Between that and kickers' longer ranges these days, you really only need about 20-25 yards to get into the fringe of FG range of some kickers. I think 27 seconds with 3 KC timeouts is right on the border of where I’d go for it. Hence the tv crew’s criticism of Tampa’s decision to call a quick timeout when they got a 1st down at the one. One advantage of being tied is that the offense will be more conservative than if they were trailing by one. For example, if they were down by 1 KC would have gone for it on 4th and 1 and likely made it instead of punting it away with 15 seconds to go. That’s less of a risk if you kick off when up 1 with only 20 seconds to go and only 1 timeout.
