That's what Adduci would have done, trade cartons of cigarettes, or access to one of his female associates.

Kevin Rand's training staff has a coat of arms and a motto in Latin, I forget what it is exactly but it loosely translates as "shit happens".

That wouldn't be so bad but it would spread to the rest of the team and there would be amputations

But in all seriousness, those quad strains for Victor Reyes make you question the training staff, that was my first thought when he got the second one.

Lol remember about 10 years ago we wanted to burn Kevin Rand at the stake. I once broke 2 fingers typing the name Kevin Rand.

There's a weird statistical result of Brieske's swing and miss FB...26 innings, 15 K's

Wrong. It is a privilege. You were possibly clever enough to have been born in English speaking North America, I know that I was. And if I have to pay minimum wage in order to make a profit, I don't deserve to be out there. Your post describes the race to the bottom, it isn't good enough. "Equitable distribution of Rewards" is one of the socioeconomic goals listed in the first chapter of Micro.

Faedo and Brieske near the front of the rotation and the season isn't even a quarter done yet. I predicted that in spring training, remember?

I know they won't do it but Skubal looks like a 250 innings guy, he looks like a guy who is not going to get injured. He is so big and strong, and that delivery is so fluid and consistent.

It looks like one roster vacancy has been resolved. There was a lot of concern here about the role of Big Fat Righthanded Reliever and how it might be vacant, but Rony Garcia staked a claim for the job this afternoon.

Is Baddoo injured? He has only played in 2 games. Meanwhile, spring training hero Jack Lopez plays every night.

Correct. It is a privilege to operate a business in a relatively free society, and with that comes a set of responsibilities to stakeholders including employees. If your business can't survive if you pay more than the minimum, you have a shitty business that never made long term sense to begin with. Yes, I do not belong to the Chamber of Commerce.

They had a loaded team from '84 to '87 and only made the World Series once. Different players had good years and bad years, but Gibson was like a metronome - 28 homers, 30 steals, OPS+ in the high 130's.

7 pitch inning for Kluber

Correct, nobody tanks for baseball picks, they aren't worth enough. If a low payroll team ends up with a losing record, the reward is not a better draft position. The low payroll was its own reward.

Yes he's a future 20 game winner.

I know Sweet FA about military strategy and tactics, never having served. But I think I have learned a couple of things, the second of which was intuitively obvious: (a) the Russians apparently do not have senior non-coms. I did not know that. I know that senior non-coms are the heart and soul of a fighting force, even though I have never been in one. (b) the Russians think that if 1,000 tanks are good, 2,000 tanks are twice as good, and they don't need to be defended because they are invincible. Well even I know better than that. Tigers were invincible until Typhoons showed up with rockets. It seemed so odd for that huge column to be sitting there last month, without an infantry company sweeping up 500 meters on each side of the road to defend against those shoulder-mounted nuisance types And now farther east, drones are just picking them off without any defensive measures at all. That seems to be the fatal flaw, that tanks will overwhelm and aren't vulnerable.

Some things just stick in your mind because they are so stupid and this is burned into my brain from the draft of righthander Cade Gaspar in the early 90s: the first two words in the description of his potential were "not overpowering". Not overpowering. What? WTF? I couldn't believe it. Naturally he stunk, and was out of baseball in about 3 or 4 years. That typified drafts for about 20 years.
-
So would I and for decades the org preached the exact opposite. You draft pitching first, and then you trade the excess good ones later for hitting. It's stupid and it never worked, not even once.
-
Yes the vast majority of people are still doing that

I've never owned any Apple devices. I had my first computer on my desk in 1988 and in my home at about the same time, and they had to be IBM compatible so Apple was only used by people in graphic design. Even as recently as 10 years ago if a student put up his hand and said "the learning site won't open" my first question would be "are you using a Mac? You are? Well there is your problem". I couldn't have survived in business or education using Apple products.

At the grocery store today masking was under 20%. Beautiful weather probably has something to do with it.
