OR... Harris goes shopping in the "less-than-the-cost-of-a-draft-pick" bin...
-
I agree. IMO... there is NO deadline trade of Skubal. Either we get a godfather offer soon, and Harris pulls the trigger on a deal he likes... Or we get an entire season of Skubal and simply take the 2027 comp pick. Could have some great fun this summer, with Skubal... Not a bad place to be either way.

Whatever "potential" that he showed in the 1st half of last year, in which a team may have been very interested in taking a flyer on him... is quickly evaporating into nothingness...

I don't think we get that offer (where once I thought we might...). But if Dombrowski really did offer us Painter and one of either Miller or Crawford, I say yes. They'll add a third guy... but if it's 2 of their top 3, the third guy can certainly be a lottery ticket. Just reach into their lower ranks and get a Mavis Graves and see what happens...

Which ones cost a draft pick? And which ones do NOT. Because... I'm just guessing here... that that is a very high consideration for Harris. And on that basis... he may very well go after Gallen instead of Valdez... just as an example. IMO... I think that should be something we consider, even in our conjecturing...

If it's a 2026 1st I don't think it needs any protections (just guessing... but I don't believe 2026 will end up as a top-10 pick...) For a future 1st... yes, I would want top-10 protection... Also, I agree not the closest-to-Detroit prospects, ruling out Nate & Buium. But we have different levels of "interesting" prospects lower down with Genborg, Plante, Buch, Bear, Johansson, etc., etc. PS: I guess add in Postava, Gylinder, Tuomisto as possibilities... just to see if they bite. Most likely not, but...

But they give it right back...

Aljo can play his offhand so Seider-Edvinsson 26 minutes, Chiarot 22 min's, and Aljo 19 minutes. But also... JBD is getting those extra minutes from ASP. No offense (3 assists in 33 games)... But he does seem to be defensively responsible (+8).

Yes. And agree with this. It was probably true right from the start. Which was why I was pro-trade from the get-go. But... We would all want a godfather offer IF he is traded... no subpar package please. Except... we don't know if those offers are actually out there (as several have pointed out ... Tenacious D?) and that's the fly in the ointment. If the offers aren't good enough, the fallback is to just keep him for the season and take the comp pick. However, if we DO receive an offer Harris can't refuse...

OK... Since I'm not seeing much answer in here to my question... I am just going to Adopt-a-Tiger and report on his progress this season... Feel FREE to join in whoever has an interest in doing so...! Could be a very interesting season this year, as more of Harris's guys percolate up to Detroit, or at least AAA, several pitchers coming back from injury, Rainer returning from injury... But I'm going to go with an unknown minor leaguer that we just signed (I love those long shots...): Inohan Paniagua. 26 years old, out of the Dominican Republic, 6' 1", 150 #'s... Has never pitched above High-A.

HAH!!! REASONS!!!
-
It does... Because I would venture that his 2025 would have been even more outstanding had Glasgow/Colon not been injured. It was at that point that the offense really started to struggle. And he did take more sacks/ hits this year... And yes, his stats were nice... great even... I still think he does even better than that with a healthy O-Line. IMO.

Now try Shane Bieber and/or Zack Littell...

As long as it's not up the middle and collapsing his pocket...

Trump has wanted Tiananmen Square for America since 1989. He flat out stated "I hate American Democracy. We should be more like China. THIS is the way to govern. Strong leadership in China! We need this in America!" I'm paraphrasing from memory, I probably don't have the words exactly correct. He declared himself a violent fascist in 1989. But... who cares? Nothing matters with this fascist ****-scum. Naziholic licks his boots no matter WHAT he does to our democracy. Sickening.

"Dad, you WATCHED the coup attempt against Congress and spoke out about it... LOUDLY. And then you just voted for him again anyways... WTF? WHY?" Silence.

Are we doing Adopt-a-Tiger this year? I'm ready to/ want to adopt a dark horse candidate...

10/14/26 7:00PM Suns (24-16) @ Pistons (28-10)
1984Echoes replied to Tigeraholic1's topic in Detroit Pistons
I believe this should be the 15th (tomorrow night) not the 14th (tonight)... -
Plus one. As for the second part, I would focus on developing/ obtaining a proper second ball-handler/ distributor to "assist" Cade in that department. I don't believe we necessarily need a forward that fills those duties, although it would be nice... But as you say, then he's a top 10 player and he wouldn't be available to us. So I'd rather split that into two guys... MPJ and a 6th-man PG for example...

This.

He obtained a bunch of ****ty players who were LOSERS, except for Finnegan so... YES. He traded away a bunch of veterans and brought up a bunch off AAA'ers after the trade deadline to muddle through the rest of the 2024 season so... YES.

And looking like a top-8 type player... Which, since Holmes is a little low on draft picks this year... Seems like he would be out of reach. That's why I'm looking at other guys... and feeling more 2nd round Edge if we can't land Faulk... So I'm going to WAG that we go O-Line in the 1st, pass-rusher in the 2nd. Just a guess...
-
I'm stealing this from the other thread...: I believe Faulk actually has some pass-rush juice. Sort of a Davenport-Lite. he would definitely set the edge in the run game... as well as in a pass rush (setting an outside edge) and may be able to get to the QB 8-ish or so a season. In fact, I would go as far to say that he is the one perfect fit for the Lions (pending the character fit scouting which, to the Lions is as important as talent on the field). But I would also say it looks like he is a top 10, or even 8 prospect this year. It would be very, very difficult for the Lions to trade up to get into the right draft spot for him. IMO. Other DE's that are somewhat similar to look at: Reuben Bain, Jr. (another top-10-ish guy), T.J. Parker (could actually fall to our draft spot...) But at that point (if we are shut out of Bain and Faulk...); I think Offensive Tackle needs jump up to a much higher need than Edge. I'm certain Homes can find similar players to Parker in the 2nd round, in fact, here are a couple: Dani Dennis-Sutton. Zion Young. I think either of these guys would also be the perfect "Lions" fit, or player... Dunno if Holmes will end up agreeing but just wanted to point out some options...
-
PS: I still think the Tigers should target Kyle Tucker. Fits the "control the strike zone" mold. Better fielding corner OF'er than we have on our roster. Perfect veteran to match up when Clark eventually comes up... Has some power to reach the RF seats (don't need 40-50 HR power IMO, I'll take the .380 OBP and the .960 OPS...). And one of Greene (less likely) or Carpenter (most likely) can be traded for additional pitching. He (KC) of the .290 OBP last year, and .790 OPS and barely average fielding...). Just my 2 cents.

OUCH!!!
