  1. Plus the Regulation Wins tiebreaker works against the Wings. 28 for Philly and Washington, 25 for the Wings. And 7 of the Wings' 11 remaining games are on the road.
  2. Goodbye Tampa. Goodbye Pittsburgh.
  3. I wouldn’t retire #16 Konstantinov or #30 Osgood.
  4. Caps would go 3 up with a regulation win the Wings on Tuesday. Philly already 3 up on the Wings.
  5. Wings did everything but tie it in final 2 minutes in 1-0 loss. If this was 20 games to go, I would say this effort is highly encouraging. But with only 11 games to go, points are king, no moral victories. If only the Wings D-man hadnt overskated the puck trying to carry it out of zone leading to only with just over 5 minutes left.
  6. Heartbreaker goal with 5:13 to go after wild sequence. 1-0 Nashville final even though Wings played one of their better games
  7. Win or lose, this is a much different (better) Wings team than the one that lost 7 straight. 0-0 after 2
  8. Islanders outshooting Winnipeg 27-4. That may be as lopsided of a shots ratio that I can remember. Isles up 5-1. No help there.
  9. Ironic that a 6-6 game takes into the 5th round to see a shootout goal.
  10. This game is all over the place. 5-5 Caps Canes with 8 minutes left in regulation.
  11. Holy, didn’t realize how tough tomorrow was going to be.
  12. When you have bubble teams that have played at or slightly point per game pace, most are going to pick up 8-12 points every 10 games. We barely have more than 10 games left in the season. See the Strk column to the far right So time is really running out for Pitt, Buffalo and even Jersey. I don’t think any of them will reach 90 points, which to me is the bare minimum to even be in the conservation. I think the 8th place team will finish with 93 points, give or take a point or two. - Buffalo at 71 points with 11 games to go would top out at 93 points if they win all 11, but even highly improbable 9-2 would only get them to 89 - Jersey at 72 points could top out at 96 if they won all 12 remaining, but even unlikely 8–3-1 would only get them to 89 - Pitt at 69 points could top out at 97 if they won all 14 remaining, but even a highly improbable 10-4 would only get them to 89 I also think Tampa is all but safe. To me, at this point it is 2 spots for Philly, Detroit, Washington, NYI.
  13. Patty Waaah thought the Islanders deserved to win.
  14. Correction: 1st tiebreaker is regulation wins. That's actually more fair, in my view, but works to the Wings' disadvantage. The Wings have more ROWs than most of the playoff bubble teams but fewer RWs than some.
  15. The Wings’ next win will match last year’s point total of 80.
  16. 6-3 final. HUGE win!
  17. Seemed like it for awhile. I flipped to the Oakland-Kentucky game. Now it’s 5-3.
  18. Who would have predicted a 3pt night for Christian Fischer.
  19. Copp with easy tap in regains the lead. Then Larkin makes it 3-1!
  20. Oh my, horrible softie given up by Reimer. Tie game.
  21. Fischer breaks through in the defensive struggle. 1-0 Wings!
  22. Scoreless after 1. I guess that's something of a win, given some of the dreadful starts the Wings have had during this bad stretch.
  23. Larkin's back! And almost kicks one past Reimer.
  24. This seems like one of the most important nights in the playoff race so far. In addition to the Wings hosting NYI we have: Flyers @ Carolina Winnipeg @ Devils Sabres @ Edmonton - 9pm ET Lightning @ San Jose - 1030pm ET
  25. Larkin to be a gametime decision. Reimer in net. Should be a playoff atmosphere tonight. Wings are wrapping up a 5-game stretch of winnable games: vs Arizona, vs Buffalo, at Pittsburgh, vs CBJ, vs NYI. I wanted 7 out of 10 points. But so far only 4. A win tonight is a must and would mean a 3-2 record over that 5-game stretch. Not great, but maybe stopping the bleeding.
