He's now 8th in the league in ERA

I have just been watching some UAV videos, one UAV which on an excursion seemed to have taken out 10 Russian tanks, and, in a particularly chilling moment, put a missile down into the center of a group of people who had escaped from a disabled tank, and the blast wave got all of them. Sitting here in North America, having watched the videos of those forlorn homesick kids that the Ukrainians captured early on, I feel very badly about the horrifying deaths of those tank crews that I am witnessing. But if I am that UAV pilot whose home was destroyed and whose family members were killed, I want to roast as many of them as I can, I want to watch them stagger out and burn to death. Which leads me to my question...is this the end of the era of the tank as an effective tactical weapon? They seem to be defenseless against UAV attack. You would have to be crazy to sign up for tank crew now, wouldn't you?

I live close enough to Buffalo to have heard radio and TV ads for Tops Friendly Markets for my whole life. Their old jingle from the 60s is stuck in my head right now. I have friends who, depending upon exchange rates, have driven over there for groceries. So it was very chilling to see that come up on the screen today.

Hinch is the GM who acquired the pitchers who are doing well. He took that over right away in November 2020. Avila is the GM for the rest of the players.
-
Brieske and Faedo, I trust those 2 guys and would happily give them regular starts.

Toledo is losing 4-0. Baddoo, Reyes and Cameron are all on the bench while Robson, Jack Lopez and Rosa are in the outfield. Robson and Lopez have had their cups of coffee already and Rosa will never get one, so I'd rather not see them playing ahead of guys who might still contribute.

I disagree 100%. You protect your employees by refusing to answer the question, you just say that each situation will be evaluated at the time and based on availability. Now he has ratcheted up the pressure on Soto even more because he is kind of clueless about relationship management which is most of his job. He just made Soto's situation even worse.
-
Lol! It was Phil Garner in 2000! For those of us of a certain age, these crappy players all end up in one heap.
-
Soto has 9.1 innings, 8 walks and 2 hbps. That's a WHIP of over 1.00 before anyone even hits a fair ball. I agree that he has too much talent to give up on, he needs to be on the team, but it is stupid to say publicly that he will be closing tomorrow night. Stupid to even think it actually, but really stupid to blurt it out.

Someone said exactly that, it might have been earlier than Gardy...I don't remember what year it was. It sounds more like Gardy than Brad.

Legendary airhead C J Nitkowski, who pretty much sucked, once complained about being used in a variety of situations. "Guys want to know what their role is". Sounds like he and Hinch would get along.
-
Because guys have roles
-
Will Vest, keep throwing that slider

Maybe it's not a bad strategy to hit the first two guys

Daz Cameron is getting every opportunity to get his career back on track, batting 3rd every night. His OPS is .581

Slow right-handers are crafty. Slow left-handers are wily. They are wily portsiders.

"Play well, get promoted". The minor leaguers have to believe that that is true.

Well yes but so is his milb up until now. If he is in Toledo because he can't hit, and now his OBP is .380, bring him back and get rid of a Castro.

Agreed, he needs to be evaluated on managing the pitching staff, managing the clubhouse, and motivating the players. I don't see that he is above replacement level in any of those.

Zach Short's OPS is .875 at Toledo. Why isn't he on the Tigers? He would be a backup infielder who can actually play the infield.

And for the opt-out to make sense, someone else would have to want him. After failures in Arizona and Detroit, and a disgraceful player mutiny in Houston, who would that be?

Yeah I watched some of that video. Is that the guy that Oz would be competing against? Oz looks like that 98 pound weakling in the Charles Atlas ads from 1962, compared to Fetterman. He is the exact opposite of the macho candidate that the modern Republicans are trying to project, even though they are all mostly just loud and stupid and not particularly masculine. I know that he puts his hands all over the women that appear on his show but it is in a sort of effeminate way, no one would ever "me too" him because, well "Dr. Oz? Lol!" Here's the Republican fantasy, I carry a lunch pail to work and somehow Dr. Oz "speaks to me". LOLOLOL

Good line from Jimmy Kimmel's writers tonight, with an assist from the drummer: Kimmel: Bill Gates tested positive for Covid. I guess he forgot to update his virus protection. Drummer: ba-da-boom
