Week Eleven: Jacksonville Jaguars (2-8) @ Detroit Lions (8-1)
RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
https://sportsnaut.com/nfl/nfl-news/lists/nfl-jerseys-nfls-best-selling-jersey-2024/ Top selling jerseys of the past 6 months, Hutch at number 4 and St. Brown at 6. They also happen to be the top 2 selling non QB jerseys. -
Watching Liranzo and I get Kendrys Morales vibes with his build and swing. I'd definitely be ok with it if he turned out to be him at the plate particularly if he does indeed stay at catcher.

If we decide to trade Skubal we could always call up Casey Crosby to fill that power lefty void in the starting rotation. -

I've always had a bit of a mancrush on Robert the on field player and always felt he had superstar talent but I'm not sure what he is like off the field and if his character would fit in our clubhouse. -

To me it was actually some of the non interpretations that worried me more. He missed quite a few easy throws that he normally makes. There were more than 1 just at St.Brown that weren't even close(they weren't throwaways either) and another couple where St.Brown had to pluck below his knees to get to. Also I know he isn't known for throwing the tightest spiral but some in that game were especially wobbly, hell the one to LaPorta was so bad the announcers thought it was tipped at the line of scrimmage. All this to say as long as there isn't something physically wrong with him that he is hiding I'm not concerned though, guys have off games, even great ones so until proven otherwise that's what I'm chalking it up as. -
Week Ten: Detroit Lions (7-1) @ Houston Texans (6-3)

Watching Bates game winner again and aside from how close it was to hitting the upright the thing that sticks out is just how much distance it had. It was a 52 yarder yet it glanced the flags on the top of the goal posts and finished 3 quarters of the way up on the net. Just an insane leg! -

It makes me wonder if the Lions feel this isn't just going to be a 1 week thing with Decker cause if it was I think I'd just suck it up for a week and put the backup in at LT instead of messing with Sewell. -

Justin Rogers says Sewell at LT and Skipper at RT is how they were lining up in warmups. -

Nico Collins ruled out for the Texans. -
Also in defense of the Bears management they went 5-3 to end the year last year and particularly on defense looked like one of the better teams in the league so I could see why they didn't clean house. You generally don't do that when a young team responds like that and finishes out the year that way.
-
That and we were also in the middle of the pandemic, we weren't even sure how much if any of the NFL season was even going to be played at that point. It just wasn't an ideal time to clean house and try to start over cause there was just so much going on in the world.

So I just woke up from a nap still half asleep and I go to ESPN to check some football scores and on the top I see Houston up 20-17 to Detroit. Still in a complete daze I'm like "WTF did they move the game up or something" and I get all frazzled only to then realize I'm looking at the score of the Rockets vs. Pistons. lol -

Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter aren't the ideal guys to have to face with a backup LT. -

Worth noting that this week is the Browns bye week so Smith has yet to have one this year so wouldn't be the worst idea to just let him take this week off all together and rest up. -

Even a hurricane wants nothing to do with Campbell and the boys! -
Harris looks like he has aged 20 years since last season. Maybe signing with the Pistons has the same effect as being the President when it comes to aging?

The point that Stanley brought up about the time remaining and how it automatically turns it into 4 down territory if you are down 1 makes me rescind my previous point about going for 2. I still feel you should go for it if there was less time and the choice was essentially a guaranteed win with a 2pt make or OT with a kick. But with the amount of time left for this one that wasn't the case especially with Mahomes and the Chiefs offense in guaranteed 4 down and aggressive territory. With the tie they are far more likely to play more conservative knowing that worst case scenario is overtime.
-
Yeah Campbell for sure wouldn't have called that last timeout right away when they got to the 1. I think Bowles completely panicked there for some reason.

Trading For a Defensive End/Edge Rusher
RandyMarsh replied to Mr.TaterSalad's topic in Detroit Lions
I wouldn't mind going after Clowney, yeah he's been around forever and his actual raw production never really matched the hype but he is a good run defender and his metrics like pass rush win rate are real good. -
Yup. Until the rules change to the point where both teams get a guaranteed possession in OT I feel like you have to go for 2 when down 1 late against an elite team. If you're facing the Titans then sure go for the tie cause even if you lose the coin toss you're still likely to get the ball back with a chance to win but against a team like the Chiefs, Ravens, Lions etc. I'm taking my chances at gaining 3 yards for the win vs. letting a coin toss heavily influence the outcome of the game.

And Mahomes is back in the game..
-
In bigger news from the game, Mahomes looks to have tweaked his ankle or something, came up real lame on that game tying TD and needed help getting off the field. Replays didn't look too good but ankle/foot injuries are hard to gauge to me. Sometimes they look real bad yet the guy just gets it taped up and comes back in and is ok so who knows.

Bucs hanging in there at KC, tied at 17 early in the 4th. If the Bucs were to pull this one out they would stake claim to giving the Chiefs and Lions their only losses of the year and doing it at their respective stadiums as well. Pretty impressive.

Week Nine: Detroit Lions (6-1) @ Green Bay Packers (6-2)

PFF grades are out. Kerby, Amon-Ra and Jack Campbell were our 3 highest rated players. Campbell is really turning into a solid player at LB.
