You know that he works with children with cancer and started a foundation to help families deal with sick children, right? No, I'm just kidding, he's an asshole, **** him.

The simple thing is this. Win 2 out of 3 this weekend and then it doesn't matter what anyone else does, right? If we win 2 out of 3 and Houston sweeps then Detroit/Boston/Houston are all a 88 - it's #5 Detroit (Currently 3-0 Head-To-Head with Boston and 4-2 vs. Houston) #6 Boston #7 Houston Win 1 out of 3 and you need the LA Angels to just take one game Get swept by Boston and you need the LA Angels to win two games. Right? This sucks, I wanted to be relaxed at this point. Can I have this dream happen. Tigers win tonight and tomorrow while Cleveland loses tonight and tomorrow, thus clinching the division by Sunday and not needing to use Skubal until game 1 of whatever. Just please, don't let it be the Yankees vs. the Dodgers again in the World Series. I think I can handle just about anything else. If it can't be us, I'm rooting for the Mariners or the Brewers..........for the "small market" teams.

I never thought I'd see this again.

Well, first you have to actually want to play. This team hasn't looked like that the last couple of nights. They look like a baseball diamond is the last place they want to be. They've checked out.

Will Tigers Pony up for Skubal
Motor City Sonics replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Tigers
The Tigers were in first place all year until today. The Colorado Rockies outdraw the Tigers. That's pretty sad. The other teams that the Rockies outdraw are mostly teams that really weren't contending. That's pretty bad. The Atlanta Braves sucked all year (except when they played the Tigers) and they outdrew the Tigers by 6,000 a night. I would say the Red Wings will be interesting until about February, be in the conversation for the playoffs - and then they'll come back from the Olympic break, suck, and Yzerman won't make a major move and then drift aimlessly into the offseason (after missing the playoffs, of course) and we'll have the same conversation about them next year. The Pistons are a true wildcard because now there are expectations, something they haven't dealt with in a decade. But nobody will really care because the NBA is more of a marketing scheme than a sport now. I think the only way to get a fanbase to truly connect with the Pistons is they have to get to the final four. The last decade the Pistons were really good at one thing - getting a once-excited fanbase to be apathetic, which is worse than being angry, like Tigers fans are now. It's all about the Lions. Stay healthy, fellas. If they stay healthy, I don't see any reason they shouldn't be in the NFC Championship at the very least. -
Will Tigers Pony up for Skubal
Motor City Sonics replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Tigers
Harris will do none of that. He showed you that this year. I don't believe the Bregman stuff at all. I think it was only used to leverage the Red Sox into spending. Harris is just like Yzerman. Neither one will ever make a bold move. Everyone raving about the Wings getting John Gibson. Folks, he's just an okay goalie. A better one that we had but that's because Yzerman can't find a goalie to save his life. Harris is the same way. Get ready for more Canhas and Cobbs. Torres was a nice signing for a year (until he took September off), but you need more than that. Nice farm system. Who cares? Didn't we hear that about Randy Smith at one point too? -
Will Tigers Pony up for Skubal
Motor City Sonics replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Tigers
Let Skubal walk. Why spend for what he's done in the past? Give him 50 million a year after he's peaked? Nope. Remember the last 5 years of Miggy? -
This idea that the Tigers could contend next year is nonsense. They're completely broken now. They'll never get this stench off of them 1964 Phillies - never did anything again 1969 Cubs - never did anything again 1978 Red Sox - totally different team by the mid 80s 1987 Blue Jays - Took them years to recover Nope, this team is finished - Might as well trade off the core pieces and get more prospects because this is a team of losers, and I don't want them around anymore. Nice stats, guys. Yeah, Stats ! Riley Greene, Nice player, sure, but he's a loser. Spencer Torkelson, loser, Kerry Carpenter, loser. Get rid of them all. Rebuild. Hope the next batch, the 2027/28 batch has more guts then this bunch does. And Hinch? Yeah, nice little run for about 9 months, but he's cooked too. Might have been more lucky than good.

If you have never seen the 1976 film Network - you might want to check it out. So perfectly predicted television news' future. I mean NAILED it.

Okay Piers, let me know when Kimmel and his pals hack into a dead 13 year old girl's phone mailbox making her family believe she's checking her messages. When Jimmy does that, come back and see me, you ghoul.

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise teams at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good teams, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild teams who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave teams, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my Tigers, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Lincoln Riley? Bobby Petrino's available. (He always is)

But it's not up to the FCC to force that.........
-
If ABC, on their own accord decided to suspend Jimmy Kimmel it's not a free speech violation. Your employer has a right to make that decidsion But when the FCC pressures ABC to suspend someone, then it IS a free speech violation. Pretty thick hair to split there. Gilbert Gottfried getting fired by Aflac after offensive comments post 2011 earthquake is not a violation. Obama never pressured Aflac to do it. Hey, we're going to hire a comedian known for his vulgar humor - nothing could go wrong there, huh?
-
Oh, so the old farts that watch Sinclair won't get their Kimmel. The people who want to find it will find it.

Based on yesterday's Bears-Cowboys game - the Lions must be incredibly good (making the Bears look so bad) and the Giants must be dog vomit (losing to the Cowboys). Oh, and Kellen Moore. After the play calling at the end of that 49ers/Cowboys game - where he's calling QB runs with the clock running out - I can't believe anyone considered hiring him as an HC.
-
Based on how Russell played yesterday - if Daboll wants any chance at keeping his job he needs to make a move there. But the move is a rookie and judging a rookie on his preseason is foolish. The other option is Jameis Winston. The Giants haven't been as much of a pushover as we thought going into the season. The 21-6 loss to DC and the 22-9 loss to KC were closer games than the score. You know how the combo of a Coach & QB can be great. I think we're learning that with Belichick & Brady, it looks like it was really Brady driving that success and I am starting to think that Russ' success may have been linked to Pete Carroll as much as anything. But there are two other things that I think of with Russ. #1 - the age thing.....he just doesn't have it anymore and #2 the hunger thing. He just doesn't seem all that hungry anymore. He should have walked away after that first season in Denver. I feel bad for Stefanski. I think he's a really good coach who got Watsoned. Baker was a good QB for them and his one mediocre season he was playing hurt the whole time. They were so foolish to go after that criminal with all that baggage. Screwed themselves. Coach wise. Yep, Daboll and McDaniel are certainly at the top, but I have to be honest here - I think it should be Raheem Morris. There is no way you should ever lose 30-0 to Carolina, even though Carolina is an improving team. We'll see how they respond against their former coach Quinn against DC. If they get slammed at home in that game with a bye week to follow. The Coordinators are Zac Robinson as OC and Jeff Ulbrich as DC. Can you imagine Ulbrich being an Interim HC two years in a row (and after that stunt his son pulled at the draft)?. There is a lot of talent in ATL, they should be challenging for the division by now. In Minnesota it looks like Carson Wentz is the savior -- for now. The JJ McCarthy thing is interesting. I never thought he was brilliant at Michigan. He had a great O-Line. I seem to remember him missing a lot of throws. I think he could be good, but it feels like they're giving up on him already and that's kind of stupid In college, even the best team you play has maybe 3 legit NFL players on their defense. In the NFL they're as good as that. It's a big leap. Gotta give him a little time.

Kimmel will be back Tuesday night. This will be the highest rated show of his entire career. The Standing O will be 10 minutes long.
