So six events - three CWS:Det and three Bal:Min - would need to go against the Tigers for the Tigers to miss the playoffs now. By my calc, even if the outcome of each of those events was a 50/50 chance, I think there'd be only a 1 in 64 chance of the Tigers missing. And a CWS @ Det event is better than a 50/50 coin flip for the Tigers.

We saw some really bad baseball in extra innings tonight. Marlins almost blew the 1st and 3rd outs of the 13th.

Must be depressing to be a Twins fan sitting in the stands approaching 11pm local time, having invested 13 innings into it, seeing the Twins fall 3 runs down with season on life support.

Can't even get Norby out, who was 0 for 6 with 5 strikeouts. Bases loaded, 2 out, Marlins have a chance to get likely-needed insurance when this relief pitcher comes in.

Rain is making a mess of the NL wildcard. Mets-Braves had two games rained out this week and are scheduled to play Monday if playoff spots still at stake, which is likely. With Arizona in mix as well.

Oo, good to know. It won’t actually happen, but it means a Baltimore win tonight would have them still going hard tomorrow against Minnesota. Tonight could a fun game to watch regardless. Burnes vs Cole.
