Week Thirteen: Chicago Bears (4-7) @ Detroit Lions (10-1)
CMRivdogs replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
The Bears new interim head coach is their interim offensive coordinator. He's also has had a history with the Rams and Sean McVay in 2020. If the Bears go after Ben Johnson, maybe they take a look at him? -
Especially most of those watching TV probably won't be driving anyway. Are you guys far enough into the wintery portion of the season where most people remember how to drive in snow?

Such an uplifting message from the incoming guy https://politicalwire.com/2024/11/28/speaking-of-thanks/

I don't put it all on Caleb. He was trying to get the other 10 in position. The rest of the offense was treating it like they had lots of time left. No time clock awareness there. -

The Bears lollygaged to the line, he only had about 8 seconds or so to get the play off. Somebody needed to call a timeout just to get organized. -

The New England Colonies (Mass, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Maryland) were basically established as a refuge to religious persecution. Virginia and New York were considered more commercial enterprises. By the time we got from 1619 to somewhere around the 1770s I believe it may have been a mixed bag. Governor Dunmore's proclamation was probably an attempt to tamp down on the dissent brewing in the Virginia Colony following the crackdown in Boston. Still the Church of England was the preferred version of the crown. At least in Virginia some Baptist ministers were jailed for their beliefs. Non Anglicans were heavily taxed to support the King's Church

To me the bottom line is when "Right to Lifers" put in as much effort to promoting the quality of life for those already born as they do to the "unborn"

I agree with this up to one sticking point. When the American Colonies were under British rule, there was only one religion mandated by the King. True it was "Christian" but every citizen had to pay homage to the Church of England (Thanks to Henry VII). Which basically ment that if you were Jewish, Baptist, Muslim or Heaven forbid Catholic, you were considered a heretic. A major example, in 1774 when the Virginia House of Burgess voted to declare a day of "Fasting, Humiliation, and Prayer" in support of the Massachusetts Colony following the sanctions impose in response to the "Tea Party". The Royal Governor disbanded the House. "Because only the King can declare a religious day" https://www.ouramericanrevolution.org/index.cfm/page/view/p0206#:~:text=On May 24%2C 1774%2C after, threatens destruction to our Civil

About those tariffs... Remember when "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" tried to teach us about tariffs and no one was paying attention

If the mods prefer to move this to a different forum feel free. George Will is celebrating his 50th anniversary as a columnist. One of my favorite baseball books is his Men at Work:The craft of baseball. Ken Burns has interviewed Will several times for his documentaries, including his one on baseball. This is a good piece about their relationship.... https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/11/24/george-will-discipline-baseball-jefferson-roosevelt/

This is an extremely long thread, just posting the link. It gives the timeline from 1/6/21 to the Supreme Court's decision on Trump's attempt to overthrow the government. Well worth reading https://bsky.app/profile/muellershewrote.bsky.social/post/3lbutkhi4hk2a There is a lot more to digest. You might need some wine

50 acres and they can run til their hearts content. I would love that, it would relieve me of the "politics" of the dog park. (I don't mean red/blue politics). It's the my dog pooped but I'm too lazy to clean up. Or the person who has the aggressive dog and is too busy socializing to pay attention to it. Or that one person who always brings treats and gets angry when it's mobbed by a pack of canines.

Curmudgeon rambling #2. #3 (They're related). A) There is quite a bit of construction around the area, basically clearing land for future development. That means there is a small army of "work vehicles" basically dump trucks that carry dirt from places being cleared to places that take the dirt. These trucks are usually older private contractors, and carry big orange signs that say "Work Vehicle". I'm ok with that, that's what they do. What peeves me is the fact that many of them can't go faster than 60 MPH and tie up traffic (especially during the morning commute). If your vehicle or you as a driver are uncomfortable with the posted speed limit, stay off the interstate. Use surface routes. It's safer for all of us. B) Somewhat related, major highways (interstates, divided freeways and such) have on/off ramps. It should be basic driver knowledge how to use them. The ramps are to give you time to safely merge into traffic, allow you to get up to speed and adjust it accordingly to vehicles already using the roadway. It doesn't mean you have to use the entire runway then randomly cut into traffic. If you can't handle it stay on the surface streets. We will all be happier. Thanks for your patience

Feeling curmudgeonly today, a couple of peeves in separate posts. We live in a suburban subdivision in a fairly rural area (exurbs). I've been seeing several posts lately about "lost" cats. Hey, you're the ones who allow your cats to roam unfettered around the neighborhoods. Why do you let them out every day and/or open your fence gate so they can escape and leave their feces in our yards. If your cat is a wanderer, get a tracking device. There are chips, I'm sure there are small devices that attach to their collars or can be implanted that will connect to your cell phone. Or maybe just move to a farm.

Unfortunately a lot of the incompetent people around him won't be tempered by a cadre of folks who actually know how government works. And those who do have nefarious intentions.
