  1. I believe Anderson is injured, because he was hitting before he went on the IL earlier this year. That is what i am hoping anyways because i am holding him on my fantasy team. There are a few underacheivers/constantly hurt guys on that Sox team, he could be someone who could benefit from a new home. Not that the deal would happen anyways due to the contracts like someone pointed out.
  2. I've been bitching about this for years. That has been going on for a while. I believe the Tigers were underfunding the development staff and drafting guys after a few years in college. Not singling out a specific pick or draft, just overall for the last several years. I think their inept development shows up in the lack of international success stories too. The few they have originally signed that have acheived success have done so after moving on to other organizations.
  3. The Tigers desparately needed center of the diamond prospects and they have a couple now.
  4. I think it was Law who said Skenes, Langford and Crews would be top 15 immediately. Not sure about Clark but shouldn't be too far behind them.
  5. Jacob Turner brought back Infante and Anibal Sanchez I think.
  6. There are so many variables on this roster to commit to big time free agents. Mize, Manning Skubal, Tork, Baez, not to mention a fairly barren farm system. With a bunch of money coming off the books I can see them trying to sign a couple of shorter term deals while they sort out all of the injured pitchers they have.
  7. Parker reminds me now of the next Jake Marisnick. Like you said hopefully he can take another step.
  8. PFF just ranked all positions and Goff ranked 16th amongst QB's, behind Geno Smith and Derek Carr. It is based on the upcoming 2023 season, not future value. I would have Goff higher than that but it shows what others think of him. With very little mobility and an average at best arm he has a ceiling that is much lower than other more talented QB's. It also limits play calling a bit too. I believe they want to see what they have in Hooker before they hand out a 160M 4 year deal to Goff. Also why do a deal now when he could get hurt this year and they would be stuck with him.
  9. I get the feeling Harris wants to get this ship headed in right direction before he makes any major aquistions. Right now it's still basically the same team as last year, just a few deck chairs rearranged. Although if they are in the thick of a playoff race come the trade deadline that probably changes the math a little. They may hang onto a piece or two, but they won't sacrifice a nice prospect to help the team either.
  10. I 'm saying if you take an objective view of this franchise and where they are at, now is not the time to hold on to volatile assets like young relievers and players close to free agency. It will be a while before they know what they have in Mize and Jobe, and they just can't sit still for another year.
  11. This team still needs a lot of help. They are about to trade their best starting pitcher, their only above average one at that. The rest of the rotation are 5th-6th starters. The pen is ok but that of course can change on a dime. The young pitching they do have are all hurt and can't be counted on to provide maybe one decent guy for the rotation. The stariting line up is loaded with second division regulars. And they have one of the worst farm systems in baseball. I think it's more likely they trade Lange and continue building for future than not. And the next year will be another off season of low level aqusitions and roster churn.
  12. I wonder if this new regime will be more cognizant of manipulating service time. The last one didn't seem to give a damn.
  13. The Lions should look into Matt Ioannidis. Checks a lot boxes. 3T, team captain, only 29. He had 8.5 sacks from the interior Dline a few years ago. PFF Rank 92 Matt Ioannidis POSITION DI AGE 29.3 STATUS Unsigned 2022 TEAM CAR PROJECTED CONTRACT 2023 TEAM — 2023 CONTRACT — Ioannidis was one of the more surprising cap casualties heading into 2022, ultimately landing with the Carolina Panthers on a one-year, $5.9 million flier. He paired well with nose tackle Derrick Brown as a lighter pass-rusher up the middle. Ioannidis has missed time here and there in recent seasons with injuries, but he's been a consistently strong pass-rusher from the interior, earning pass-rush grades of 69.1 or better in each of the last six seasons with a pressure rate around 10% in each of the last two. He can help a lot of teams make things tough on opposing quarterbacks
  14. Positional value isn't a one size fits all argument. If you have a team ready to win in the playoffs and they fill a few need with top draft picks, that is different than a bad team with holes all over the place taking a RB early for example. When they really need impact players. They wind up wasting a few years of RBs career while they are building a team I don't think SF giving up a bunch of picks for McCaffery last year regrets what they did.
  15. My father in law passed away yesterday from cancer, he was the finest man I have ever met. I will miss him. He was a huge Tigers fan and we went to a few games every year along with a few Caps games. He married his high school sweetheart and they were together for 59 years. He worked in sales and they kept him on until he was 78 years old because they knew they may have lost a few accounts if he left. My wife and I, and her brother, were going through pictures and scrapbooks for the visitation this week and found stuff going back to his youth. Just awesome stuff. His mother saved everything, we found pony league team pictures starting from when he was like 10 years old. And she saved numerous press papers of his baseball accomplishments. He was a very good player and would go on to coach Crestons baseball team for a few years. Attached are a couple of pictures of him from the newspapers that we found from the 50s. A side note, the news back then was much more local. Stories in the paper I saw were about a man who had his fence destroyed by an automobile. A depressed mother attempted suicide. And lots of stuff on high school sports. I know somewhere Al is young again and playing baseball. That is him on the far right in the team picture.
  16. If you told me who the lions drafted and what picks they had, I don't think I would have matched any of them up.
  17. They still desperately need a 3T, so it may be Benton. But their board clearly does not align with the pundits and they are drafting according to their board, and not need. Personally i like Campbell and Gibbs, I just hate the thought of losing out on a potential multi year probowler at a position of need in Carter. And a shutdown corner in Gonzales. Campbell and Gibbs feel like the safe picks with lower ceilings and higher floors as far as overall impact.
  18. I like Gibbs and Campbell. We may trade into the back of the first.
