  1. Vilade has over 2,500 innings as a professional OF. But you keep being you.
  2. It’s one game. Skubal is going to strike out most of those donkeys anyway.
  3. It is wrong. But if Brunson is happy with it, let him be happy with it.
  4. Maybe Manning should try pitching left handed.
  5. I played a game of NBA Jam yesterday. The real stand up arcade version. The Pistons had Thomas, Dumars, and Elliott. Took my nephew to OT (Chicago) and lost by 4. I struggled like crazy to remember how the damn buttons worked. But fun stuff.
  6. Just to pick nits on the COVID season, we’re down with that as an impediment to development at this point in general, right? I would think there’s been ample time to get past that impediment. As for Manning, it’s just hope at this point. I doubt he returns to the rotation unless it’s only to fill it out to finish the season. Can he contribute out of the bullpen, or is it just time to let him move on? That seems to be the question at this point.
  7. Mark Canha is the DH tonight. Canha is the best outfielder? On a team with Riley Greene?
  8. I honestly don’t know. I find myself flip flopping on Kelly. Two guaranteed seasons would be my end point. One thing that the Tigers have had the past few seasons is durability catching health. I don’t think they’ve dipped into 3rd catchers being called up much at all. At some point that string will break (pardon the pun). Neither Kelly nor Rogers are young, so a bit of a breakdown wouldn’t be too surprising.
  9. Might as well win another series.
  10. That’s basically what the hope is for Manning and Torkelson. They’re working on those things, ain’t mastered them yet, but eventually (hopefully sooner than later) figure it out
  11. What are the odds Kelly becomes unplayable within two seasons? What kind of contract would he command?
  12. Have you seen the Tiger city connects? Don’t underestimate their power.
  13. I believed you up until white jeans.
  14. He starts in the bullpen.
  15. Reece Olson would like a word with you.
  16. Might as well win the series.
  17. I was traveling through cornfield Ohio and barely getting reception on the play-by-play via the MLB app. This play in particular was slow to come across my mobular telephone. I thought we were in a dead zone, not enough deer antlers to help carry the signal. But, alas, it was only because some poor intern had to type a bible's worth of action into one single play. That poor kid probably has ice on his fingers today, and might be hitting the IL before lunch.
  18. Which might be part of why he wants to be the only coaching voice dealing with the media. He can control the narrative a bit more, reduce the chances of the actual truth vs spoken word, so to speak.
  19. There are times that cliche is bullwash. I think it's probably true in general, but there's some allowed deviation. The current caveat being they've got a 4 game break coming up, which is not a normal part of the proceedings.
  20. See, I was guessing it was Amish.
  21. I don't think I would consider Mize a core piece, but at this point can be serviceable enough to ride out his control. Honestly, I was just hoping he could bang out innings at a league average performance this season. I was ready for a rougher first half in terms of pulling back the pitching while maybe stamina affects him in the second half. The jury is still out, but if he ends up solid middle of the rotation, I think that's fine at this point. I wouldn't worried about 1/1 status at this point. If only Manning could find enough game to get there. We can still foolishly hope he's just successfully working on stuff that isn't evident in the stats, can't we?
  22. TLDR. Is he going to do the David Letterman - Paul Schaffer thing, sign a humongous deal and then ask, "Oh ****, is there any money left for Rogers?"
  23. That's true. If they were to resign Kelly, they would seem to be set at C for a few years with Kelly at however long he is signed and Rogers who can be held for 3 more seasons. Add in Dingler who can be added to the 40 and has minor league options, and maybe they would be comfortable at C. I don't know that sitting back on that as a default kind of position is wise, but maybe that continuity behind the plate with Fetter as coach and Skubal and Olson as a primary duo in the rotation can be foundational base for the other arms that will be in and out over the next few seasons. That might be particularly useful for the pitching prospects coming up.
  24. Or maybe just run it tonight and see what happens.
