  1. The fact the Jamo threw the pass to a covered receiver was the problem. Not sure how they coach that play but if the WR is covered he should either tried to run or throw it away.
  2. They still put up over 500 yards of offense, Ben wasn't the problem. With how bad the defense was playing he probably felt they needed to take some chances to keep up.
  3. I was a huge fan in 1984, and had been for about 10 years so i followed as most of that team as they came up thorugh the minors. I subscribed to The Sporting News and Baseball Digest and bought a bunch of preseason mags like Streets and Smiths. It seemed like they were due for a divisional title, they were pretty good in 82 and 83 but from the start they exceded everyones expectations. I wasn't old enough to remember the last ttime they had been in the playoffs so 84 was the first time going through that for me. The rest of the Detroit sports teams were horrible during this era too. I enlisted in the Army after HS and went to basic on October 4, so i missed the entire playoff run. And the first few weeks in basic you aren't even allowed to read newspapers, so the only way i could follow them was looking at the front page of the USA Today at the PX as we walked by. My friends recorded it for me and so i was able to see the games later on.
  4. Wright i think graded out as average as a blocker. And he doesn't bring much to the table as a receiver aside from being able to find an open area in a zone. All the other non-Laporta TE's aren't great blockers either. I wouldn't be surprised to see them target an abover average blocker in the draft like AJ Barner.
  5. I thought Titus Young ran the wrong routes on purpose and Shawn Jefferson was ready to fight him on the sideline. I don't believe he played another game after that.
  6. He's a Ohio guy and a great recruiter. It's a huge get for Sherrone.
  7. It is sold under numerous names but they all affect the way the body digests food. I was on it for diabetes and had constant nausea. I quit after 2 months of throwing up a couple times a week. For a non-diabetic to get this stuff i believe its about $1000 a month, it may have come down some though.
  8. You may have to wait until the draft.
  9. They have a lot of guys on the team that are going to get paid soon so i think thath they don't wan't to add many long term commitments. Davenport and Davis are both signed for just next year.
  10. Walter Football gave the Bears a "Millen" grade for the Swift signing lol.
  11. They could trade for one, that was the Rams MO with Ramsey and Stafford. You pay in draft picks though.
  12. The Jets just took Breece Hall. Although he has been injured and teams like two backs these days.
  13. The circumstances now are far different than they have been in the first two years. Not only do they have a much better team but they are in a better postion cap wise as well. One of The Athletic's rumor guys said the Lions are looking to add a top flight corner this off season. Personally that is what i'd like to see. If you rely on the draft and the mid level free agent bin it's probably 50/50 that you get a guy better than Cam Sutton.
  14. Holmes has shown he will trade up to get a player they value. If they want a CB that looks like a starter right away they probably will have to trade up.
  15. I think the big question is will they go after a big fish in FA or bring in a few affordable types like they have been. I'd like to see them bring in another impact guy for the defense, either at CB or someone who can get to the QB. I know they have a few big contracts coming up though so they may not want to go that route. If they avoid the big guys in FA they should look into trading up in the first to get a more immediate impact guy.
  16. I think there is virtually no chance the Lions don't pay Goff. The risk is just not worth it now that they are actually a superbowl contender, with him playing as well as he has.
  17. You wonder what would Johnson could do with another similarly skilled QB in this offense. Like say Mac Jones or David Carr. I think Goff's accuracy and his QB processor speed would separate him from guys like that. The potential for taking a chance on a guy like that to save cap space would not be worth it. If the Lions did let Goff go and their handpicked replacemant failed it would burn up all of the fan support they have now.
  18. That is a good point. In the Baltimore game he threw some ugly passes, just looked it up and it was a 16 mph wind in that game.
  19. It was this guy:
  20. The athletic had a mock draft up yesterday. Mocks are usually worthless, double so trying to predict what Holmes will do. That said they had the Lions take T'Vondre Sweat the 360 lbs DT from Texas in the first. And in the second TJ Tampa a CB.
  21. i don't know Hooker's value, but it was a 3rd rounder last year when he was hurt. It has to be in the same range since he is healthy, though a year of the rookie contract will have elapsed.
  22. We have edges in Paschel as a 4 tech and Houston as a 5. You can usually find an older veteran that can still get to QB at an affordalble price in free agency to rotate in. I think they need a DT that can get to the QB just as bad as help on the edge.
  23. I really hope they address the CB postion in free agency or a big trade. CB's taken at the bottom of the first can take a while to develop unless you get lucky. I'd still take one if they find a guy that they like though.
  24. And if Matt Patricia couldn't turn things around, things must really be bad.
  25. When you look how many great players teams like the Braves and Blue Jays have signed it's unbelievable that the Tigers have produced so few. You'd think they would have lucked into a few. They would have been far better off to just identify the best player and try to outbid everyone else for him. It should have been pretty clear to the FO that they were unable to develope those guys.
