I noticed that too but I excitement was tempered when I realized that he is already 27. For some reason I always thought that he was drafted out of High School in 2020 like Keith.

Beautifully put Bert! -
While I didn't particularly like Shep I never hated him either, to me when it comes to baseball on TV I really don't pay that close attention to the lead announcer. I notice the color/analyst way more cause they are the ones that are trying to provide the inside information. Hearing guys like Morris talk about how they did it in their day is far more irritating to me than whatever the lead announcer does or says.

Valenti and Rico are the worst, they can never give credit to any local team without some backhanded comment. Just a couple of countless examples, the year Michigan won Valenti did predicted it in the middle of year but at least from what I heard it was never cause they have an elite team, coaching etc. but instead because the Big 10 sucks, Ryan Day can't coach against Michigan and the SEC will beat each other up before having to play Michigan. Even if that is/was true you can at least say that Michigan has an elite squad that is as good as anybody, instead of downplaying that and just putting down the competition to prop them up. Said the same thing with the Lions, put down everybody else instead of just saying that they have a great team. I haven't listened to them in a few months but even with the Tigers last year he couldn't give them any credit on their run, it was all about Minnesota collapsing and the baseball Gods being on the Tigers side.

I always use my parents as the stereotypical "casual fan", they will watch the games once in awhile but I'm usually the one to keep them up to date on things and after they ask if they are doing well or not it's always followed with "Are they going to the playoffs?", they never ask about their place in the division. I wonder if others are like that or not, if they are then that is even more reason to do away with the small divisions. -

I'm surprised 24 isn't number 1. Willie Mays, Rickey Henderson, Ken Griffey Jr., Miguel Cabrera, Pirates Bonds, Manny Ramirez just off the top of my head. -
The Royals have moved into 2nd place now after the Guardians lost.
-
Big win, 4 games up in the loss column now on Houston for one of the byes.

Damn 100+ up in the zone, no problem for McGonigle.
-
Yeah I don't get it, he was pretty animated about it, did he think the catcher was illegally blocking him or something?
-
On a side note I remember several years back when Corey Seager was the hot prospect and talk of the town in LA and in turn national media his lesser renowned older brother Kyle used the name "Corey's brother" on his jersey for nickname weekend. That was pretty awesome.

Yeah and at least compared to the rest of the Tigers last year he looked like Barry Bonds. I just like it cause even though it's a play on his name it at least isn't completely lazy like using your initials like GT, a shortened version of your name like Tork or the worst the little league nickname of adding a y to the end of it like Greeney.

If Hooker never got injured that year he likely would've been a 1st round pick, I don't blame the Lions for taking a chance with him but the reason I bring that up is that he looks like just another example of how underrated things like pocket awareness, reading defense and pure accuracy(not just completion % but putting balls in the right spots with right velo and touch) are when evaluating and drafting QBs.
-
I miss the days of cool nicknames like The Big Hurt and Big Unit, Kerry Bonds is great though.

Teslaa is going to be a true weapon for the Lions, if there is one thing they lacked is that receiver that can go up and get 50/50 balls and Teslaa appears to have the ability to do just that.

Barring playing with a major advantage like in altitude or wind behind you I don't think its gonna be possible to break that. I seem to recall Mark Rober doing a video a few yrs back after the Tucker kick and from what I can remember 70 was the absolute most you could get cause anything longer the trajectory needed would surely get blocked at the line.

"Was raised by a former MLB player who happened to be an angry drunk" "His mother was a Saint" "Would often get "injured" when a fellow Tiger was getting healthy"
-
Like Dombrowski the Padres have never been shy about trading premium prospects for proven vets so seeing them give up a top 5 overall prospect certainly isn't surprising.

Paddack starts his 2011 Doug Fister run today!

Practicing hard is a big reason they play as well as they do on the Sundays, if you ease it up you may get less injuries but you're probably not gonna be as sharp come gameday.
-
It looks like the players will be wearing their normal uniforms, haven't been paying attention lately so not sure if that has been the norm but definitely prefer it to the All Star jerseys.

Yeah it's just BP but when power isnt considered one of your strongest tools this is good to see.

People also understate the importance of Dan's aggressiveness. Once they got to the 50 or sometimes even before that he basically gave Ben 4 downs to play with. That is a major advantage, it allowed him to try plays early in downs or run it on 2nd or 3rd and long. The entire playbook was always open thanks to that and it made defenses play honest.

I remember going to a game when McDyess was here, him and Ben were warming up shooting 20fters(would be outlawed nowadays) all around the court. McDyess seemingly made every one but Ben was making at least 75% as well, just looked so effortless but of course outside of some rare times it never translated to a game. It was at that point where I full understood just how good these guys are if left to shoot in practice scenarios and not to put much stock into how one looks in such situations.
