GO FOR IT NOW. Yep, 2027 and 2028 might not be great, but go for it now. Two firsts (which would likely be very late in the first) Go get that guy. He changes the whole defense, he really does. He keeps OCs up at night. The Lions can't keep everyone anyway. Now is not the time to concern ourselves with draft picks, we used draft picks to build this thing and they are in their peak right now. This window probably has 5 years max and we are in year 3. So something similar to the Mack deal would look like this 2026 1st rounder (probably pick 29-32) 2027 1st round (probably after pick 25) 2026 6th Round 2027 3rd Round (pretty close to being a 4th rounder). Sure, I'd do that. In a heartbeat.

If their trade haul was worth it, why didn't any of them pitch in this close game tonight? Oh yeah, I know, because they suck. This ain't the Diamondbacks, who've given up on their season. We've got Skubal tomorrow. He'll give us 6 or 7 amazing innings and then handed over to those stiffs we got. Good luck with that.
-
So pissed right now. Wasted a great start by Flaherty and the one thing they HAD to improve at this deadline totally destroyed them tonight.
-
**** Scott Yzerman.
-
Who is going in next, the electric Kyle Finnegan and that breathtaking 7.4 K per 9 rate? Luke Jackson and that shutdown WHiP of 1.46? The incredible Raffy Montrero? Oooh, goosebumps with that haul. Can't wait for that Charlie Morton call, maybe his kids can go to the game, if they can get out of their college classes.
-
Yep, the GM with no Balls goes Yzerplan on the baseball team and gets a bunch of stiffs for the bullpen. It would not have cost your best prospects to get some decent arms. Yzerman has an out - his team is not close to being a Cup contender. Harris needed to do something significant and flat-out failed. Not using them in this close game tonight. First game after the deadline and it bites them in the ass. It's idiotic to assume everything will go right again like it did this year. And they wasted an opportunity to really go for it. And that play just now. I think the guy might have been safe.

Hey, ESPN 2 is showing the Pop-A-Shot championship. Wow now that's compelling sports right there.
-
I feel like Hinch almost couldn't wait to pull Flaherty there in the 7th, then it makes me wonder why he sent him back out there in the first place?
-
So which new bullpen corpse goes up there in the 8th inning?
-
Good thing we got Charlie Morton at the deadline. Shrewd move !
-
Who will Stroman blame this time?
-
Figure out a way to do it and do it now. I don't care about 2028
-
But who cares about the long-term? They got the ring, man. And even though he left Horry open the next year and Horry daggered us, they would not have made the finals without him. I think of the Doyle Alexander thing. I don't think the Tigers lost that trade like others do. The team knew their run was coming to an end in the next couple years, so they went all in and it worked - from the Doyle perspective. Without Doyle, they don't catch the Blue Jays and make the playoffs. Plus, if the Tigers held on to Smoltz, there is no guarantee he would have had the same kind of success with the Tigers. He would have come up to a very bad Tigers team and they probably would have called him up too early out of desperation.
-
Also, sad to see the once-promising Matt Manning go "POOF". Part of the Tigers last no-hitter. He had his moments. Had a brilling Spring Training in 2024 but lost the roster spot to Reese Olson and that seemed like that was that for him with the Tigers. I can totally understand why a player might fall apart in that situation, he's human. Makes me wonder what might have happened if he went north instead of Kenta last year.

The Pistons went and got Rasheed Wallace when everyone thought he was a lockerroom cancer and that acquiring him would destroy team chemistry - they took the risk. Paul Coffey was a future Hall Of Famer and Keith Primeau was still considered one of the top 10 young players in the league, but the Wings took the risk and got Brendan Shanahan. It was the final piece. The Tigers get Charlie Morton. Come on, man.

I feel like this trade deadline was a MASSIVE failure. Of course, 29 teams will have failed at the deadline and the Tigers will just be one of them, but the time was now. Wait the F are we waiting for anyway. Skubal is probably at his peak right now. Torkelson has been pretty average after a hot start. The likelyhood of the fantasyland version McKinstry and Baez repeating this year is pretty slim. Parker Meadows, if he can even stay healthy, has not grown from last season and the best prospects are post CBA players. The time was now. They needed an earthquake and they came up with a series of whiny farts. Was that onions and ketchup? I can taste it....on my tongue. Okay, the tuxedos are pretty ****ed up now.

This idea that everything will click into place again like this year is the what the Orioles were thinking. Look where they are now. When you have it in front of you and it's as seemingly close as it is to them now - you go for it now. You make the bold moves now. Not just because we're bored as fans, but because there is no guarantee that you will be anywhere close to this position again in 2026 or whatever baseball looks like after the 2027 lockout.

So, I guess Steve Yzerman is working for the Tigers during his downtime.
-
Randall = John Smoltz. People will complain about it for years. LOL
-
So, Steve Yzerman is consulting the Tigers, I see.
-
WOW. Scott Harris with the ALL-IN move. Amazing. (I'm just practicing). Come on, man, did they consult Steve Yzerman at the deadline here? I mean, crickets, man, crickets
-
Just wait'll Maeda next year.
-
Please, please, please, baseball Gods, I hate Chris Sale. Don't make him a Tiger, please don't make him a Tiger.
-
Wow, that's shocking man.

Positive is a confirmation of a break. Negative is no break. The Diamonbacks are lying. Franklin Perez was perfectly healthy when the Astros traded him, too.
