  1. I've spent about 50 years or so of my life navigating the PA Turnpike. Six hours in on a highway is still 6 hours. Still would rather deal with te Turnpike than sit in traffic on 80/94
  2. Yea, but the drive from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh takes as long as the drive from Detroit to Chicago.
  3. Not baseball, but take a look at the recent goings on in DC with the Caps and the Wizards. Va's Governor made a deal with the owner to move the teams across the river to Alexandria. That raised a bit of an uproar since a large portion of fans live in Maryland. The site was also in a very congested area. The state general assembly kills the funding bill and the owners and DC come to agreement within a week or so. The General assembly has also been screwing around with the Commanders new stadium location. With the new owner, it will be interesting to see what transpires. Meanwhile in Richmond, who knows what's happening on the baseball park front.
  4. The running earthquake joke on the platform formerly known as Twitter (outside the MTG take) is the fact the earthquake center was only a few miles from DJT's golf course. Someone rolling in her grave???
  5. Mitch is complicit as much as DJT & Co
  6. "A pizza walks into the ballpark...."
  7. Craig is way too pumped. He's like that guy three rows behind you who never shuts up during the game. They need to give him some tranquilizers before the game.
  8. There are some people who should never ever be aloud to talk politics on TV. The guy jumped the shark when he hooked up with Pam Anderson and has gone downhill since
  9. Looks like they got out of NY just in time 4.8 earthquake edit, hope Sue's OK
  10. The economy really is in the dumpster...
  11. "If those folks from NY, NJ, Fla, and Texas stop moving in then maybe they'll stop cutting down all the trees and building subdivisions on unwanted farmland" That seems to be the current trend on Nextdoor. Or to quote a waitress from Western North Carolina a few years ago. "This place would be better if it weren't for the "Half-Backs" Hey but that was before Trump and Fox started screaming about the Mexican boarder.
  12. Works for me, turned it back on just in time to see the no no come to an end. Figured I jinxed it and turned it off
  13. Danny Murtaugh's son Tim played minor league ball for a while. He managed in Salem for a season in the early 70s. Danny had retired (briefly) then. He was at the game with his toddler grandson. I wasn't one to just walk up to a celebrity then. Talked my younger brother into asking for an autograph.
  14. Listening to the Mets TV team. Used to listen Gary Cohen back in the 80s. He spent some time doing the Norfolk Tides broadcast in those days. Incidently he was employed at the same radio station as Bob Rathbun. They were here at the same time.
  15. They still have a piece of my heart. Family homestead was about 30 miles west of Pittsburgh, near McKeesport. I was 8 in 1960. My son was born 9 months after the We Are Family Bucs won the series. When we moved south in the mid '60, one of the Pirates farm clubs were in nearby Salem, first as their Rookie League team, then Class A Salem. It was fun watching guys like Dave Parker, Ed Ott, John Candelaria and Omar Moreno come up in the minors.
  16. First time I've ever seen that call. Umpire interference
  17. Sorry for the double post above. Two topics on one replay. Getting old and multi tasking is hell sometimes
  18. To me the false argument is trying to argue about the pandemic economy vs the current state. I can go back to 2017 when we sold our house and began downsizing. A two bedroom bath ranch apartment cost us about 1300 a month in March of 2017. It was a move in special on a 16 month lease....it went up to just over 1600 when we renewed in 2018. If we would have renewed the end of 2020 it would have been around 1800 or more. Now they're asking about 2050 for the same apartment. Our current Mortgage for a similar sized townhouse is about 1400 a month. Gas prices fluctuated as they always do under every administration. Food prices have gone up just about every year since I moved out of my parents home in 1973, but then I'm also making more than $150 a week than I did back then and thank to things like IRA's and HSA's were in decent shape. Hell yes I'm better off than I was 4 or even 8 years ago.
  19. Not saying there was an economic plan but some people forget that Obama's successor's staff basically tore up and trashed a plan to deal with a possible pandemic
