  1. Wednesday: I am coming out of retirement to help you win a Super Bowl Saturday: Oh, might not make the playoffs? Um, never mind.
  2. Well all of our teams have lost since Thanksgiving, I had to get something going.
  3. What about Trevor Bauer? The world rejected him on an accusation that turned out not to be true. That's unfair and that could happen to any of us. You could be accused of something and your career taken away based on a lie. That's pretty scary. I think he does deserve a chance to pitch in MLB again. I know he rubbed folks the wrong way in the locker room, but my guess is that he's probably mellowed and wouldn't want to blow his second chance. I think he'd be worth a shot and would probably come fairly cheap.
  4. Oh, and I understand the defense has been bad, but Gibson needs to rise up at SOME point.
  5. There needs to be a major change of some kind. Several players need to go. Gibson needs to go. He's brutally bad. He's Rogie Vachon-bad. GAA of over 3.50. His SvPct has be be lower than .860. That's just not good enough. And he's giving up softies too. Cossa is playing extremely well at Grand Rapids. He's earning at least a look. This season feels like it's very quickly slipping away now. Talbot hasn't been all that great either.
  6. It was a great show and no ending will ever top it, but the final season was a big drop off for me. I just felt the characters were getting way too whiny. I mean, it was still really good, but not at it's peak. And I hated the way they dealt with Lisa's departure - the reason why and the end result (I won't spoil it) just came out of nowhere. Hey, here's this character we've barely seen who has suddenly done this major thing. It felt rushed.
  7. My thought going into last year was that they might have a step backwards season before they finally got all the way home and I thought that would be last year and it turns out to be this year. The Super Bowl window is FAR from closed. And while making the playoffs might be a challenge this year, it certainly isn't hopeless. First place schedules are harder and when you are the hunted team, you get everyone's A-game. Nobody needs to be fired (well maybe Morton) and nobody needs to be released. They need to repair that offensive line in the offseason. And find a better OC. I do wish Campbell would stop going for it on almost every 4th down. We have an outstanding kicker, you can use him before the very end of the game.
  8. Bryce Young is a good example. They threw him to the wolves and he wasn't ready and it showed, but there was no pressure to win immediately, so they could let him take his lumps and learn and now he's alright. I don't think you can just take a rookie and put him on a good team and expect good things right away. McCarthy could end up being decent in a couple years, but Minnesota can't wait for that.
  9. (the above post was from October 22) I had a feeling. I'm not right very often, but I am glad I am about this. This could be a big bounce. I doubt he's dropped of very much and if he did, he'll get it back by his 3rd game.
  10. If you like Cheap Trick you should go seek out music from The Lemon Twigs. Especially the album "A Dream Is All We Know". Plenty of Cheap Trick/Badfinger/Big Star/Brian Wilson vibes. And they don't do anything digitally - it's all manual to tape recording.
  11. i know some people want to dismiss much of the Pistons run, but every win now is one less you need to have later in the season and it gives them the opportunity to set up a home court advantage in the playoffs and also to rest some of their stars and keep them more charged for a playoff run. A win is a win and anytime you go 15-2 and win 13 in a row - it's absolutely special. You saw that stat. The only other 2 times the Pistons won 13 in a row they won the title those years. In 1990 they were a favorite to win it all, but the 2004 team was a lot like this one. People didn't think they had a championship in them until they blew out the Lakers in the famous "5-game sweep". I recall Jimmy Kimmell watching the game while taping his show and seeing the reaction of the Lakers getting totally blown out. Nobody thought the Pistons could win that title and they won it easily. Jalen Duren has turned into a complete player. A superstar in the making. He's on 22. Better sign him now and not **** around.
  12. It's that Indianapolis altitude. It messes with you. They're used to playing at about 600 feet above sea level and in Indy they are at 750 feet.
  13. Wow 15-2 and it's only the SECOND best record in the NBA.
  14. Drummers take a beating every bit as much as their drums. They are the Catchers of rock music. They are usually the smartest guy in the band and they control the pace and a lot of them are hidden behind a bunch of equipment.
  15. The J.J. McCarthy thing So, he's already a complete bust? Well, a few thoughts.... He was never that great a QB in college and Minnesota over reached -- by a lot. McCarthy managed a very good offense at Michigan, with a great line and a lot of weapons, but I don't think of him as a slam-dunk star QB. Elvis Grbac and Chad Henner were better than McCartly. It's his rookie season. You don't take a 14-3 team and put it in the hands of a rookie QB. The Vikings are being foolish here. C.J. Stroud and Jayden Daniels are unicorns. It's foolish to start a rookie if you're not a rebuilding team. There is so much to learn in the NFL. Teams need to let guys develop. And it's also foolish to have Carson Wentz as your only other option. They would have been better off reacquiring Cousins. Now, I don't mind seeing this with a division rival, but I feel like they put him in this position by drafting him way too high. Hendon Hooker is still out there. So is Tim Boyle, right?
  16. No Bun E. Carlos, though, right?
  17. Wow, Lions fans acting like they lost yesterday. That was a great win. To comeback the way they did. Spectacular. They can't all be pretty. Take the win. Move on. This is the NFL, you never know what to expect. Yes, the O-Line is off and Goff is a bit out of sync. I think it's Morton and it's not just the play calling.
  18. The Giants might be a bit better than their record. Lost a close one to the Chargers Beat the Eagles (Trounced them) Blew a huge late lead to the Broncos, one of the best AFC teams Lost close games to the first-place Bears and Green Bay Where the Bears have been great in one-score games, the Giants have been brutal, but they are in almost everything Just quit worrying and enjoy every win The officials on the field of the Jags-Cardinals game just called a safety on a ball that the Cardinals touched first and they didn't know the rule. That's pathetic. The head official took the safety away and explained the rule. I don't think the Bears are a lot better than last year. Last year they lost a lot of heartbreakers and many of those were set up by brutally bad coaching decisions (like our Thanksgiving game last year). Having a coach that knows what he's doing is all the difference. But I do sense it coming to an end for the Bears soon. They feel more lucky than good.
  19. On the Gibbs OT TD.........I feel like 24 on the Giants kind of gave up a bit. A win is a win. Don't care if it's ugly. Remember, the Giants just lost to the Packers by the same margin. People are already giving up on the Thanksgiving game? Ridiculous.
  20. Ivey is badk? And Harris is healthy? That means less time for Jenksanity. This team is deep.
  21. The person or persons responsible for mobility-search dot com need to be found and executed. Money should be charged to witness it. I'd buy a ticket. And people that use computers to scam older people out of money should have their fingers cut off.
  22. But Cossa. Shouldn't he be taking it by now? Shouldn't he be forcing the Wings to bring him up because he's so stellar? Seems like it's taking an awfully long time with him
  23. I kind of wondered what all the hullabaloo about Gibson was when they traded for him. He didn't seem that special to me. Kind of like a new Rogie Vachon. So much hype, but not that good.
