  1. Need an RBI man like Joe Carter.
  2. I liked the hard copy of BA 30 years ago because they had minor league stats leaders for every organization.
  3. It's pretty obvious that Avila wasn't losing on purpose tp improve his draft position. He tried to improve the team every year, and wasn't any good at it. If the plan was to lose every year, why did Ausmus get fired? Here's what was said when Gardenhire replaced Ausmus - he would be a calm, wise, veteran presence to guide the core of good young players who were arriving.
  4. I thought he might be from Krypton.
  5. Solak came and went without me learning his first name.
  6. That's a great illustration of why no organization in baseball loses intentionally in order to improve their draft position. The draft picks don't have anywhere near the value that they do in basketball for example where your 1-1 pick is 20% of your starting lineup.
  7. I will definitely accept that about cops, but it doesn't explain support from armed forces people who answered the call that he chickened out on.
  8. When you look at that photo you can almost smell the McPoop.
  9. It always amazes that a guy who so obviously chickened out on military service gets so much support from law enforcement and from certain members of the armed forces.
  10. I don't see Hinch getting fired, he isn't important enough. His resume is the same as every other manager's... he loses with bad players, and wins with good players, although in his case there is an asterisk...good players treat him with contempt. Nevertheless, I think that Harris has too much class to blame this s*** show on Hinch. Hinch really has nothing to do with it.
  11. I remember the first time that I ever saw the phrase "empty batting average" in print, it was in The Sporting News of course, in the mid-70's and specifically referring to Von Joshua who was really awful but who managed a BA of over .300 one year, back when people thought that that was important.
  12. I wouldn't mind leaving both of them where they are for the full year.
  13. Dingler is going to be 25 in September and hasn't played Triple A yet. His performance at Erie this year is very similar to last year, sort of meh. He isn't blocked by anyone special at Toledo so I'd say move him up there and find out if he is ever going to be of use.
  14. I know, someone needs to tell that guy that he isn't a prospect.
  15. Yes there are firefighters from Australia, South Africa and the United States. It's a common occurrence every year for firefighters to travel to the hottest spot. Last year it was California, there were lots of internationals there.
  16. Disagree with that big time, depending upon what you mean by a "good percentage". Do you mean 15%? Because if you do that's 5 times too high. There is no possible way to water down MBS by trying to whatabout other world leaders, the bottom of that barrel that he occupies is shared with at most 10 other leaders. And right now he is second only to Putin.
  17. Lol, I heard a serious response to that today based on particle analysis in the atmosphere where I live, about an hour west of Toronto. If you were outside at my house today, where the air quality was worse than New Delhi, and stayed outside for 24 hours, it would be like smoking between 7 and 10 cigarettes.
  18. Same here and I think that that is the reason why you don't get any impact players for them.
  19. Yes, I watch that and A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim (the black and white version).
  20. That's how I feel about it too, people are talking about Phil Mickelson as if he "won", but how many tens or hundreds of millions did he already have? He's still an ass and so are the rest of the top guys who took the money.
  21. I think I heard that story about Eddie Feigner, the umpire called a strike and the batter said "that sounded like a ball",
  22. I think that something similar might have happened with Roy Halladay?
  23. The good thing about Danny Worth was that as soon as someone told you his batting average, you already knew his OBP and SLG.
