Put another way: I believe that Goff is definitely important... yes. But our O-Line is CRITICAL to our success. It is critical for Goff's success. And it is critical to our running game, without which, Goff becomes way too ineffective. For short periods, or for a certain opponent (defense) or for a catch-up pass-like-crazy situation... I love Goff. But I don't think we win games if we don't have a running game. I believe it is critical for Goff's success. And since the O-Line is critical, for both... And Glasgow has absolutely saved this O-Line, this year... I'm sticking with him.

The O-Line? I'm sticking with Glasgow... At least for now...

Maybe... not disputing the warmth of his seat... But Wilson's a **** QB. Jets fans here HATE Zach Wilson. I think... both the fans AND the team are ready to move on from him as soon as possible...

Week Thirteen: Detroit Lions (8-3) @ New Orleans Saints (5-6)
1984Echoes replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
Even if just for one quarter each. However, if they were to do that... I think it'd be next year, not this year. This year it'd be Bridgewater getting those quarters, because he's the one we need to have ready for the playoffs... just in case of injury. -

Just give Goff his extension. Worry about Hooker later. He'll (Hooker) be a good backup for the next few years, not counting this one. -
As it pertains to religion... If I were to write a novel, "Third Universe", I would write it under the assumptions that the "Universe" has no beginning, and no end, and is actually not the FIRST or the ONLY Universe... but that it is the Third Universe (made of "matter", in sequence) that has ever been in existence. Just to play with that...

It's an extremely difficult point to get past. And we don't have the exact answer to that. At least not yet. I like my "weird" Sci-fi version though... If I try to get back into my sci-fi writing I would use that scenario to create a novel: "Third Universe".

This is a little early but... I think could be some very interesting debates... And I'll kick that off by nominating a very WEIRD candidate who, I think, without, our season tanks (both S***-out-of-Luck AND Same-Old-Lions - SOL's): Graham Glasgow. Without signing him, I think our dream season this year gets flushed down the toilet.

And yet, it was STILL smart to draft Hendon Hooker. -

Also: I suspect part of this is personality. Some people are ALWAYS critical or negative. Some are ALWAYS "sunny side up", and most people are somewhere in the middle. For me... ONLY negative personalities are hard to take. -
PS: Scientists have created anti-matter particles FYI, for an instant, out of thin air or, "nothing". Just for an instant until they contact a particle of matter and then evaporate... but it's been done. I'd have to go search for that test/ study... this is just off the top of my head...

SciFi version: Matter and Anti-Matter "universes" held at a pinpoint, separated but completely in balance (like as inside of a "snowball", but separated into left and right "hemispheres" and unable to "touch" the other (in which matter and anti-matter would completely destroy each other, if they "touched" each other... leading to... nothing) by a positive-positive magnetic wall (two positives reject each other in magnetism, therefore creating the "wall"). The APPEARANCE would look like "nothing"; but the entire universe is inside that snowglobe. Hidden by the tiny size of the immense gravity of the compacted universe into that tiny space... and the equal and identical (mirror image) anti-matter universe. One anti-matter proton-neutron-electron particle expires (went past its "expiration date" - haha, just a joke here... but give me some leeway...). The imbalance, anti-matter side now has one less hydrogen particle then the matter side, leads to... The Big Bang. The Matter Universe (which we are in... because, we "matter"... haha) explodes into existence. The Anti-Matter Universe ALSO explodes into existence, but in the anti-matter dimension instead of our "Matter" dimension. So there you go... I just created the Big Bang.

And I've already argued that our "consciousness" is a combination of our memory capacity and our language skills (Broca's area) ARE our consciousness. I may be wrong on that point. But biochemically speaking... I don't believe so. I think you are still looking for that "interface" but there is no interface needed between Broca's area and motor skill areas. It's simply one biochemical reaction (Broca's area or our "thought" area) in our neural networks, which we have some control over, to another neural network controlling motor skills. Yes, last comment: Just in case you weren't considering this: You are trying to add an inefficiency into our brains looking for some interface. It's an extra step. And in evolution (at least prior to us, for the most part, conquering lethal threats), an inefficient or "slowdown" step would be fatal, and lead to an ending of that genetic lineage. IE: My thinking neural networks speak directly to my motor skill networks so I am up the tree first... Your thinking neural networks are still searching for that "Interface" and therefore... That Lion just ate your ass. My genetic lineage continues. Yours does not. "Food for thought".

