  1. I don't how drastically things have changed in recent years. But entities like Fox and CNN are basically cable as opposed to stations that air programs from say CBS, NBC, Fox (local stations, the Simpson, NFL games) over the air. FCC regs at one time regulated what they considered "offensive" content like nudity and profane language. Cable isn't covered legally if I remember correctly. Going back to the dark ages, Morning Zoos walked a finer line than say shows on satellite stations like XM and Sirius.
  2. Kind of a big thing around here. Colonial Williamsburg will be moving the Bray School building from near the William and Mary campus to a prominent location within the Historic area. The Bray School is the oldest building set up to educate Black children in the 1760. The school taught both free and enslaved blacks. https://www.colonialwilliamsburg.org/learn/research-and-education/architectural-research/williamsburg-bray-school-initiative/ They are physically moving the building back to near its original spot and will hold a ceremony tomorrow afternoon. Among the dignitaries speaking will be the Governor. The very same Governor who ran a major part of his campaign speaking out against CRT. Should be interesting. I hope he wears an appropriate vest for the event.
  3. I learned a new term today...STROAD. They're just about everywhere.
  4. I will say she is correct about one thing. The political dividing line in the US is a choice between normal and crazy.
  5. Did anybody actually watch Sarah Huckabee's "rebuttal" last night? From what I read it seemed like a Festivus like airing of grievances comparable only to Bobby Jindal's and Marco Rubio's oratory. Not to mention calling out the entire party by saying they need younger and more hip leadership. (I guess that makes her old boss happy) Does anyone vet these speeches? Or is it open mike night at the QOP Improv Club?
  6. Interesting thread on the selection of thde"Designated Survivor". TBH I thought they had a lottery...
  7. Buddy's Pizza
  8. So 4 days in a dark house. I'm guessing lots of 'schrooms...
  9. Since he lost his primary to Trumpers in his district I would assume Meijer to be a longshot unless thimgs change. Of course it depends on competition. He could qualify as a recipient of Koch money
  10. I've read a bit about the Wall Lake dance hall and amusement park, but until very recently know that the guy who owned it was also the last owners of Edgewater Park http://www.lorimarshick.com/WLHistory.html
  11. Just take a quick look at Noah and his daughters
  12. From my perusal of places like Camp Peary on Google Earth I have a feeling there is a lot we mere mortals can't see.
  13. I've been a big fan of Raitt since way back to the Streetlights LP...Just starting to follow Ms Carlyle. It may have been the Highwy Women stuff that caught my attention.
  14. I don't think anyone of them actually shot their weapons. What would have happened if a stray bullet from a MEGA actually hit someone, or a flying object.
  15. His first full season with Detroit he used an outfielders glove at third. The biggest knock on Hojo was he couldn't handle pressure. Sparky believed and so did Davy Johnson with the Mets. The teams always seemed to have someone better coming up to take his place. https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/Howard-Johnson/
  16. Just wondering if it would be worth it to put the games on one of the commercial stations’ sub channels. I’m thinking it might be more watchable than old westerns and sitcoms. Since most of the sub channels are already on a lot of cable systems anyway. Plus you get the over the air capabilities. A bit of a throwback actually. It might also give you the possibility of streaming on a subscription basis as well
  17. I’m old enough to remember when Public Television actually showed teachers teaching. Thankfully we now have the Michigan Learning Channel
  18. Imagine the outcry if we had shot down the balloon and took out several head of cattle or worse
  19. It seems like Ohio's views are similar to Virginia. I haven't been paying real close attention these days since my drug of choice is a nice Petit Verdot, or maybe a Merlot. The GA is still stumbling along with rules on medicinal pot, heaven forbid letting the general public get a hold of it. Meanwhile vape shops are sprouting up all over. They're almost as numerous as gun shops and Colorado licensing classes. Brewhouses are starting to bloom as well, they're actually starting to allow them to sell food on premises rather than parking a food truck outside. Progress. Personally I think Virginia already has the perfect business plan already in place. ABC stores. You want something harder than beer and wine, go to the state store. The state keeps the profits (and the taxes). Do the same with pot, cut out the middleman. They subsidized winegrowers in the '80s and '90s to offset the loss of the tobacco industry. Maybe they can do the same with marijuana.
