  1. Sure, that’s why I mentioned a division series game or two rather than a wildcard series game.
  2. If it’s a 5 man pitching staff without jostling things up, whoever starts tomorrow gets the last game of the season. Put another way, whoever starts tonight and tomorrow get 4 starts, and the other 3 slots gets 3 starts. Baltimore isn’t the team that the Tigers are chasing. Minnesota is the team to get. I’m not worried about him starting against Baltimore or any of those 6 games for that matter. Get him the 4th start.
  3. Hold on. What if those dogs and cats are actually some of those students that schools had to start stocking kitty litter and chew toys for? Is this now a crime against people?
  4. I sometimes ride my bike around a mall area where there is a population of Canadian geese. They can get quite hissy.
  5. So, anyone else curious how the Tigers' PR department and ticketing/ballpark operation folks are feeling about the possibility of a division series game or two? Gotta think there's some hopeful prep work going on, eh?
  6. Did you mean dead goose? This is interesting to me. I don't know if its goose hunting season or if Canadian geese are a legally huntable bird. I was on the road in northern Ohio this past Saturday morning and noticed a couple of guys with a dog in a farm field, one of the guys carrying two dead Canadian geese. I think I saw rifles, but wasn't paying too much attention to it. So, I ultimately don't know how the geese ended up in the that individual's grasp. I was really more interested in getting to the destination for the day. But, if it is Canadian goose hunting season in Ohio, and the picture as you suggest is the culprit, how have the two not been tied together as at least a possibility?
  7. I see what you did there. Pun acknowledged.
  8. I don't know. Unfortunately there's a lot of abject stupidity still supporting him.
  9. Wait, what?
  10. I had this one around that time:
  11. I think we can call it a Montero when it is completely out of the blue. A Maddux has some sort of understood possibility to it.
  12. I understand this is a bit of a tangent thought away from your point, but I've always thought the all star game should be later in the season to involve a bigger piece of the season to build out the rosters.
  13. I think your position player locks make sense unless Jung/Dingler bombs out from here on. Ibanez has been quite an asset as a RHH on the bench or starting vs LHP. I honestly didn't think much at all of his acquisition, but its been quite a boon. I wouldn't be surprised to see him dealt if a team wants to overpay for that. But that would be the only circumstance. Malloy and Torkelson need to hit because there's nothing defensively. I suspect using the DH as a partial rest day might need to be used by Greene more often than we want to admit to in order to keep him healthy. And this might be part of my bias speaking here, but I think Harris/Hinch legitimately want players that can field and hit.
  14. Well, there's always that chance for meeting in the playoffs.
  15. Nope. **** Trump. The Tigers are on. **** trump.
  16. if Minnesota goes 9-9, the Tigers need to go 13-5. Gotta pick those games up somewheres. Hosting Colorado and their dismal 22-53 road record is an opportunity to do that.
  17. That would make baseball sense.
  18. Well, trading Carpenter and landing a RHH don't necessarily need to be directly tied to each other in one transaction.
  19. That's a good point about the relievers. The bullpen could use some more swing and miss.
  20. Must sweep series.
  21. This. The question I have about this streak is the pitching. Is this sustainable? I didn't think it would be for this long. Personally I still think they need to add an upper rotation SP and a lower rotation SP to a mix of Skubal, Olson, and Mize. Guys like Montero, Gipson-Long, Manning, Jobe, and Madden are either in the BP or on call in Toledo. Jobe and hopefully Madden are on the rise. The others are just depth, and that's fine. And maybe both of those FA SPs are in the forms of what we've seen with Lorenzen and Flaherty, one year deals to a couple of guys that are trying to recapture their careers. The offense is interesting. Sure, they need RHH, and it probably fits better on the IF. But where exactly? Are they done with Torkelson? Are Keith and Jung really entrenched at their current positions? Can they upgrade everyday SS and how do they handle Baez?
  22. So here is one of the issues that the Tigers face. Tiebreakers. I think as part of the new playoffs with the 3rd wildcard, there are no regular season tiebreaker games. The Tigers have lost the season series to the Twins (6-7). The Tigers are currently trailing the Royals in that season series (3-7) with only 3 games to go. The Tigers have won season series over the Red Sox (4-2) and Mariners (5-1).
  23. The Twins, Royals, and Orioles are all losing tonight. I suppose realistically only the Twins are a realistic wild card team to hurdle at this point, but hey, stranger things have happened.
