  1. Yes, Willi isn't a good enough hitter to play the outfield, especially the way that he plays it. He is a .620 OPS guy, marginally higher at the moment, and that mysterious interlude of 2019 - 2020 where he could actually hit is disappearing quickly in the rear view mirror. You can't have a .620 guy in the outfield unless he is Gary Pettis.
  2. This is correct. Governments will always be able to buy jobs with tax breaks, and corporate carpetbaggers will always accept them. Ireland tried this in the 1980's, they offered a 10 year tax holiday and some other incentives, and a lot of multinationals established new operations there. When the 10 years were up, everybody left, almost overnight.
  3. I want to hear more about this for sure. Cutting out the insurers is a strong move.
  4. Here is something that I have noticed...everyone in the world except me makes a lot of noise when they are chewing.
  5. Yeah I think he's 6 for 26 or something like that since his return to Toledo, which is gradual improvement.
  6. Baddoo with a BB and an SB last night, I think that's 7 BB in 8 games.
  7. I don't know if Chris cares about the product but if he does, does he feel some dread about having to let this guy go "who was so loyal to my Dad"?
  8. Not all of us!
  9. I want a R/R first baseman who hits 7th for his high school team.
  10. He fills a need, a vacancy that currently exists: "a player that I am interested in".
  11. I feel like he filled out a lineup card with Bregman, Altuve, Correa, Gurriel, Springer and Marwan G. And only won one World Series with that loaded team, much like Sparky here in the '80's. The cheating never bothered me but what is telling is the contempt that the players showed for him, by refusing to stop when he told them to. And after his teams' performance the past 2 years I think his agent should be putting out feelers to the top university programs, pick one, and become one of those legendary 30 year coaches. Because he'll never work in the majors again.
  12. Well, there it is again, the friendly disagreement about Hinch's market value, in which some people think he could actually get another job if he were to quit this one.
  13. I noticed that too - 1-for-3 with a walk the night before, and then he doesn't play.
  14. John Oliver says that Spiro Agnew is an anagram for Grow A Penis.
  15. Too factual.
  16. Yes his OPS is in the .700s now, used to be in the .400s, so he's been doing better
  17. I continue to be mystified by the idea that somehow Hinch is qualified to be a GM. There isn't a shred of evidence to support it.
  18. Good thoughts and I too would not fire him now, what's the point, but I would do it on November 1 for sure, along with Hinch and the entire coaching staff, yes Fetters and Lombard, they are welcome to re-apply to the new GM. Never happen, Chris isn't interested in W/L.
  19. They wanted him but not at Lindor money, that's crazy, he doesn't play often enough.
  20. Wait...didn't the Tigers offer Correa 10 years? I thought that I heard that that was the only serious offer that he got, and he turned it down because it didn't have Lindor's AAV, which he wasn't ever going to get because of his injury history. So, what's all this about not wanting him for 10 years? Where is that coming from? Isn't that exactly what they offered him?
  21. Yes, and that's why he will never get it. You're the GM, you go to the owner and you say we need to hire...this guy? With his resume? Never in a million years. There is only one Chris Ilitch.
  22. Or you could admit that you just made it up when you said "some people seem to want that".
  23. Chris isn't going to fire Avila. But if he did, he would absolutely fire Hinch too. The new GM picks his own manager. Chris isn't going to fire Avila. But if he did, a key reason might be the load of BS that Avila gave him about Hinch being a miracle worker.
  24. "everyone is finally getting on board" In other words, you can identify some people who previously were not "on board", and who thought that Avila should keep his job. I wish you would because the rest of us are saying that no such person ever existed on this forum or its predecessor.
  25. It's a fair question though, do you think that anyone here wants to keep Al? I don't ever remember anyone saying that.
