  1. When I saw at the start of the season that Penn State was ranked #3........I thought NAH Then when they went to #2, I thought NOPE They proved it today. Bye-Bye Top 10. Franklin, man.
  2. James Franklin putting on a bad coaching clinic today. Horrible 4th and 2 call with a minute left. Then do not rush the punter, who stood in the end zone letting seconds tick away while taking a Safety. Penn State could still win this, but man some bad stuff.
  3. Melton vs. The Mariners. Tuna Melt.
  4. yeah, and maybe some of it is Yzerman not sure of the team's defense and not wanting to expose Cossa too early.
  5. I used to like Gus Johnson, but find him very annoying now.
  6. Wisconsin scores on their first drive. Where is TP to call for Wink Martindale's instant firing?
  7. I can't get the vegas ballpark cam to connect. Is it just me? Hmmm, has anyone else tried to check out that site? Last I saw it was a bunch of dirt being moved around. We've got that in Lincoln Park. The site where the Sears shopping center used to be is just a bunch of mounds of dirt being moved around. I have no idea what they are doing with it. I drive past it maybe once every 10 days and the mounds of dirt have moved around. The Lincoln Park A's ? Maybe John Fisher can con Lincoln Park like that one guy conned Allen Park 15 years ago.
  8. Has anything been built at that stadium location in Las Vegas. I was just reading and watching stories about what's going on in Las Vegas and that city is crumbling. International tourism is way way down and with sports gambling being legal in so many states the lure if Vegas is not nearly as strong. Looks like the A's picked a really bad time to move to Las Vegas. I am left wondering if it's still going to happen or if they A's may look elsewhere. We know Nashville and Salt Lake City would love to have teams and the timetable for expansion keeps getting pushed back (nothing will happen until the Rays and A's have permanent locations cemented). I would love to see the A's in Vegas fall apart because John Fisher is a scumbag, but aren't most owners?
  9. I don't think Cossa is going to make it. Seems like if he was the goalie they though he was when they drafted him, that he would have made a big leap by now. We'll see him this season, for sure, but he might be getting passed by Rudy G or Augustine before too long.
  10. If kids want to play youth hockey in North Texas, you'd better kiss up to the Dallas Stars. Not a good look
  11. I mean............. Alex Cobb I gotta tell ya. A lost season like this and NOW they put him on the roster. Starting game 1? Gutsy move by Harri..........oh, wait, they're starting a rookie? Okay. Does he give us a Porcello vs. the Twins in Game 163 performance? 5 2/3rds, 4 hits, 2 BB with 8 K and only 1 earned run.
  12. They were only 3 games better than the Tigers
  13. Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more. Or close the wall up with our Tiger dead. In the regular season there's nothing so becomes a man as modest stillness and humility But when the blast of playoffs blows in our ears Then imitate the action of the Tigers Stiffen the sinews..........SUMMON UP THE BLOOD Disguise fair nature with hard-favoured rage
  14. Mr. McKitrick, after very careful consideration I've come to the conclusion that your new defense system sucks.
  15. That whole story was so crazy. Seattle was supposed to get a team in 1973 - but because the A's moved from Kansas City to Oakland, a Missouri Senator named Stuart Symington (who almost became Kennedy's VP) threw a tantrum and started threatening baseball unless they put an expansion team in KC as soon as possible, so the 2 team expansion of 1969 with the Padres and Expos became a four team expansion adding the Royals and one more team - that was going to be in either Denver or Seattle. Neither city was ready for a team, but Seattle had almost lured the Cleveland Indians, so they got the nod. They were still pounding seats into Sick's Stadium on Opening Day, and literally stopped for the national anthem. Mickey Mantle, who championed having a team in Seattle once said it was the perfect name for the park. It was a total disaster. No water pressure after the 6th innings. Teams had to shower back at the hotel after the games. They ran out of money and their trucks were driving from Spring Training in Arizona to Seattle just days before the 1970 season started and parked in Utah waiting to find out if they were going to Seattle, Denver or Milwaukee. This is TWO DAYS before the season started when an auto dealer named Bud Selig bought the team. He wanted the colors to be Maroon and Navy blue like the minor league Brewers team, but it was so last-minute that they were wearing pilots uniforms with patches on them for Milwaukee at the start of the season. They just kept the blue and gold after that. Nuts, man, nuts.
  16. Sorry, Leon Roberts ended up on the Mariners but a couple years after the Tigers traded him to Houston Houston got Danny Meyer, Terry Humphre, Mark Lemongello and Gene Pentz for Dave Roberts, Milt May and Jim Crawford. Sounds like a Scott Harris deadline trade to me
  17. Danny Meyer (who always rolled his neck when he batted) was not a gifted defender. One of the worst outfielders in baseball. A lot like Nick Castellanos without the consistent power. Didn't the Tigers lose Leon Roberts in that draft too?
  18. I still remember as a kid getting my first pack of 1977 baseball cards and seeing Toronto Blue Jays? Seattle Mariners? What the heck? Who are these teams? Al Ackerman didn't exactly cover the baseball expansion on the 8 minute sports update. We had no ESPN, I had no idea that those two new teams were coming.
  19. Umpire needs to take a ****...........too many Chicago-style hot dogs.
  20. Congratulations on your division title, Guardians. It's adorable.
  21. Who starts Game 1? Reese Olson? Seriously, who starts Game 1?
  22. I am not on the air Sautrday, but I am the Program Director and I can do whatever I want. So I am going to make sure that Centerfield by Fogerty plays before or during the game. And if they win Saturday, I will play that song before EVERY playoff game.
  23. I'll make sure to play Centerfield by John Fogerty at the start of my on-air shift. It worked on Tuesday. Maybe that's the answer.
