  1. Yes, I know all this. That's why I said if he's trying to build the team from a less-than-zero standpoint... then he's not able to do this. As you've mentioned, he's had to go out and sign a boatload of FA's just to fill holes. And why I also said: "But now that the team is built up pretty nicely..." I'm hoping he doesn't have to annually sign a crapload of players to fill holes. I guess what that means, ultimately for the team, is that Holmes is successful in drafting, and DC & his coaches "coaching up", enough depth on this team to where Holmes can let 3-5 FA's walk and only have to go out into the market to sign 1 or 2... Meeting your (the NFL's) formula to obtain additional comp picks... Further allowing Holmes & DC to draft and develop depth, future later round starters that require a lot of coaching up, etc... with those extra picks. I don't think we are saying, or want from the Lions, anything different from each other.
  2. A low-A reliever with high spin rates would be the return for Wentz... would be my guess.
  3. Snell signed for 2 years $62 mill. **** no! No thank you very much. Chapman signed for 3 years $54 mill. Nope! No thank you very much. Cody Bellinger signed for 3 years $80 mill. **** no! No thank you very much. Montgomery wants 7 years $172 mill. **** no! No thank you very much.
  4. Right. OLIGARCHY RULES!!! GIMME KLEPTOCRACY OVER DEMOCRACY ANY DAY!!! (Says Putin, Trump, and now Elon Musk...)
  5. The insults against Democracy and the Constitution of the United States never cease with TFG. And in this instance, Speaker Johnson is an ENABLER.
  6. Workman looks like the next Kreidler... And Santana is a baby, not a bust. Which doesn't change the rest of your narrative... We've got nothing in the system high enough/ close enough/ or performing well enough to indicate we have another option aside from Javy Baez. At least in the near term...
  7. I would like the Lions to be in the business of letting aging FA's walk and gaining extra draft picks on an annual basis. Too hard to do when we were at ground less-than-zero... But now that the team is built up pretty nicely... all Holmes has to do is make the annual shelf life/ value/ cost assessment decisions... He did that with CJGJ and Jonah, in particular, this year (Tracy Walker too but he hasn't signed with anyone yet...).
  8. Or at least a better value at an appropriate cost...
  9. At 36, age has definitely caught up with him. I get Yzerman's desire to add enough experience to help lead this team into the playoffs... But for this team to grow, we need some kids to start taking over. And on the right-side... that's Tuomisto. I don't know where he is in NHL-readiness... But it looks like the is being defensively responsible in GR (28 points in 76 GR games, +14...), is a big 6'5" defensive dude... At the very least... I'm hoping he can take a spot away from Petry and/or Holl in the 2024-25 season. The sooner the better...
  10. Oh crap! You already beat me to the same thing! (Sorry... just catching up with everything so...)
  11. Chas is being pure disingenuous. Pure hypocrisy since he's lashing out at all of us "history revisionists..." Here is he ranking of every Org for the past 10 years, by Baseball America: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/mlb-farm-system-rankings-for-every-team-in-the-21st-century/ To whit: Detroit 2015: 30th Detroit 2016: 26th Detroit 2017: 25th Detroit 2018: 21st Detroit 2019: 14th Detroit 2020: 11th Detroit 2021: 3rd (Greene & Torkelson) Detroit 2022: 6th (Greene & Torkelson start to graduate) Detroit 2023: 27th (no more Greene & Torkelson as prospects; Jobe & Keith haven't broken out yet; Clark not yet drafted) Detroit 2024: 5th
  12. He's Butt-Hurt because there is NOT prosecutable criminality and therefore he is trying to lay "trumped up" charges against Biden, which DO NOT actually exist... in order to make himself feel better? Trying to get some Dem/Liberal/Indie on here to sign onto Butt-Hurt Trumped Up False Charges? "Why won't you guys AGREE that this was a CRIME!?!?!?" That's what it looks like to me at least...
  13. No. The problem is you keep looking at a molehill and telling us "THIS IS THE EXACT SAME THING AS THE MOUNTAIN THAT TRUMP DID. AND YOU REFUSE TO CRITICIZE {insert Dem or Liberal name here: } LIKE I AM OVER THIS... THIS... MOUNTAIN (but... it's really just a molehill) !!!" "WHY WON"T YOU CRITICIZE {insert Dem or Liberal name here: } FOR THIS MOUNTAIN?!?!?!" And we keep telling you: "But it's just a molehill. It's not the same thing." But you INSIST that... your molehill-du-jour "REALLY IS A MOUNTAIN!!!" No. It's not.
