  1. Tork hit the first pitch. Changeup down the middle.
  2. 13 pitches for Beau, 9 strikes. GameDay thinks he is throwing 96.
  3. You should write restaurant reviews.
  4. Just based on his close-up photo Beau Briske looks like he can handle a deck of cards.
  5. She made sure to use the word "patriot" there too, which is now a value-loaded dog whistle word unfit for use by anyone except a white supremacist. "Heritage" has been ruined in the same way.
  6. Javy Baez last 15 games, .910 OPS.
  7. I was thinking that too. Do they like him enough to give him an org job?
  8. Nice win, Soto was in control in the 9th.
  9. Just watched the video of Javy's slam, oh boy did he hit the shit out of that one. He swings so hard that it is sort of unlikely that he is going to connect, but when he does it is beautiful to see. It would be nice to see it more often of course.
  10. Those WWII news videos have always amazed me, when you see a truck with a big mattress box full of rockets pull up, and then the rockets go off...how the heck did they have any idea where those were landing?
  11. Well said, thank you. Moderators here like you are very tolerant, but there is a limit associated with intelligent discourse.
  12. That's spot on, that is what is so bewildering to the rest of us, why is 30% of your population exactly like her? The rest of us have about 15%. Does it have something to do with how your origin story is taught in elementary school?
  13. I will hold your jacket
  14. They were lucky to get what they got, there was no market at all for one-dimensional righthanded power.
  15. I don't see any of those guys as being able to elevate the performance of mediocre players.
  16. Proven coaches? I honestly can't think of anyone.
  17. He did? When? I missed that. The only "coach" that he has recently signed "won" only one championship with a ridiculously loaded team that openly defied him. That coach would be in Double A right now if Al Avila had not outbid himself to sign him, nobody else would have touched the guy with a 10 foot pole. I rank that among Avila's worst signings, not his best. When Chris Ilich finally removes any real accountability from Al Avila and kicks him upstairs, the hogwash that Avila sold him about Hinch will have been a major factor.
  18. Cabrera is going to play in 2023. He is hitting .300 and will never accept any humiliating roles like "special advisor".
  19. Kenny Rosenthal reported the imminent trade of JD Martinez every week for about a year.
  20. 3 homer games are nice, Tuffy Rhodes had one of those. And in such a small sample it will raise your OPS+ from 87 to 130. But to say that he is succeeding seems a bit premature with that .274 OBP.
  21. That's true but comparing him to Schoop and Candelario this year does not make him a good player. I like Paredes, I wish him well and I am impressed as heck with the Mexican Pacific batting title, you have to hit the breaking ball there or starve to death. But the fact is that so far this year he still can't get on base in the majors, the power surge is nice and I hope it continues so that he can make some money, but he isn't a good player and Tampa hasn't magically unlocked anything. I still think the trade is fair to both teams.
  22. Just to present the complete story on Paredes, going into the game his OBP was .242 and his OPS+ was 87. We still have lots of guys who can't get on base, and aren't really missing him that much.
  23. That's outrageous. My wife has a rare neurological condition that compromises lung function. This has been going on for 2 years, she has been hospitalized about 5 times for several days at a time, and has had a couple of different intravenous therapies, several times each, and the cost of these is tens of thousands of dollars. She is now approved for an experimental therapy that would cost hundreds of thousands. If we lived in the United States, we would have had to sell our house. That's absolutely true, no exaggeration. But, it has not cost us anything, except ten bucks here and there for pharmacy fees. We don't have private insurance, don't need it. I can pay the dentist and the optometrist by myself. You need to put a stop to this bullshit but here is your problem, the pitchman is Bernie Sanders whose personal brand requires him to present health care as wildly far-left socialist democracy when, in the rest of the civilized world without exception, it is the most centrist position that a politician could adopt. He dooms it to failure all by himself, because his brand is so important.