They are brain activity experts. G2 is a chemical engineer, if I have that correct. G2 is chasing a ghost, that does not exist, by trying to force chemical engineering into human biochemistry and neural evolution. He is not correct. There are a lot more brain activity experts that agree, not just psychologists. You need to check on your smell test there... Sorry.

I disagree with your premise. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/living-forward/202304/how-your-thinking-affects-your-brain-chemistry#:~:text=Your thoughts can also influence, responding to a perceived threat. KEY POINTS Your thoughts are transmitted via neurotransmitters and other neurochemicals. You can proactively release various feel-good neurotransmitters in your brain based on what you think about. Your brain chemistry changes physical structures in your brain and body. A direct refutation of your premise.

No... But he IS A.J. Hinch...

Yes, I've already answered this. At least twice. But yes... lets see if we can get on the same wavelength. I know what wavelength I am on and I think I can "see" what wavelength you are on... But I'd like to move to a "no doubt" understanding of this... I'm going to call it the Brain Operational Theory. What are you looking for? I got your description above. You previously called it the "Interface between Mind and Brain". Your description is the actual biochemical reaction that signifies a decision has been made which will then direct your biomechanics to follow the directives of your decision. Do I have this correct? So, again, what are you looking for? Do you believe there is a section of the brain where these chemical reactions should be located? And no one has been able to find them, as you've described above? I would call this G2's Brain Operational Theory. I know my Brain Operational Theory is different and I will see if I can get us reconciled. I can give a clue: Neurons firing ARE chemical reactions. I know that you know this... If you know biochemistry then you know this to be true... so my next question is: Why are you not considering the Neural Patterns THEMSELVES as the chemical process that changes the physical state of stasis?

The: "Can we not do this anymore?" 2024 MLB Draft
1984Echoes replied to 1984Echoes's topic in Detroit Tigers
The actual theme of this year's draft thread. But to reiterate: "Can we not do this anymore"? (worry about which top 5 draft spot we'll be getting after another crappy season...) -
Perfect.

It's late and I'm tired so I'm going to sleep on that thought for at least tonight... But I think I get what you are asking and am formulating a response in my head... But I'm going to finish that thought tomorrow...

That wasn't a backflip... It was an Aerial Launch. I was worried only about how hard it would be coming back down to Earth after hitting apogee. He wasn't landing in the Atlantic, it was a ground landing. I did worry about that potential landing... -

So I think a secondary, but very important need this offseason, after the "D", is to address O-Line depth. Jonah Jackson needs to be signed, IMO. I like Glasgow, anywhere... But there's no depth if one of our interior guys goes down. Sorsdal is obviously not an answer, at least not yet... And Ragnow is having more difficulties with his toe and his overall health so... IMO: I think it is critical to sign Jackson to a long term contract, and find an answer for depth at C/OG to go behind Ragnow/ Glasgow/ Jackson. Also, related: Do we search for a longer term option for "after-Decker", or not yet? -
PS: G2... this is a PERFECT example of volition... IE: WHAT programming exists that tells us to stand up and start exercising? There is NO external stimulus that tells us, programmatically: "I MUST exercise". Or to NOT exercise... even if we are "thinking" maybe we should? That is PURE volition.
-
Do you have a "soul"? Do you have a "mind" or a "self"? If you have a "mind", SEPARATE from your brain... how does your "mind" tell your brain and body to do things? Like stand up, and start exercising, for example? This is what G2 is struggling to understand; why he is searching for an interface between "mind" and brain... which does not exist. If your "soul" is separate from your body, then how are you going to get it to ascend to "Valhalla", to join your Favorite God/ Creator... (Odin, of course)? These are the questions (not on "soul", but on "mind", which the two are somewhat related...) that G2 is asking. And like a good atheist, I know that there is no floating entity, separate from our bodies, called "soul" or "mind" or "self". It is all biochemical processes. G2 is having difficulty understanding how we can be a gag of bones, errr, biochemical processes, and not just function like a programmed machine. I'm trying to explain it to him... But I don't think he sees it yet...
