Maybe... how do we compare to Germany, Norway, Britain, and other elite democracies around the world? Is there data that supports your statement? Because I don't believe for one second that Germany has an inferior medical system to ours... Which is entirely why we rank last in the civilized/ first world/ democratic world... (I'm not talking ranking against developing countries...). Based completely on affordability and availability. We still have the highest population of uninsured amongst first world countries.

I think he can go through the same non-tender process so the team is not FORCED to give arbitration. Doesn't matter minor or MLB contract, he gets paid only per the contract and is not eligible for arbitration because of the contract.

Why can't there be team options for the last few years of a 10 year contract? Or games played requirements. 130 games played = automatic renewal of years 8-9-10 (games played per each previous year that is...), less than 130 = team has the option to renew or buy out the last years at a 90% discount. Let's say $35 mill/ year the last 3 = $10.5mm to buy out the last 3 years if the player is constantly injured. Player gets something, team gets out of an albatross.
