Will Tigers Pony up for Skubal
Motor City Sonics replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Tigers
I was just using that as an extreme example. I think some people see high prospects and they think they are automatic plus players Travis Chapman was going to be an All-Star, remember? The biggest ones I remember were Paul Householder and Clint Hurdle. Both of those guys were can't-miss. I will say this. I trust the current regime's development staff more than any other in my life. The do seem to develop guys pretty well. And the Tigers organization has done a 180. They were famous for always having power arms. You'd look at their Top 10 prospects and seven or eight would be pitchers, but the latest BA Top 10 list has ZERO pitchers. Wow. -

But lets be honest about top level prospects. If 3 out of 10 of them are just average major league players - you're doing better than most teams. It's such a big leap. Rookie ball = One story Bungalow A ball - two story townhouse High ball - two story townhouse with a roof garden Double A Ball - 5 story building Triple A Ball - 5 story building with higher ceilings on each floor Major League Ball - 40 story skyscraper. It would be wonderful if 2/3rds of our prospects panned out. But it's more likely that 2/3rds don't because that final leap is so extreme. -

So many rumors about what the Tigers will get for Skubal. And some very attractive returns. But a sportswriter (and I can't remember which one) once said - whomever got the best player in the trade -- wins the trade. It's very rare when that doesn't happen. Can't think of too many. The Hershel Walker deal.........he was the best player (at the time of the trade) but the Cowboys won it easily. I would say the Pistons trading Grant Hill might be an example, as he was the best player at the time, but in hindsight Ben Wallace was a better player. So the Tigers could get a current starting pitcher and the best 4 prospects on the Dodgers and the Dodgers probably won the trade. Starting to wonder about the Mets now. They lost two stars and Cohen is about to go crazy. -
A position with THAT level of importance and THAT amount of money and there was NO LEGAL OR HR PEOPLE. Yeah, that department is A-OK !

Wardo still has a gig.

There has to be a charge first and they are figuring that part out. Cant go before court without a charge, but the suicide watch will delay that while they make sure the person is as stable as they are going to possibly be. What a mess.

Raul Malo died yesterday. I knew it was bad, but I was hoping he'd make it through Christmas at least. This really sucks. Good guy. Great voice.

Hot Seat Rankings 1. Raheem Morris, Atlanta, Too much talent to be 4-9 and now passed by Carolina (by 3 games). 2. Kevin Stefanski, Cleveland, That two point attempt play call was Kev begging to get out of Cleveland 3. Pete Carroll, Las Vegas. This whole organization is a goddamned mess. Pete should have stayed retired. 4. Jonathan Gannon, Arizona. Time to blow the whole thing up - including the complete bust of a QB. Hail Murray was the high point. Blow it up. Trade Murray - get some draft picks. There are a few sucker teams that'll bite. When he's not hurt, he sucks, but he still has Name Clout. 5. Shane Steichen, Indianapolis. They were 7-1 when November started. Now Indiana Jones is done. They're wasting Jonathan Taylor like the Lions wasted Barry. Stefanski needs mercy. I'd like to see him take over the Atlanta job. I think he's bring out they're talent. Best-case Scenario is Andy Reid retires and he gets the Chiefs gig. The lesson here (but for the Colts) is you better handle your QB situation correctly. Falcons, Browns, Raiders and Cardinals are disasters.

We should be rooting for the Packers, which is painful, but we have a tiebreaker advantage against the Bears.

Notre Dame AD should be fired over this. Just absolutely foolish. Losing practices, bowl game experience and money over a temper tantrum. You had your chance to prove you belong in the playoffs - and you blew it. Possibly the biggest Cry Baby move of all time. Oregon over James Madison: Nice story JMU, you made it to the Ball. Tulane over Ole Miss: Sorry, I don't think they'll rally. Kifin screwed them Texas A&M over Miami: Texas A&M only had one stumble Oklahoma over Alabama: Orange: Texas Tech over Oregon Rose Indiana over Oklahoma Sugar Georgia over Tulane Cotton. Texas A&M over Ohio State Peach: Indiana over Texas Tech Fiesta: Georgia over Texas A&M CHAMPIONSHIP: Georgia over Indiana. I do think the Hoosiers are for real, even in a weak Big Ten, but I don't think they could top Georgia.

Wow. Indiana finishing as the only undefeated team, right? Indiana is a football school and Michigan is a basketball school. We're living in The Upside Down.

OF Line in MLB Parks? Other crazy rules....
Motor City Sonics replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Tigers
The human arm wasn't meant to throw a ball over 95 mph constantly and those arms are breaking down. I don't know if 20 seconds or 40 seconds between pitches makes more of a difference on that. Bodies aren't meant to do that. But the days of nodding no, stepping off the rubber, then nodding no, stepping off the rubber, then taking the long deep breath before finally settling in for a pitch - those days had to end. People will talk about how guys in the past could throw 250 or more innings year after year. Yeah, because the typical fastball was 84-88 mph back then. -

Just replace players with androids and expert gamers can control them. Manfred is a joke. This is the guy that will cost us to lose the 2027 season. -

We are doing our yearly Rockin' For The Hungry broadcast - when we broadcast out in the cold in front of Kroger on South Maple to raise awareness, food and money for Food Gatherers. Our goal is to raise the equivalent of 1.5 million meals. We had a tremendous first day. You can help out by donating on the website I am providing in this post or you can stop by. We broadcast from 6am through 7pm Monday through Friday and 7am - 5pm Saturday. For a gift of $100 you could score some pretty good concert tickets (but those are going FAST) or some vinyl albums. There are some concerts that are going for $50. I am there from 3p - 6:45 p on the weekdays and from 2 - 5 on Saturday. Thank you https://give.foodgatherers.org/ge/rockin
