  1. Max with a dead arm, won’t start a Game 7 if Dodgers are able to extend the series.
  2. That was as huge and exciting strike him out throw him out you’ll ever see. 2-0 Astros bottom of the 7th Garcia delivered a great start. 5 2/3 of no-hit ball until a triple and then he left.
  3. Post- postseason SI cover, October 22, 1984
  4. BTW, I know that it is not Tigers Stadium or Olympic arena. Have to up my game now that the edit tool expires after awhlle.
  5. The Wings are at 2-1-1 after 4 games. All at home. Against the Cup champion and 3 teams that missed the playoffs last season, none of them finishing more than 7 points ahead of the Wings. Outplayed by Vancouver, outplayed Columbus, not sure how they against Calgary but considering the 3-0 final likely not great. So a so-so start with a pretty soft schedule. Definitely entertaining in parts though and I like the roster turnover - I believe only 5 remain from the 2019 opening night roster two years ago? Here are some decent starts by the Wings in the 5 non-playoff years: 2016-17: 6W 2L 12PTS after 8 games 2017-18: 4W 2L 8PTS after 6 games and 10W 8L 2OTL 20PTS after 20 games 2019-20: 3W 1L 6PTS after 4 games
  6. I always said that the Tigers getting 4 ALCS appearances and 2 AL pennants out of 5 playoff spots between 2006-2014 was beating the odds. Especially since in none of those years did the Tigers have the best record in MLB or even AL. The only underachieving part was going 0 for 2 once having made the World Series.
  7. I had stepped away for a bit and was wondering when I came back why the announcers were going on and on about Reggie Jackson. Now I get it.
  8. Wings go down to defeat. 3-0 loss. So a low-key way to mark the 44th anniversary (a day late) of me becoming a Red Wings fan. October 20, 1977. Before then I had been first a Bobby Orr, then a Frank Mahovolich-Guy Lafleur-Ken Dryden Habs fan. I had been a die-hard Tigers fan, on the other hand, for years by then, having attended my first game at Tigers Stadium in 1973. 10 years old. Riding home from first hockey practice of year. Listening to the Wings-Habs game as the 0W 2L Red Wings nursed a late lead over the mighty Cup champ Habs. Somehow, for some reason, I became interested in the Wings hanging on. They didn't, but I was hooked by the 2-2 tie. A few weeks later was the real coming out party, as the by-then 9W 6L Wings beat the Flyers at a packed, raucous, Olympic. Ted Lindsay and Bobby Kromm: "Aggressive hockey is back in town".
  9. Blash told Jeff Rieger on the radio pre-game that the 3rd period hit on Raymond last game turned out to be no big deal.
  10. One of the biggest what-ifs in Detroit sports history. We have a fresh starting pitcher needing 6 outs with a 4-run lead against bats that had been quiet all series, and he gets yanked after one batter, a walk.
  11. Just had a wild thought. Habs are 0-4. Worst start since 1995-1996. We all know what happened next back then. Today, Habs' GM Marc Bergevin job rumored to be in jeapardy. Guess who is rumored to be a possible replacement. Imagine if the Wings go into Montreal on Saturday night, win, and this causes the Montreal ownerhship to make a move and replace Bergevin with ... Patrick Roy. Full circle!!
  12. So specific as to be almost meaningless, but I do like how so many have been chipping in to the scoring fun.
  13. There were people who excused his behaviour for a long, long time.
  14. I don’t disagree. But split against MSU-Penn State, win the other 3 like they should, go into Ohio St game 10-1, lose, and get sent to a 50/50 bowl game. A 10 or 11 win season is at the upper range of what Michigan fans should expect and if Harbaugh does that as often or not the admin will be happy, IMO (of course his next 11 win season at Michigan will be his first 11 win season at Michigan).
  15. Did you hear how the Ole Miss-Tennessee game ended. No, not the golf ball at Lane Kiffin. AFTER that. Tennessee got the ball back, QB got hurt with 18 seconds to go, JOE MILTON comes in, with the ball at the 21 for the final play of the game he runs it and runs out of bounds at the 8 after time expired, lol.
  16. Wings 3 (Zadina 1), Canucks 1 (Q Hughes 0) Hughes and OEL looked good together. Whether or not OEL can regain his form of a couple of years will make or break the summer trade.
  17. Nebraska didnt look great today. But I think Iowa's 17-point thumping by Purdue at home this afternoon will result in Michigan passing both Iowa and Penn St in the polls to move up to #6 in the AP.
