Don’t even need K.C. to lose. Tigers win the 3-way tiebreaker. Tigers won season series over Baltimore 4-2, Baltimore win season series over KC 4-2, and K.C. won season series over Detroit 7-6 so Tigers have the best head to head to head.

So all six division flags have been clinched, as have the four first round byes. The final two wildcard spots in the AL could be clinched tonight. Apart from seeding, the only real drama is which two of NY Mets, Arizona and Atlanta grab the final two NL wildcard spots - Mets and Dbacks a game up on Atlanta, with the Dbacks only having 3 games left but the Mets and Atlanta having 5 left.

So six events - three CWS:Det and three Bal:Min - would need to go against the Tigers for the Tigers to miss the playoffs now. By my calc, even if the outcome of each of those events was a 50/50 chance, I think there'd be only a 1 in 64 chance of the Tigers missing. And a CWS @ Det event is better than a 50/50 coin flip for the Tigers.

We saw some really bad baseball in extra innings tonight. Marlins almost blew the 1st and 3rd outs of the 13th.
