  1. I've been joking to some record company people and folks around the station about what the Kinks are up to.......and then today this arrives..........LOL (I know it's not 'new' but it is a new mix)
  2. What is that term.........Uncanny Valley ?
  3. I think, as far as influence goes, The Sex Pistols are right up there. Not a great band, but they sparked something 42 people showed up for a gig in Manchester, England on June 4, 1976..............half of them went out and formed bands. https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/four-dozen-people-witness-the-gig-that-changed-the-world But lets be honest, they really couldn't play - they were just right place/right time. The Beatles with the quality, influence, widening what rock music could be, that was a once in a lifetime thing. And yes Black Sabbath created metal, but they didn't change music like the Beatles did. Hell, the Beatles changed society. Not even the early hip hop and rap artists had that type of immediate impact (yes, they changed society, but not immediately). So with that in mind, it's nice to hear the new song and it's yeah, just kind of there. All that's left now is Carnival Of Light and that didn't even have structure or lyrics. It's just one of those things that can never happen again.
  4. Further on this. The Beatles changed the way music was recorded with their experimentation, they changed how albums are made and released and how they were singular entities. That started with Rubber Soul. Before that, a band would go record 30 songs, the label would pick 14 or 12 and put them on a record and there was no real theme to it. Beatles changed that. Also - music videos. They were the first band to consistently do music videos (because they stopped touring). The way they changed their sound from 1963 to 1967 is pretty incredible too. Would Psychedelic Rock ever had a chance to be embraced if it wasn't for them? Nobody could have that impact again.
  5. I don't think they changed anything in such a massive way, that's all. Bowie was interesting but did he really change music in a massive way? I don't think there really can be another Beatles because they were the perfect band at the perfect time and were extremely lucky to be paired with George Martin. I think just about any other producer completely stifles them. The Beatles were dominant in the 60s and no other artist ever dominated a decade like that. The closest (and he's not close) is Prince or from a pop-culture standpoint, Madonna. Not saying those other artists weren't great, just sayin they didn't have that incredible impact. Honestly, who could?
  6. Stones just kept going because when they tried solo they didn't do very well, so they just decided to deal with each other and make a bunch of money. They're a rock band pretending to be a blues band and blues-oriented music is kind of timeless to a degree
  7. I agree, but it's still cool to have it. The Beatles split up at the right time. 60s were over. 70's were schmaltzy and tacky, but one wonders, with the influence the Beatles had, would they have pointed 70s culture in a different direction? or would they have kind of sounded like this? How many barriers were left for them to break? All they did, recording-wise, was only in 7 years basically. That's incredible. The Clash did what they did in only about 5 (we'll forget 'Cut The Crap'). Some bands burn bright and burn out. The Beatles WERE the 60s, they couldn't pull that off in the 70s. What they did in the 60s fried them. There was no 'Beatles'-like band in the 70's, The 80s had Prince. These things are rare.
  8. But the cover art...................An epic career's final fling and THAT'S the artwork? Come on, man.
  9. We'll see if Michigan is legit against Penn State. I think Michigan is guilty as sin and Harbaugh knew 100% exactly what was going on and I don't think they're the only school that has done this, but yeah, I think they got caught and as much as I would hate this to happen, I think OSU is going to destroy Michigan this year. I feel like the sudden turn around is only because they stole the signals. If OSU beats them badly this year, then the last two years are a complete fraud. TCU knew it and worked it and beat 'em.
  10. You might as well be speakin Russian. I am already resigned to the fact that I will need to replace. What do they usually cost. Tough time for this, but then again, is there ever a GOOD time ? Cold showers will wake you up in the morning. And thanks for the quick responses............

  16. Yeah, he shoved him into a locker and hurt his back.
  17. Derek Carr is having a really good season in NOLA.
  18. Dear NFL Teams STOP HIRING PATRIOTS ASSISTANTS It was Brady, it was always Brady. Rich Bisaccia did a great job. So stupid to try to win the press conference.
  19. Trump & Boris. Two peas in a pod
  20. Who are the QBs they face coming up? Chargers = Herbert..........He ain't all that. (and we'll hopefully be rested and healed and get some guys back) Bears x 2 ..............Fields or a backup Vikings x 2 .............A backup (unless they trade for Trubisky or Ryan Tannehill or someone, still not good) Packers............Jordan Love After that I think the only real challenging QB they have is possibly Dak Prescott (should have the division sewn up at that point) and maybe Derek Carr (McDaniels is an idiot for dumping him). It just seems that what I have gathered after 8 weeks with this team is that if the other team doesn't have a really really good QB, they are not going to win against the Lions. By the way, I heard in passing during a game last week - Lamar Jackson has an insane record and stat line against the NFC. So the Lions aren't alone.
  21. Honestly, if you take 2 of those 3 early FG's and turn them into touchdowns, there's' 8 extra points there, a missed chip shot is another 3 and a *fumble* on the goal line. They left 18 points on the table, in my opinion. Those 3 field goals happened because of some terrible play calling. Riley Patterson's miss was probably a bribe from the NFL/ABC to keep the Raiders in the game and keep the TVs on. That's probably why that fumble wasn't overturned. Keep it close - higher ratings.
  22. But ya gotta finish...............they did in the end, but it really should have been about a 48-10 game tonight. You can get away with that against the Raiders, but not too many others and certainly not a playoff team.
  23. Survived it. 6-2 Schedule does get easier Now let's get healthy.
