Tigers obviously have some roster spots that could use improvement, and it might not take too much to improve those spots. And despite those issues, they’re still around .500 on the season. As for Skubal, it’s pretty easy, really. It’s going to require a boatload of talent, and if it’s not there, don’t trade him. Build up the team next season, improve upon this season. The salary situation isn’t onerous at all except for Baez.
  24. Yes, I listened to that last night. I enjoyed hearing his story and hope his parents can get a chance to see him play in person soon.
