  1. That's a load off his mind for Skubal. Now he knows that as long as can he give the Tigers a good 6 innings, Heuer is here to lock it down the rest of the way.
  2. Yes, April-June was the honeymoon period, all bliss. For a few weeks in July cracks started to appear in the relationship but you worked through it and reconciled and were confident of smooth sailing up ahead. Instead, they woke up in a foul mood on Tuesday and tossed a frying pan of scrambled eggs at you while you were just trying to read the paper and sip a coffee.
  3. lol, what’s the opposite of a Prospects thread? Update on ex-MSU, ex-Wing …
  4. I may be overreacting to a) yesterday's loss; and b) the Guardians sweeping the Mets in NY. After Monday night's win, the Tigers had won 6 of 8 and had an 8.5 game lead and it looked like the Mets were about to get a walkoff win over Cleveland. If the Tigers had held onto yesterday's 4-3 lead and the Mets won 2 of 3 in their series like I would have expected going in, I'd be feeling more comfortable. All to say, if the Tigers sweep the Angels this weekend I'll relax a bit again.
  5. I remember a quip from a hockey GM once about how negative some fans will be no matter what: "His favourite team could win the Stanley Cup and he'd still complain that the Cup parade didn't go right past his house".
  6. Jays go 2 games up on the Tigers, beating Colorado 20-1 and sweeping the 3-game series by a combined score of 45-6. The Jays' 63 hits is an MLB record for a 3-game series.
  7. The Guardians are now closer to 1st place in their division (6.0 games) than are the Yankees (6.5 games).
  8. Tigers lose. It's going to feel like a long time between now and the next game Friday night. I think losing 2 of 3 at home to this Twins team is just as discouraging as being swept on the road by Pittsburgh.
  9. Cleveland still hasn't had a no-hitter since Len Barker's perfect game 44 years ago.
  10. Thanks for nothing, Mets. Have now gone 42 outs without a hit, going back to the 4th inning of yesterday's game. Good on Stephen Vogt for leaving Williams in there. 111 pitches through 8 and I think he'll be given the chance to get the no-hitter.
  11. Yes, plenty of time to still blow it. The 2006 Tigers reached their highwater mark of 40 games above .500 after Game 112. This is Game 116 for the Tigers and they're 7-15 in their past 22 and about to fall to 7-16.
  12. And Cy Young pitching for Cleveland. No-hitting the Mets through 6. Update: No-hitting the Mets through 7.
  13. Sayanara to Pierson "Sadaharu" Ohl
  14. Tigers lead! Carpenter homers.
  15. Great catch by Clemens. Then throwing it back like catching a small fish.
  16. You should have been more specific. He didn’t give up a first inning home run. He did give up two first inning runs.
  17. Tigers suffer their first L of the day
  18. Or maybe nerding out at a Comic Con convention somewhere.
  19. lol, I actually was going to type that but changed it to Mankowski. Should have stuck with your choice - Chuck Scrivener is a grittier sounding name.
  20. And legends like Phil Mankowski and Tom Brookens who paved the way for Inge.
  21. This is an important game. Can’t lose a series at home to a depleted Twins team. And the Guardians have a favourable schedule the next couple of weeks.
  22. I believe they're on an 18W 7L stretch.
  23. Guardians win, Astros win and the Jays have taken the lead in Colorado. Bad night all around.
  24. Yanks demote Jake Bird to AAA.
