  1. Malloy, in 16 PA's, has 5 hits and 5 walks.
  2. Nevin is 4 for 5 and batting .611
  3. I'd almost rather have that handgun nut job that used to be in here.
  4. Imagine following Eric Trump on Twitter.
  5. Also Nevin kept his hitting streak going with a double, and his OPS is 1.615. I love small samples.
  6. I wonder if 50 is his limit?
  7. Mudhens win 9-2. Baddoo hit a double and a monster home run for 5 RBIs, Meadows and Malloy had 2 hits each.
  8. Solid win, better record than the Astros now.
  9. Good game Manning, hope they get out of the inning.
  10. Excellent point. When Cabrera takes the night off, some other possibilities open up, like playing Carpenter's bat but not his glove. I'm not complaining, it's been blindingly obvious for 2 years that Cabrera was going to play out the contract, and if he doesn't hurt himself he's going to get 400 PA's this year, so we might as well keep smiling because we can't change it. But the games when he doesn't play will be more interesting.
  11. Raise your hand if you thought that Garrett Hill would even be on the team after spring training.
  12. In the land of small sample sizes, Vierling raised his OPS by 916 points, and tied for the team lead in runs, hits, home runs and RBIs. He leads all 3 slash categories at .333/.333/.583. So, I propose that we let him stay for another week before we ship him out to Toledo.
  13. Yes, he can skate out as the second star.
  14. I knew that we had won by the look on your face.
  15. Player of the game, Matt Vierling!
  16. Tigers draw 3 walks in one inning, all with 2 out.
  17. I don't think that Hinch does any particular harm, or any particular good. It makes no sense to fire him, with the team being so lousy. And there is no way that he would quit, there is no market for his services based on his performance here and the mutiny in Houston. He will serve out this contract and quite possibly get an extension. If the Tigers ever get to be a really good team, he might not be the right leader.
  18. Wil Myers is garbage, I would have been furious if Harris had signed him. He missed out on Haniger, the only worthwhile fit for this team, so OK presumably he made an effort there but was outbid. As for the other FA's I wouldn't touch Correa with a 10 foot pole so please don't bore me by saying that he would not have signed here, nobody cares, and none of the other FA's made sense either. So I think that we should stop fantasizing about these major league bats that could have been added - there weren't any. Harris spent his time cleaning dead wood out of the bench and the bullpen, the scouting organization, and the training staff. He did not trade for a major league bat because he has SFA to offer in exchange. I think that his offseason was a B plus.
  19. Besides Haniger, I just didn't like any of the free agents, not for the inflated prices and injury risk. None of them made sense. So I don't think that Harris wasted his offseason by not signing any of them.
  20. Same here, there was some interest in Haniger among people here, but he's the only one I can think of. I wasn't interested in any of the other free agent hitters, not for the money that their agents were trying to get. I'm trying to get through one more year of Cabrera, I don't need to set out on another odyssey that ends the same way.
  21. Well done Jake. Prepare to catch 125 games this year.
