Yeah from a personnel standpoint I think they may have actually regressed this off-season. I think the real hope is that Ausar takes a leap forward along with Ivey playing like he was the last month before injury and improvements from somebody like Holland. Also maybe Cade takes another step forward and enters the true elite tier of players. If none of those things happen it's hard to see them finishing at or better where they did last year.

I cant believe Capela is still "only" 31, he's one of those guys that feels like he has been around forever and should be alot older than that by now.

Something else I always wondered was does the affiliate's concerns factor into any decision or is it always just about what's best for the prospect and in turn the big league club? For instance I read some tweets from people a few weeks back saying that the Tigers may wait till WM clinched before calling Clark and/or McGonigle up to Erie. Would something like that ever really be considered?

Your Mount Rushmore of Detroit/Michigan Sports Moments

Yzermans OT goal against STL and Tayshaun's block come to mind as well. Also another one that I really love was just the finish to the Lions/jets loser go home game in 97. Seeing how the team and fans responded after the emotional Reggie Brown incident waa something I will always remember. Topped off by Barry securing 2k yards and the playoff berth with the 53 yd run. The place was just electric. -
Always weird in this day and age to see proven players in any sport just traded straight up 1 for 1 with no salary or draft picks factored in and miss them.

4th time in Skubal's last 10 starts he's allowed 2 base runners or less. Unbelievable!

101-61 past 162 games dating back to last July 2nd, so almost a full calendar year.

Gleyber so they can spend the entire interview talking about his time with the Yankees.
-
Even when he makes a great play he still looks so awkward doing it. lol

I will say that Correa comes across really likeable in this on field interview.

As it stands right now he probably would be but not out of the question we win the World Series or at the very least advance a round further last year if we had him on the team. We desperately could've used his bat against Cleveland and he was torching the baseball to end last year. We'll see how things work out, I still wish we would've drafted him but there is a legit chance Clark turns out better and if it indeed meant that we miss out on McGonigle by drafting Langford then Harris made the right move for sure.

To me at least 1 high level reliever and another dependable starter are the biggest needs. Yeah our current starting pitching situation isn't terrible but I want to have as many options as possible come October and I would feel alot more comfortable having at least 1 more guy. If I knew for sure Olson would be healthy and pitching like he is capable of, Mize was being reliable and Flaherty was pitching like the good version of himself then sure we wouldn't need one but history suggests the likelihood of that happening is slim. More likely than not at least 1 or 2 of those guys is either going to be struggling or hurt which as it stands would mean we'd have to potentially have 2 or more games in a series with either a struggling pitcher, "pitching chaos" or somebody like Montero or SGL. I don't like that at all, by getting another reliable guy it would at least mitigate those chances, if everything works out and all those ideal situations happen like I mentioned above then you have the luxury of moving somebody like Mize/Flaherty/Olson or the acquired pitcher to the pen.

Obviously we don't know but we also don't know that he wouldn't have either. People just assume he would've cost slot or higher but there is no evidence of that.

Lebron picks up his 52.6 million dollar player option. Not surprising but just had to point it out cause this will make his 8th season for the Lakers which is wild for me, he only played for Cleveland for 7 his first go around there.

I know this is the narrative and not necessarily saying it isn't true but I do question it cause Langford signed for under slot at Texas and for the same amount as Clark. No reason to think he wouldn't have signed under slot for us too which would still allow the funds to go after McGonigle. Obviously not guaranteed but I think it was highly likely we still would've gotten him even if we drafted Langford.

Yeah, I didn't watch his last start but in his defense I think the start before where he "struggled" alot of it had to with the weather and how it effected the mound. There were multiple times he had to have the grounds crew make adjustments to it cause it wasn't comfortable to him. I believe things may have been similar last time too but I don't know for sure cause like I said I didn't get to watch any of it. Atleast I'm hoping these are the reasons why his "struggles" the past two games.

Funny my mind also went to Williams I was like "what is with Detroit athletes and getting caught gambling?" But for the record I know you were just kidding but to clear things up from what I could find it sounds like the stuff being in question was from the 23/24 when he was with Milwaukee.

Yeah that was a nasty pitch, 97 with a lot of arm side run to it. Im guessing the batter was sitting on the splitter so he couldn't pull the trigger but even if he did there wasn't much you could've done with that pitch.

I wonder if the Red Sox would entertain the thought of trading Giolito? He pitched another good game today bringing his season ERA down to 3.99. While that isn't great it is worth noting that he gave up 19 runs in 3 disaster starts but in the other 9 he only gave up 7 total. I can live with some blowout starts if you are giving up under 2 runs the other 75% of your starts.

Mckinstry is 13th among all AL batters in WAR coming into today, he could move up even higher after the game he is having today.
-
Aside from letting 11 straight guys reach base against you which is unbelievable on its own, you also managed to hit 3 of them and walk another 4. On the bright side he can at least say that he's only given up 1 XBH and hasn't allowed one to his last 10 batters.

Nothing to do with the game but had to post it here cause of how crazy it is to me, the Royals have only hit 13HRs all season at home thus far. Nobody on the team has hit more than 3 there all season.
