  1. Why can't there be team options for the last few years of a 10 year contract? Or games played requirements. 130 games played = automatic renewal of years 8-9-10 (games played per each previous year that is...), less than 130 = team has the option to renew or buy out the last years at a 90% discount. Let's say $35 mill/ year the last 3 = $10.5mm to buy out the last 3 years if the player is constantly injured. Player gets something, team gets out of an albatross.
  2. Repeat after me: Saaaaaben Lee.
  3. Look in the mirror. Forever? Really?
  4. I think I won a day too, but I don't remember the date. Coulda been a day in 2014 or 15 or...? I saw it once on my Motownsports profile but can't remember that date... I think everyone must have been at the beach that day.
  5. I think he was getting arbitration expensive and ready for a multi-year extension so, yeah, salary. Scherzer & Verlander were coming up (lost out on Scherzer), as well as Miggy. And they ended up trading Porcello also, the next year I think, to afford their stars & scrubs model when they were already pushing the luxury tax so... yeah, salary. In order to spend money on the BP and save money for extending JV & Miggy and (potentially) Scherzer... Yeah, they were pro-active in trading Fister. As someone else noted, he may have already been losing his FB a bit, so there's that too. But salary considerations were definitely a part of it.
  6. No. Oswald Peraza.
  7. They really liked Robbie Ray. As a prospect I did too... They got the prospect that they wanted and pulled the trigger so... Yeah, I remember those reports coming out. I decided to go with the team's (DD's) viewpoint about getting the guy they wanted...
  8. If we lose out on the big 6 FA SS's and the Yanks get one of them... they have a SS at AAA that looks pretty good that we should chase after.
  9. I forget if that was a salary/ tax threshold issue (IIRC it was)... On that basis, I wasn't against the Fister trade for Ray at all... But he was raw as hell with little command/ control and DD subsequently dumped him for Greene. I liked Greene, for what he was, but hated trading Ray for him as I wanted to see Ray become our next dominant pitcher. It took him 6 years (he did have a pretty good year in 2017) but... he really broke out this year... Good for him.
  10. We're not getting Torres. They're moving him to 2B. They luv him (but not at SS), ain't trading him.
  11. A chance for the rest of the team to step up...
  12. That's what I was thinking...
  13. Got it. You adopt Hill, I'll adopt Wentz... And we'll see what happens! 😉
  14. That's why I like his chances to win the 5th starter spot out of ST... His prospects, IMO, are much, much higher than Garrett Hill's... But that's just me...
  15. Which he's not even doing. He's calling you out for being juvenile. BTW: How old are you?
  16. Detroit Red Wings, 8-8-2, 3-6-0 AWAY ESPN+ 11/18 10:00 PM Vegas Golden Knights, 9-7-0, 5-4-0 HOME
  17. Aren't superstars goin to be pissed about that change? Break into MLB at 20 or 21 or 22 and have to wait until getting past 28.5? And someone breaking into MLB at 25 or 26 gets to be a FA after 3 years, not 6? I don't think that will fly. From the players POV.
  18. Hinch & the Tigers will challenge him... In MLB. I don't want to guarantee he breaks ST with the Tigers... But I don't think he goes to AAA, I think he starts on the 25.
  19. I was just going to say that it looks like they're generating no pressure on their goalie and putting it all on Ned's shoulders... (Not watching the game...) So when are they going to be able to stop other teams' from generating that pressure... and instead put it on the other team? ... on a consistent basis.
  20. So in other words... you're only looking at the 0-fers and being totally swayed by that. He still had a 1.015 OPS his last 116 (typo) PA's. That's called finishing the season strong at AAA. You don't get to discount that. Even despite a few 0-fers (which EVERY hitter incurs...).
  21. Did you mean his 1.015 OPS his last 116 PA's?
  22. Or maybe it's already a done deal and they have to settle for sloppy seconds?
  23. FTFY: September & October (116 PA's) beg to differ.
