  1. Madris might be safe for a little longer. He and Ibanez seem to be the only 1Bdudes on the team.
  2. Well, there were no Negro League jerseys this season, at least for the Tigers. Remember the issues with the regular jerseys at the beginning of the season (poor fit, fabric was translucent and/or pants didn't match the shirts, supplier issues). Then the manufacturer had to make the ****ty connects for the teams that debuted them, but also probably every team since the fabric of the regulars was changed as well. So essentially, MLB thumber their collective nose at Negro League jerseys in favor of ****ty connects.
  3. Yup. The Tigers won't let him go for nothing. He'll either still be on the Tigers or traded to a team that sees the split vs LHPs as a benefit. This was quite the pickup by Harris.
  4. Everything is 50/50.
  5. Per Cot's: Doesn't seem like arbitration. But I didn't realize there was a buyout attached.
  6. Per Cot's: He's at 57 IP right now.
  7. I like that, especially the sub headline "Rookie Accidently Burns All Detroit ****ty Connect Jerseys Before Debut".
  8. Someone wanna beep 1984Echoes and let him know his MTF account has been hacked?
  9. I agree with you about changing the game. Get things in order to be less reliant on HRs/SOs. Deaden the ball. I understand sitting a pitcher in spring training. But extending that into the regular season? Gross. Someone around here mentioned lengthening the pitch clock after a certain number of pitchers, maybe it was 10? I do like that idea to manage pitcher stress during an outing.
  10. I don't know. I find it difficult to believe they'll have him in the Detroit rotation right away and hoping for 150 innings given his career workload. He hasn't eclipsed 100 innings in a season yet, not even close. And he hasn't pitched in AAA yet (which is probably less of a concern than the stamina/workload of a season). Maybe he piggybacks with Maeda early in the season? Maeda's probably 2 trips through the lineup and done. That way Jobe gets the MLB exposure and they can evaluate his workload much more directly under Fetter & Nieves. While the ROY status might be a minor consideration for Jung (and Sweeney), I think the promotions are more to get a look for next season. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses at the MLB level now and have a game plan for the offseason into spring training.
  11. Could six-inning minimum starting pitcher rule come to MLB? In a nutshell:
  12. No, let me rephrase it this way. Skubal and Olson are in the rotation. Mize/Maeda/FA/FA for the other 3 spots out of camp. I would think Mize has one of those. I'm uncertain what becomes of Maeda. So, that would leave open spots for 1 or 2 FA (or trade) acquisitions.
  13. So, yeah, congrats to Jace Jung and Trey Sweeney for being promoted. Now go face Gerrit Cole in your debut. And smack him around the ballyard, eh?
  14. Where was signing 3 MLB rotation starters suggested?
  15. I am eager to see an outfield of Meadows, Greene, and Clark. I've always wanted speedy, rangey, athletes in that OF. Its just never come to pass. I suppose that there is downfall to that trio as far as arm strength and maybe it won't be the strongest offensively in terms of HR. But that offense could be offset on the basepaths and with the defense.
  16. How long have you been waiting to use that?
  17. Skubal, FA, Olson, FA/Mize/Maeda, FA/Mize/Maeda to start the season. Jobe limits innings in Toledo in April and is bumped up to be the first injury replacement. Montero, Gipson-Long, other prospects/projects in Toledo to be called upon as needed. Montero has shown glimpses, but just not enough to consider for a rotation spot out of camp. There's still time for that to change. Gipson-Long has a handful of MLB starts, coming off significant time lost. He'll need that time in Toledo. I would think Manning is out of options, but its tough to think he has much of a future with Detroit at this point anyway. I get that there were a lot of issues this season. But there's not enough pitching. And if they do have too much pitching going into the trade deadline next season, move some to address other weaknesses or get back a prospect or two.
  18. Well, it sounds nuts because it is nuts. On the other hand, this team has a lot of players that ain't been in an MLB playoff push. Just let them see what they can get themselves into. Maybe they're naive enough to not help themselves from making up some ground.
  19. All your future ripened grapefruit are belong to us.
  20. Not enough depth.
  21. That's a good point.
  22. It’s good that he’s figured something out. I’m sure not many want to see him return next season, but if he can prove that the first half of this season was an anomaly, having his career numbers next season will be one less hole the Tigers have to fill during the off-season.
  23. And Faedo was all Seattle’s offense, too.
