  1. I still find myself thinking about pinch hitting for pitchers in National League parks. Old habits die hard.
  2. Yes and no. Torkelson and Baez have stunk out loud and 3B has probably been slightly better than expected. I think the first half of that equation is the extreme of baseball.
  3. I think I know what he was trying to get to, but he failed articulating it. I think what he was trying to express was similar to when shadows get in between the pitcher's mound and home plate. The sun isn't necessarily in the batter's eye, but the ball is going in and out of shadows. I think that's what Petry meant. Regardless, that play has to be made.
  4. It’d be interesting to see just how volatile the Tiger offensive routs are vs it’s normal output. What percentage of these games are outliers to it’s normal distribution, and how does that compare to the rest of the league?
  5. Maybe it’s as simple as what @Sports_Freak said earlier. Maybe he’s just fallen off of the cliff this year. Father Time is undefeated.
  6. I guess that’s 5D level chess fandom that I do not understand.
  7. Awesome. Enjoy your loss.
  8. They said Foley hasn’t pitched in a while, so he was probably due for some game run. Agree with you on Holton.
  9. Are you here to root against the Tigers? I guess I don’t understand that point, but whatever.
  10. If you enjoy a terrible disposition about things, so be it.
  11. E5 on the double clutch & throw? Not the easiest of plays for a 3B, but I’d say it’s one that is usually made. I think Singleton had a reasonable chance to catch that at 1st for an out. If the Tigers get a hit, I think this error gets changed to a hit.
  12. The Tigers’ IF coming into the season was locked at 1B, 2B, and SS. 3B was going to be a mix. Heading into today, of course the most productive IF position for the Tigers (in terms of bbref WAR) has been 3B.
  13. With no due respect, eff that.
  14. Well, Kinsler is sort’ve retired. I’m not sure there’s much to read. 😆
  15. That’s been his history. A rough April followed by good pitching for the rest of the season. We’re talking opponents’ OPS of over .800 in April and below .700 the rest of the season over the course of several seasons. It just ain’t clicking this season for whatever reason. I thought he was going to leave earlier in this game. He was stretching his back quite a bit in the 1st. Then he took that shot off of his leg. He made the play and then fell down, which is what my dad always told us when we were playing.
  16. The 3 point shooting would be a welcome addition.
  17. Listening to Motor City Metrics podcast and Chris Brown mentioned Ha Seong Kim for this upcoming offseason. Clearly they’ve been reading my posts here and they recognize my avatar. Kim to Detroit. Let’s make it happen!
  18. You’re all overthinking it. It’s the magic of the pizza spear.
  19. I don’t know if their series vs Detroit was a microcosm of their season, but I like the brand of “put the ball in play and create havoc on the base paths” that they played in Detroit.
  20. I did and still do question the Keith extension to an extent. A few more 4 for 6s and I’ll stop questioning. But there just wasn’t a whole lot for the Tigers to throw cash at this off-season. Chapman was the bat to go after, but there was risk there.
  21. Perez stole 2B with an 8 run lead. The Dans said something about it being odd, but also bringing up that it was only the 3rd inning. Heck yes, pour it on. Dig into that opponent’s bullpen as much as possible to weaken it for the next game.
  22. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. On top of it, he had taken his shoes off at some point (maybe before going on the field). Hey, dumbass. It’s “hold my beer”, not “hold my shoes”.
  23. I believe he had around 43 assists last night. My math might be off slightly.
  24. Neck discomfort, nightmares, it’s all the same.
