  1. I remember a quote in here from April 2022: "I love the way Hinch has these guys playing! This isn't last year's team at all!"
  2. He walks slowly and oozes a trail of slime.
  3. He sounds like kind of a weird kid who just wanted to impress his online incel friends.
  4. Black players have generally been missing for decades. The "next Willie Mays" is still out there but he plays point guard or quarterback.
  5. Tampa loses again lol. On their way to 13-13.
  6. Me too, I think I might have 35-5 etched on my gravestone, along with a hand with the middle finger extended.
  7. Malloy too, but he is young enough to stay and play third base every day, maybe all year.
  8. Tampa loses 6-3, giving up 2 bases loaded walks and a horrifically botched routine grounder to short.
  9. I would definitely like to see him.
  10. The Giants are only 1 game better than the Tigers.
  11. Bunt when there is already a runner at third?????
  12. Harlan Crow is a great name for a super villain. Which he is.
  13. Poor old Connie. Come on George, pour her one more. Describing this kid as "a Christian" is, to 55% of the population, just about the most hilarious thing that you could say about him. To the other 45% it is the most important emblem of their racism and misogyny.
  14. If it makes anyone feel any better, here is how the 2021 super 5 free agent shortstops are doing YTD in 2023: Playing at an excellent level: Seager Playing like ****: Semien, Correa (when he plays at all), Baez Not playing, for the foreseeable future: Story So, it's sort of a cautionary tale about free agency. It seems like the ROI on free agent contracts frequently ends up being perceived to be negative.
  15. Malloy's OBP is .536 and he is starting to show some power, his ISO is .122.
  16. I want Jake Rogers to catch 130 games, bat .240 with 22 home runs, and play stellar defense.
  17. I still like all the players that he acquired, a lot more than the players they replaced. Acquiring a couple of relievers would have been good too but they are very unpredictable.
  18. Hinch isn't going to get fired. What would be the point? He won't quit either, this might already be his last big league job.
  19. Managerial wins? That's a bit like "pitching wins" isn't it? Or RBI?
  20. Something else that we were pleased with last year was what a miracle worker Chris Fetter was. He was mentioned regularly in game threads. This year, not so often. .
  21. Yes that's my beef with tonight, he could have seized the win in the ninth with Lange, and bad teams desperately need wins. Any fool can fill out a lineup card for the 2017 Astros. But a manager of a bad team needs to throw the book away and do something creative to grab a win when it is staring you in the face, when it so rarely does so.
  22. Yes I think Billy Martin could make a difference with good players who were underachieving, in the short term.
  23. Right, there is no evidence, and never was, to suggest that he is anything other than replacement level. Or that any other manager is. I saw a John Gibbons interview tonight, he was asked what the most important key to success for a manager is, and he didn't hesitate: "Good players".
  24. Hey everybody, get your arm in shape and watch for the next tryout camp.
