  1. I don't think it's a 1-for-1 with Flaherty even if you've listed a headliner prospect. IMO, I think at a bare minimum it's 2-1 or 3-1. As for Rushing, I think scouting reports are he's not a great catcher, so short-side or backup catcher, plus a lot of 1B risk... but IMO, still a useful guy. But he's taking short games at catcher (20-30 per year) with a dominant catcher (let's call him Dingler) and then you're plugging him in at sometimes 1B, DH, PH'er... So he's limited IMO, but still very useful in spots, especially with the bat. IOW: It's the bat that's being traded for, not him as a starting catcher. That says: Who else is included? Per my 3-1 trade... I would jump at a Rushing + Freeland + Jackson Ferris package (RatkoVarda proposal...).
  2. Well, just for completeness: How does Bowden's trade work out? If possible, try it his way and then also mine: Bowden: Mayo, Kjerstad, Povich. 84: Mayo, Kjerstad, Povich, Cam Weston.
  3. PS: (or FYI, whichever floats...): I'm heading out this afternoon for a family reunion near Munising (cabins right on the beach of Lake Superior) and that means 20+ cousins (and assorted aunts/ uncles and a plethora of munchkins running around as well) which will keep me busy and hard to keep up with both what's going on at/ near the deadline and all this discussion. Won't be back until Sunday August 4th so I'll miss MOST of the commotion! Oh, and tomorrow before I take off for Munising (I'll be halfway there in Ohio, from Jersey...) I'm going to the National Baseball Card (actually, "Sports") Convention in Cleveland. Gonna be a WILD ONE!!! And I know you will miss me SOOO MUCH!!! 😁 So have a great time... I know I will!
  4. Jim Bowden (sorry if this is already posted...): https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5657415/2024/07/25/mlb-deadline-trade-proposals/ 2. Tigers trade LHP Tarik Skubal to Orioles for OF Heston Kjerstad, 3B Coby Mayo and LHP Cade Povich The Tigers would start the conversation by asking for second baseman Jackson Holliday or catcher Samuel Basallo and the Orioles would immediately reject either one being included in the deal. However, to part with an ace like Skubal, who has two additional years of control, the Tigers would need to get two everyday position players and a starting pitcher they could put right into their rotation. Mayo and Kjerstad would fit nicely behind Riley Greene in the Tigers’ lineup for years to come and Povich should develop into a solid mid-rotation starter. It’s a high price to pay for the Orioles but would give them a postseason rotation of Corbin Burnes, Skubal and Grayson Rodriguez, along with some protection if Burnes doesn’t re-sign in the offseason. PS: I'm good with this trade.
  5. Immediately after the trade deadline. Yes it is.
  6. PS: This too: "timeline for Mize and Olson to return."
  7. The plan would be to: A) Trade for a cheap backender at the deadline. There are SP's available at the deadline who are a crapload cheaper then what we'd get for trading Flaherty. B) Stretching out Faedo or Brieske is not a criminal act. It's a valid option. C) Jobe is looking ready for MLB. It's up to Development and whoever else is required for that decision but if they say yes, he's an option. D) As crappy as Hurter and some of the other Toledo contingent are doing, they are still options. E) This season doesn't matter. It's STILL an evaluation season, and the more critical goal, IMO, is setting up for next year. That means additional rookies called up to evaluate (Jung, Dingler, possibly Jobe and/ or maybe even Lee). That also means trading pending Free Agents. Including Flaherty. And there are ways to cover for traded SP's... even as dire a situation as we currently have.
  8. Holy CRAP is Dingler just Freaking Going OFF!!! Another HR tonight. single-double-HR = 3 for 4... .306 BA, .924 OPS...
  9. I don't remember all the names... I just remember that I had the #'s (draft round) 11 and 13 stuck in my head as who I wanted signed more than others... (Stop being lazy 84 and go back and look... or pull it up online...)
  10. That's because Trump is a brainless ****. He's been a moron for 40+ years, why stop now?
  11. Trade deadline will have the opposite effect. Sorry everyone...
  12. Flaherty = +1 for trade value...
  13. I thought I was asking too much for Flaherty with Rushing & Freeland but I like this MUCH better!!! 😁
  14. If it's Freeland and Rushing... I'd prefer that from LAD over the Orioles package. Maybe that's pushing it too much. But I'm shooting high, man. What I don't like about Norby is that he's just another 2B'man, to add to Keith, Jung, Lee... To me it's SS or 3B that does it for me. So from Baltimore: Mayo and Povich (yes, I'm still asking for the moon... even for Flaherty).
  15. Exactly my point. Snap Primary? No such thing... give me a break. BLM whining to try and get more pull at the DNC with this flop of an idea. Sorry, but not going to happen. Oh... and the delegates, and pretty much everyone, have already coalesced behind Kamala. That's all she wrote.
  16. One further note on Flaherty: If he dominates Cleveland... knocks them down flat... The trade offers are going to spike way, way up. In quantity and quality. Playoff teams love someone who can dominate other high level playoff teams. This would go highly on his resume. Just sayin'...
  17. Thank you very much. May I have another.
  18. Ah, gotcha. Yes, on this, of course. Agree 100%. Quality side = Skubal won't be traded unless Harris is happy with the top guys. Whether that's Holliday, or Basallo & Mayo, or whomever fits within the "must have quality" part of the deal... It will need to be that high a level of quality or Harris just says no. On the quantity side, it will need to be both quality and quantity. Basallo, Mayo, Kjerstad, Povitch, AND Cam Weston just might be too much of an ask for Skubal... But I don't believe that's too far off. And even if Holliday isn't in there (Baltimore most likely will flat out refuse to trade their #1 guy... and the #1 in baseball (according to some)); would you (meaning anyone in here) pass up that trade package for Skubal? Which has both quality AND quantity (I think BOTH will be an absolute requirement).
  19. 12 starts at 5 innings each gets him to 100+. Between August & September, and the AFL, and barring any injuries, that would appear to me to be easily attainable.
  20. I would rather not do any early rationing, unless they're skipping an opportunistic early season start (rainouts and such...). And I'm pretty certain he will easily force his way onto the Opening Day roster. But I'm just guessin'...
  21. This I think... Everyone would be 100% in agreement with. Everything else, IMO, is simply managing around this fact. And the Org will do whatever it needs to do, to manage around it.
  22. The U.S. has a not insignificant Indian diaspora. At least 3 mill+ if not more. Heavy concentration here in Jersey and New York, I would guess California as well... Lots of business relationships, call centers, software, pharmaceuticals, etc...
  23. The DELEGATES elect their candidate, NOT the primary voters. Here is one Democratic Party example, there are LOTS of others: What was the outcome of the Democratic convention in 1912? Democratic nominee House Majority Leader Oscar Underwood had strong support from the Deep South but little appeal outside the region. At the convention, Wilson eventually secured the nomination over Clark after forty back-and-forth ballots.
