Now that's the Javy of old, get a hanger and completely turn on it! He was either swinging through those or popping them up his first couple years here.
-
Kinda on topic since it has to do with the Tigers TV but I read today that the Tigers have the 2nd highest local TV ratings in the MLB this year.
-
I saw Lynn on twitter earlier say that you should expect McGonigle and likely Clark to be at Erie come Tuesday. I don't know if that is just a prediction or if that is what he has heard from Tigers folks.
-
Looked like Nick Anderson in the 95 finals or Ausar against the Knicks at the free throw line at the end.
-
Looking at the remaining schedule, the Tigers don't leave the Eastern Time Zone until after the break where they open the 2nd half at Texas. Aside from that they only play 1 series west of KC all season and that is 3 games against the A's at the end of August.

Royals lose again, they are 10.5 back and are as close to the last place White Sox as they are to us.
-
I definitely want a couple high leverage relievers, it would make me feel alot more comfortable.
-
On that note you don't appreciate how tall many major leaguers are until you are up close to them. I remember the first time I had on deck seats as an adult like 20 some years ago it was against the Yankees and it blew me away how tall Derek Jeter actually looked when he was standing just a few feet from me.
-
To add to this, he has made 15 starts where ha has given up 2 HITS or less and 26 with 3 or less.
-
Made his 60th regular season start since coming back in July of 23, in those 60 starts he has given up a total of 100 runs. In 20 of them he has given up zero and in 36 he has given up 1 or less. Insanity.
-
Skubal with 1 run in his last 30 2/3 innings.
-
Mikie Mahtook, now there's a name I haven't thought about in awhile.
-
Yeah off the top of my head Tork, Greene, Torres and Dingler have real shots. As of the other day Mckinstry leads the Tigers hitters in WAR but I just have a hard time seeing him get in.
-
Depending on how many catches they take Dingler has a legit shot at being an All Star this season. Raleigh is of course a lock but after that there really isn't a clear number 2. Logan O'Hoppe may get the nod if no other Angel makes it but if they take 3 or the Angels get a different rep then Dingler has to be right there.

Atleast here in Detroit it's on Fox with the Fanduel Sports feed.
-
I wonder if Victor Reyes ever found that untapped power that we were promised for seemingly a handful of offseasons by Tigers writers?
-
Yep on top of that it would also have to be a good lefty that has noticeable platoon splits as well or else you likely will be better off putting in a better righty.
-
To be fair to the broadcasters "Hittin" Harold might as well have been Tony Gwynn compared to the rest of the scrubs that were in that lineup.
-
FWIW Keith did sign that extension before last year for 6/28 guaranteed plus club options, don't know how it effects his trade value at all but it's worth noting that if you are trading him to a notoriously cheap team they will take him knowing that they owe him a guaranteed 20 something million whether he flames out or not.
-
We don't exactly have a team of Rickey Henderson's but I would like us to try to steal a little more often if its somebody with decent speed like a Javy, Mckinstry, Meadows, Perez or Greene. The staying put and taking the extra base off hits works when you are you know actually getting hits but with the offense being in a funk now maybe we try to change that thought process and push things a little bit.
-
Speaking of Wentz I saw that the Twins claimed him earlier today, surely he isn't going to comeback and due well against us right??
-
I had to go look it up cause it "seemed" to me like so many of the Tigers HRs given up were on the 1st pitch of the at bat and it turns out that is the 17th time out of 65 HRs this year where that happened. Have no idea how that percentage relates to league average but not as high of number as it felt like to me. Edit: So went and looked and 450 of the roughly 2100 HRs this year have been on the first pitch so percentage wise the Tigers are a little higher but nothing crazy.

2025 Detroit Tigers General Discussion Thread
RandyMarsh replied to IdahoBert's topic in Detroit Tigers
Not that there is ever a good time to get TJ surgery but I always feel like this time of year is the worst cause you essentially missed all of 25, almost assuredly all of 26 and then 27 when you come back it could take you half a season or more to get your command and other kinks worked out. You'd have that same timeline if this happened in August or September except in that case you would've atleast gotten production from majority of this year. Or if it happened this past offseason you very well could be able to return in late 26 and work out those aforementioned kinks and be completely ready to go in 27. -

According to ESPNs WAR McKinstry leads all Tiger position players in WAR with a relatively modest 1.6. I say modest cause that doesn't even crack the top 30 in the AL so they haven't gotten elite production(atleast by WAR) from any non pitcher. But what they have gotten is plus production from a bunch of players, yeah the Tigers don't have any bats in the top 30 but they have 7 between 30 and 50 with an 8th(Carpenter) being just .1 behind number 50. -
Speaking of catches, till the day I die this catch will probably be the greatest catch I ever see live, before the advent of youtube I scoured the internet for years trying to find a clip of it to see if it was as good as I remembered it being watching live and it certainly was.
