  1. A big bust, but not even as big of a bust as the guy picked right after him in the draft, Trey Lance.
  2. Rich Eisen pointed out that if the Eagles and Lions end up tied for the #1 seed, the first tiebreaker is not conference record but rather record against common opponents: KC, Seattle, Tampa, Dallas and Minnesota. The Lions and Eagles have both beaten Tampa already, so that's a wash. The Lions have defeated KC and lost to Seattle, the Eagles' will play KC and Seattle on December 17. The Eagles already have a win against Minnesota and a win against Dallas. So by count, the Lions are 2-1 with 3 games left (2x Minnesota, Dallas) while the Eagles are 3-0 with with 3 games left (KC, Seattle, Dallas). Lions-Niners common opponents in 2023 are Dallas, Minnesota, Tampa, Seattle and Baltimore. EDIT: Eisen might be wrong. From NFL.com. The Eagles conference record is 6-0 and still will be after tonight's game, while the Lions and SF are both at 5-1. Two Clubs Head-to-head, if applicable. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four. Strength of victory. Strength of schedule. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  3. Is it too much to ask for the Lions to not only win on Thursday but win decisively? Can’t complain about the record of course, but I don’t feel as good about the Lions’ strength as I did a month ago. The past four games have been a blowout loss to Baltimore (F), an easy but mistake-filled win over the Raiders (C+), a nail biter at the Chargers when our defense got trashed (B-) and a horrific 56 minutes at home to the lowly Bears (D+). I’m greedy and want to see the Lions dominate on both offense and defense against the Packers and win by 20.
  4. Christmas Eve. We were visiting the in-laws in Taipei so I ducked out in the middle of the night local time and listened to it at an all-night Internet cafe surrounded by gamers in their pods.
  5. I’d really like the Lions to have it wrapped up prior to the final 3 games. I could see them losing @Minnesota and @Dallas so that it comes down to the final game at home to Minnesota. Too many lingering memories of the horror of the final game of 1981 to want it to come to that. Young ones can go to the 2:11:45 of this clip, if you dare, to see the play when a generation of then-teens like me became truly Lionized.
  6. 3 pm ET today I expected the division lead to be down to 1/2 a game by the end of the night.
  7. What a great day! 2 1/2 game division lead Dobbs did nothing in the 4th quarter
  8. Ok, a TD will do. But better get the 2 pt conversion.
  9. Run it on 1st down here.
  10. I didn’t realize Dobbs was on the Lions’ practice squad for two weeks last season, before the Titans claimed him and started him.
  11. Of the Vikings’ 10 games going into tonight, only one has been decided by more than 8 points.
  12. That pass when in the air sure looked like it was going to be the go ahead TD.
  13. Random CFL comment/thought
  14. Seahawks won on a last second FG last week, lost on a missed last second FG attempt vs the Rams today.
  15. I don’t remember this Lions-Packers play https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/12/28/7458613/lions-successfully-execute-onside-punt-vs-packers
  16. Still not sure how the Michigan lineman was able to get in there and strip sack the Ohio State QB at such a big moment. Must have done have some sign-stealing.
  17. So what is the rule on kicks after a safety. I know you can onside it, but probably only if you do it kickoff style? On a punt kick, like the Bears opted for, if anyone is allowed to grab it (maybe they can't) why did the Bears seem to give the Lions space to field it? If it's like a regular punt where the kicking team doesn't get possession if they grab it, why did the Lions even field it instead of backing off and letting it bounce dead? Could have been a big play, as if the Bears somehow had recovered it they would have had it at their own 40 with 20 seconds to go and 2 timeouts, time at least to set up a Hail Mary attempt.
  18. True, but on the other hand, right before the first TD he almost threw an INT (quite possibly would have been a pick-6) from the Chicago 2, then there was another near-interception on a throw up the middle at some point in the 4th quarter. EDIT: only read your first sentence before I posted, lol, didn't see "his worth throw" part of your post.
  19. Ha, show me this headline without watching the game and I'd be scratching my head how that could happen.
  20. I'm going to go get some stuff done and then come back in later for Broncos-Vikings, which will be like playing with house money.
  21. Here are the Jamo TD to make it close, the Montgomery go-ahead score and then the sack/safety. Jamo TD Gets It Close.m4a Montgomery’s Go-Ahead TD.m4a Sack Safety Clinches Win.m4a
  22. So the Wolverines and Lions both won this weekend. As we all expected. Ho hum.
  23. I think you should have run it there. Maybe here on 3rd down here.