  14. The stock is overvalued based solely on Trump hype. It's been known he's a part of this deal since they first attached to Trump's "Truth" Social, and that was over a year ago, or more, I believe. "Truth" Social had revenues of roughly $4 mill or so last year, and losses of over $100 mill+ (I didn't look at any actual financials so I could be checked on that...). With no avenue for profit because of the toxicity of Trump's "Truth". Membership is declining faster than Twitter, errr, X. It should be a penny stock. Before Trump has a chance to actually sell any shares... I predict it will be. And Trump's "3 billion valuation" will quickly turn into $20 million or so... or worse. All dependent on whether the stock is treated at an actual valuation, or a "meme" stock. If it's above $1... Then I think it's just MAGA or MAGA-inspired playing around with the stock as a "meme" because it's attached to TFG. There's no real value in the stock... at all. Short-sellers are going to have a field day.
  15. MAJOR PILFERAGE!!! MAJOR SURPRISE!!! (no... not really...)
  16. Deep into the sty...
  17. I also agree on the size thing... I don't really want to make a judgement on Augustine until he at least gets a full season in GR... I wouldn't be comfortable drawing any kind of conclusions what he may or not turn into until he's close enough (GR) to the NHL to get that comfort level. Until then... I just go with what the scouts say... with a "we'll just see" attitude and awaiting enough time/ nearness to NHL before drawing conclusions. I like his upside/ attitude however. Especially the "steady as a rock" reports... To me that means he's good for the locker room whether he hits his "floor" (backup/ tandem) or is able to push well beyond that. At this point, to me, it's: "Cossa looks like a potential #1" and "Damn! Augustine looks really good... but we'll see where that gets him in a couple years...".
  18. If they could catch me. I would become a American Freedom Fighter guerilla with assassination of fascist American politicians my specialty skill.
  19. The hockeywriters believe Augustine is the Wings 11th best prospect and a "high-floor" goalie without defining that... Although usually "high-floor" means "high-floor/low-ceiling" but again, they didn't define what they actually meant by that.
  20. This is Scott Wheeler from the Athletic, I think last updated Feb 29th: (paywall) https://theathletic.com/5297198/2024/02/29/red-wings-nhl-prospect-pool-rankings-2024/ This one might now be what I was reading earlier about thinking he's only a backup... I'll be back with that too as soon as I find that... but this has some of the same concerns at least delineated: Paraphrased: 6. Trey Augustine, G, 18 (Michigan State University) (ME: The Good): The definition of calm, cool, and collected, Augustine is the best goalie prospect to come through the national program since Spencer Knight ... He’s just dialed in, by all accounts just as much off the ice in the way he carries himself and goes about his business as on the ice, where his game has rare detail and intellect for a netminder his age. He’s got a good glove hand... He’s just a good goalie. (ME: Not quite as good): ...while he’s not big for a goalie (listed 6-foot-1 and 179 pounds), he’s a goalie I have a ton of confidence in projecting to have a good pro career. He doesn’t have obvious starter talent or size, but I could see him getting there (or at the very least becoming a solid, reliable tandem goalie). I’d trust him to play for my team and remain even-keeled any day. So it looks like Scott Wheeler has him above that... but he certainly is not saying that Augustine is a can't miss future #1, he's not even certain he can get to #1 level... Not saying Cossa is can't miss... but he is projected at least with a higher athletic level and upside.
  21. But that's not corrupt at all, is it? Ewsieg, can you give us a judgement call on that?
  22. Trump's getting bright idea "GULAG" ideas directly from Putin... isn't he? Well, see you soon in either the Trump's Death Valley American Gulag for Liberals or the Barrow Alaska Northern Point Gulag or the Alabamy "We HATES LIBRULS" Gulag for LIBRULS in HUNTSville ALABAMY (fer 'Muricans!!!). Can we choose our own prison? I choose Barrow Alaska.
  23. Agree. Cossa has the MUCH higher upside and looks like he could be our #1 as early as 2024-25. Maybe even before this season is out if they'd only let him play in Detroit. Lyon is looking less than stellar recently. Augustine's scouting profile reads "might possibly be a #2 goalie in the NHL." I think people are getting confused...
  24. Omigosh...!!! Don't they call that... "Punitive Damages"? And isn't that... Actually... "LEGAL" (not illegal) to do?!?!?!
