  1. I want a R/R first baseman who bats 7th for his high school team.
  2. Oh no question Redford was the guy to do the combat hero scenes, he would have been wasted as a general.
  3. Hey speaking of A Bridge Too Far, in what bizarro army is Ryan O'Neal a general??? While Robert Redford is a major?
  4. That's great to hear about your daughter.
  5. David Brooks wrote a good piece within the last couple of months about watching a lifelong friend go through it later in life, and the friend did not survive it, and after a while Brooks realized that he was completely unequipped to be of any use to his friend. The words that initially he had thought were "supportive" or "encouraging" just demonstrated how little he had understood about the disease. He eventually decided that the best thing he could do was just listen.
  6. I was hoping to start the season at 8 and 12. That would meaning winning 6 out of the next 11.
  7. I like it. If he really could be a righthanded 20/20 guy, and I still believe that Baddoo is a lefthanded 20/20 guy...well that's what you fantasize about as a fan.
  8. I wonder if he is a new recruit, the cowards who were on duty that day were all sort of obese in my memory.
  9. Devers and Duvall aren't as funny as they think they are.
  10. Eats shoots and leaves...or eats, shoots, and leaves. What is this thing called love?...or, What is this thing called, love?
  11. I'm not going to second-guess Karla, he's been at this for a long time.
  12. I guess if you are looking for weak minds to influence...go after Tigers fans first.
  13. Very true, and I think that it is fair to ask whether or not it has always been used appropriately.
  14. Well, yeah. I try not to lean over your back fence too often, but the idea that "America" could "lose prestige internationally", well, with all respect to my dear friends here, if I were you I would not worry too much about that, that ship sails on a regular schedule. And it does not need any help from any outside interests. Chuck Todd made me snort a few years ago, he was interviewing somebody about the latest appalling shit show in Washington or maybe somewhere else, I don't remember what it was, doesn't matter, but in the middle of the interview he just blurted out "is America losing its moral authority" and after my surprised snort I said to myself "moral authority? MORAL AUTHORITY??? Jesus F Christ Chuck, in what alternate universe has 'America' had 'moral authority' in the eyes of anyone on earth who does not live within its borders, for the past 100 years?" So again, I love all my friends here, and as your friend my advice would be to not get too worried about losing prestige internationally.
  15. That's a concern but I think that he will get a long leash, the entire season but not beyond. I just looked at his career - that monster year in 2019, with the .922 OPS, is the only time that he's ever been over .800. That is getting to be a long time ago, and I fear that the Tigers might have been guilty of some hubris in thinking that "we can get him back to that level", hubris being what every major league team seems to have in common with each other. He is 28 and is arb eligible after this season so Harris will have an easy choice to make based on his performance this year. As of now I would bet $500 (Canadian) that he does not get an offer. It would be great if he could recapture that form and I hope he does, preferably here but somewhere. It just does not seem to be likely. You have to feel for the guy, on top of the world at 24, long career ahead of him (and tens of millions of dollars), and 4 years later at 28 seemingly having lost whatever it was about his talent and skill that previously allowed him to achieve such superior results...and having no way to recapture it. I hope that this does not age well.
  16. Jesus is too woke. You need to get God in on it, he will smite your opponents. Especially them gays.
  17. To me Jake Rogers was always the key to the Verlander trade, I didn't care about Franklin Perez, and Daz Cameron had a famous dad but that's about it. Jake Rogers though, nobody ever questioned his glove or his arm. To me it always seemed that he was the sort of guy you could bat in the 8 spot, and in 135 games he would hit .240 with 22 homers, and that would make him one hell of a number 8 hitter, and combined with potentially elite defense that would make him one of the top 10 catchers in MLB. I still believe that. So if he makes 3 or 4 all star teams, which I think he still could, we might review the Verlander trade and conclude that maybe it wasn't so bad after all.
  18. I know it's only April 6 but I love all the new guys that Harris brought into the organization and I don't miss anyone that he did not bring back.
  19. Oh also...he wants to play third base. https://www.milb.com/video/justyn-henry-malloy-s-diving-stop?t=playerid-669234
  20. I remember asking someone who had been a host family if the organization gave them any guidelines about nutrition, and they just laughed.
  21. Malloy now has 26 PA's with 9 walks! Also 6 hits for a .577 OBP.
  22. He can't see his own.
  23. Bannon thinks that a Kennedy is a big name? That surprises me, I would have thought that in most peoples' opinion the next generations of Kennedys are all half-wits.
  24. With all these new guys playing so well early on, it's been almost a week since anyone complained that "Harris didn't do anything all winter. All he did was save money for Ilitch."
  25. Dyin's too good for them Red Sox.
